In this video, I summarize and reflect on Rick Rubin's new book, "The Creative Act," while enjoying my holiday in the Alps. I'll share my insights from Cohort 9 of the Visual Thinking Workshop, where we explored the book through illustrations. Despite finding the book disorganized and occasionally off-putting with its references to "the universe," I delve into its core ideas about creativity. Rubin emphasizes that everyone is a creator, and creativity isn't confined to traditional art forms. He talks about "The Source" of inspiration, the importance of filtering and curating ideas, planting creative seeds, experimenting, crafting, and ultimately completing and sharing one's work. Join me as I discuss these themes and my own takeaways from Rubin's meditations on creativity. Don't forget to check the links below for my book-on-a-page summary and information about joining Cohort 10 of the Visual Thinking Workshop. Enjoy!

Thank you for a novel and informative video. It was interesting, and your opinions at the beginning of the video brought to mind two images you captured: 'The Opposite is True' and 'Point of Reference.' I enjoy this way of thinking and learning and look forward to incorporating it into my personal growth journey. I am an Obsidian newbie, but in the last week or so, it has opened up so many new ways of thinking. One thing I struggle with is remembering, and I'm hopeful that Obsidian will help with that.

I am glad you found this insightful... and yes, not taking, especially visual note taking in my case, helps with remembering stuff. Good luck with Obsidian. You made a good choice. Obsidian is a very very very good tool.

@@VisualPKM I have been using it for a little over two weeks now, and I am slowly starting to understand the importance of file (or in this case, note) structure, along with the associated metadata for later reporting and reviewing one's thought processes. It was very intimidating when I first started, like anything new, but once you engage with it, it becomes magical.

How can I "Copy to clipboard as SVG" with currend dark theme styles? Now I always get light-themed SVG code. Yes, I can save to svg file with dark theme applied, but I need a partial selection, not the whole scene for export. And copy to clipbord is much faster for this frequently action.

right click the empty Excalidraw canvas and select "snap to object" or "toggle grid" from the context menu. I use snap to objects most of the time. + If you select multiple elements, then in the elements property panel you will find the typical alignment buttons (align to top, bottom, left, right, v-center, h-center)
