CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Sarah (Mia Kirshner) paints Ashe (Vincent Perez) in the fashion of her friend, Eric (Brandon Lee).
FILM DESCRIPTION:
It is said that when a man dies wrongfully, a crow may bring him back to life to seek vengeance upon his killer. Like the first Crow, this revenge saga is set in a fantastical urban nightmare and is based upon the dark comic book stories of artist James O. Barr. The first film was set in a horrifying Detroit. The second is set in a similar version of Los Angeles. This time, the crow flies on behalf of Ashe, a motorcycle mechanic who was murdered along with his young son after they have witnessed a murder. After rising from the dead, Ashe dons the traditional black garb and funereal white pancake make-up that marks the crow's chosen one. While getting his violent revenge, Ashe is befriended by Sarah, a tattoo expert with great knowledge of the crow legend. Together, they defeat the vile criminals Curve and Kali.

The suit up scene is so visually primal. The raw rage and anguish of it all. Conveyed in the movement with the hands and the eyes. Sara's in aw of it all. Ashe rolling out on his motorcycle to wage war. This is my all time favorite suit up montage. There are many but this one is my personal favorite.

Sarah was the key that made this movie as epic as the 1st. She tied them together with her experience and love for Eric .... that she knew exactly what had to be done for Ash to become what he was supposed to be ..... and the fact that later .... you see she kept Eric's cat , Gabriel and Shelley's ring .. sealed it ❤❤❤

This is a great scene. Love how she smothers him in make-up. It annoys me that they didn't use the original script, because it had more intimate scenes between Ashe and Sarah. Vincent Perez and Mia Kirshner had strong chemistry, but the movie is such a cut-down version of what it was supposed to be, which is a shame.

I have no problem with tattoo chick character existing, but making it adult Sarah from the first movie is stupid. Is Cloud and Sephiroth in Final Fantasy X? No, because Final Fantasy X wasn't their story. Final Fantasy VII was. The only connection between the stories is supposed to be turmoil and the fact that the crow raises them from the dead. The following scenes were in the original 160 minutes long workprint version of the film, but were cut from the theatrical version by Miramax in order to make The Crow: City of Angels more like The Crow: Sarah had a longer voice over in the beginning of the film. 1. While he is underwater Ashe remembers reading stories to Danny 2. The crow "lifts" (resurrects) Ashe. 3. After Sarah takes him to her loft and he wakes up, Ashe does not believe he is dead so Sarah takes the kitchen knife and stabs him with it. Scared Ashe, then runs away as in theatrical version. 4. Ashe's last name (Corven) is clearly revealed as he runs back to his garage after his resurrection. The garage reads "Corven's Body Shop". 5. When Ashe is going after Spidermonkey at the Trinity Drug Plant, he takes Spidermonkey's gun and says, "Don't try this at home, kids!", shoots himself in the head and falls on ground. Then as Spidermonkey approaches, Ashe gets up, scaring Spidermonkey. 6. When Ashe destroys the Trinity Drug Plant, some thugs come to pick a fight with him. Ashe tells one of them that if he (the thug) has a gun he should shoot him (Ashe). The thug hesitates, and Ashe takes his gun, scaring the thugs and forcing them to flee. 7. After killing Nemo, Ashe confronts Holly Daze, the stripper who was talking to Nemo at Live Girl building. Ashe grabs her and looks into her eyes. He tells her that she should value what's left of her soul and to never come back "here" again. 8. In the original version, when Ashe builds Danny's grave he does not burn his painting. 9. Originally, there was more dialogue and love scenes between Ashe and Sarah. 10. In original version Kali's and Curve's deaths happened the other way around. 11. In the scene where Ashe is being shot by thugs at bar while Curve escapes, Ashe grabs the shotgun he took earlier when he killed Nemo and kills the thugs. 12. Ashe/Curve motorcycle chase scene was longer. 13. When Curve screams "You think I'm afraid of you?!" he pees his pants because he is afraid of Ashe. 14. When Ashe blows up Curve's motorcycle with his shotgun, Curve is on the ground with his crotch on fire. Glimpse of this scene is still visible in theatrical version when Curve hits the ground. 15. After dragging the injured Curve into the water, Ashe steals Curves gun and puts it into his coat. It's hard to see in theatrical version, but once Curve starts floating away his gun disappears from his pants. 16. The Twins and Kali shoot at Sarah's apartment door features then trash Sarah's apartment and destroy her paintings. 17. Theatrical version of fight scene between Kali and Ashe was part of the re-shoots by Miramax studio. Original fight scene between them was longer. Kali uses a 2x4 and a sword. When Kali tries to slice Ashe with her sword, Ashe dodges and breaks Kali's arm. Ashe was also 'psychotic' in this scene, especially as he recites the 'Shh...hush little baby..' dialogue. 18. When Kali is thrown out of the window, a shadow of a giant crow morphing into Ashe is visible showing that the Crow and Ashe are one. 20. Kali's death is different. She is still alive, though crippled and unable to move, cause her back were broken after being thrown out of the window, and she is seen crawling along the ground. Dialogue between her and Ashe was also deleted. Ashe comes out of nowhere and Kali begs him to kill her because she is in pain. Ashe refuses and smiles as he stands over her, telling her that he has already sent her to Hell. While he leaves, some thugs come and rape Kali to death. 21. Judah reveals his motivations in wanting the crow's power, he tells Sarah when he has captured her about himself falling in icy water, drowning and nearly dying when he was younger and visiting hell before he was revived, which he enjoyed, leading to his obsession with the occult and becoming the way that he is. 22. At the Day of the Dead festival, two more characters called Louis and Amede are shown. 23. When Ashe is climbing Judah's headquarters, The Twins follow him. One falls off the building and ends up decapitated. 24. When the ghost of Danny is at the Day of the Dead festival, instead of Danny saying to Ashe "If you give up now, we won't be together." He says instead, "It is time to go now," and Ashe refuses, saying he has to save Sarah. By doing so, he gives up his chance to return to Heaven, cursing himself to live on earth for eternity (since he is already dead and hence can't die). Danny disappears, Ashe looks for him in the crowd and turns a drunk guy around, believing it was Danny. 25. More dialogue between Ashe and Judah during their fight. 26. Ashe pulls out Curve's gun which he took from him earlier and unloads it into Judah's chest. It has no effect. Ashe tries to punch Judah, but Judah crushes his hand. 27. During the fight scene, Danny's painting falls from Ashes coat and Judah rips it up. 28. In the original version, Sarah and Ashe talk to each other just before Sarah dies. Ashe says he stayed on earth for her. Sarah gives Ashe her ring and tells him that "If two people really love each other, nothing can keep them apart.. nothing." Ashe cries. Sarah tells him that she'll wait for him, "Forever if i have to." 29. Ashe destroys Sarah's apartment so that he does not remember her anymore. 30. The ending was very different than the one which was re-shot for theatrical version. The scene where Ashe carries dead Sarah to the church was longer. It also featured Ashe wearing Sarah's ring like Brandon Lee's character Eric did in the first movie. When he sits down, he is looking at Sarah's ring. The word "Forever" is inscribed inside of it. The priest from earlier in the film enters the church and, knowing that Ashe is walking dead, asks why he is "still here". Ashe replies that he has no where to go. Priest then asks Ashe, "What will you do now, my son?", slightly angered Ashe replies (since he is cursed to walk the earth for eternity) "There are already many shadows in this city.. one more won't make a difference."

This is exactly the version we should have got. It would have expanded on the love between Ashe and Sarah, which sadly seemed like an afterthought in the movie. The editing in the movie is poor, because you can see certain moments that would have added so much character development. Disappointing that Miramax had the final say on this. Their interference ruined something that had so much potential.

I hate how badly the studio executives butchered this film. The production team made such a love letter of a film dedicated toward the Crow. They polled Crow forums and asked fans what they wanted to see in a sequel. It was a slow and thematic story about grief, loss, and pain. Vengeance wasn’t the primary focus. That was Eric’s story. Ash’s was supposed to be the story of overcoming infinite grief. He would have been cursed to walk the earth, undying because he chose to save another life instead of killing the one who killed him. It’s the perfect metaphor for turning personal tragedy into fuel for saving the lives of others. And then Harvey Weinstein got his degenerate hands on the film and butchered it to be cut more like the original.

@@vendelet If you want to hear the whole behind the scenes story, look up the Good Bad Flicks video on City of Angels. Through breakdown of the time line of events leading to the movie’s editing destruction and it talks about a lot of the missing scenes from the original cut. The original directors cut exists in a Miramax vault somewhere and they won’t sell the rights to the Crow: City of Angels. Shout Factory is a company who’s really good about buying the rights to badly butchered movies and attempting to rerelease them as the directors intended. Here’s to hoping Miramax sells and a company like Shout finally shows this movie the way it is was intended to be shown.

Yeah, the ending especially is a total disaster. Shame because this is a well made film with beautiful visuals and atmosphere. In some ways, I even prefer it over the original, especially when it comes to lighting and sets. Vincent Perez and Mia Kirshner were both great and we even got some wild and memorable side characters thrown into the mix. It sucks that we never got to see the full intended version and they opted to just cut the film into a cheap rehash of the first one just to squeeze more money out of it.

I haven't seen this complete movie yet that I can remember but I have to say in the scenes that I've been glimpsing through that she is the best girlfriend role for the leading role. She has the perfect looks for this flim. Gloomy, Gothic looks, yet very caring looking. Extremely pretty.

Can't help but think Nolan was inspired by the shot of Vincent riding the motorcycle with the trench coat flapping in the wind and recreated it at the end of the Dark Knight.

Director Tim Pope disowned this film. His real film was raped from him and over an hour was cut, the original ending was scrapped and several scenes were re-shot to make it an almost exact of the first. Check out City of Angels Second Coming. A fan restored around 20 minutes of footage to the film with stills and pictures describing with original script, even with this restored footage and stills, there is still around 45 minutes of footage that rights holders will not release. Tim Pope even sent a letter of extreme thanks to this fan saying it allowed people to see some of what the film was really supposed to be. You can watch it here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/nImEy7Own6TbkZc.html

Apparently the original version the director had shot was a much better (and much longer) version. Harvey Weinstein watched it and hated it for not being similar to the first one and had reshoots done and cut out close to an hour. It's a shame we'll probably never get to see the original cut.

Nate nelson NO. just NO. The 4th one is a fucking DIRECT TO DVD piece of shit. And don't tell me Edward Furlong is the worth watching part cause sucks. It's the crying crow! General Performance suck, script sucked even more, and for god shake Tara Reid is in it. That's a big giveaway that the movie sucks. It's a lame film that shouldn't exist, after the series (which is decent) they've should stop doing these or waiting for a good script, not trying to be Brandon's Crow story over and over

Okay I finished the first movie and this one as well....so far it's not the greatest but I do like the idea of the story from the first movie. Perhaps because I'm a Punisher comic fan and this is very similar in some ways. It's like Frank Castles's emo cousin. The actor who plays Ashe I thought he was alright. The writing was just lacking and the cinematography was just bizarre. I understand its suppose to be a dark film and I love the idea of it but the second film it felt like they were trying too hard. Maybe if I watch it a second time I might change my mind idk. So I'm off to see the 3rd film and it doesn't look that good but I want to give it a try. Wish me luck.
