If you have a magnet, that’s rated for nearly thirteen hundred pounds of strength(lifting/pulling power), then you need to have a rope, a wire or a Combination rope/wire that is rated for quite a bit more than the thirteen hundred pounds of the magnet.!.!.!. Otherwise you can never pull the magnet off of anything, that it sticks to that is immovable, before the rope breaks first.!.!.!.

Last time my magnet got stuck I had to get in the water and good thing I did. I thought it was stuck to a metal pipe or plate going across the bottom of the boat launch, so when I dove under to attach a stronger rope to winch it out, I could feel that it fell sideways down a gap in the concrete and couldn't fit back through the way it was facing. Trying to winch it out like that probably would have snapped the rope.

Fun fact: Electricity follows the path of least resistance. Short circuits are caused when electricity takes a path it shouldn't, bypassing a load of heck and even damaging internals. Since water is conductive, you can guess how easy it is for this to occur... However, electricity has to be flowing in the first place for it to take a different path. So if an unplugged charger cable falls into the water, if dried off properly, it can theoretically be reused. Edit: Oh yeah water corrodes things to cause water damage

  • @grumpyken9151

the above sounds like "common sense" but any mechanic that has ever worked on a flood car can confirm that insulated wires wick up water between the conductor and insulation and then corrode from the inside where you can't see it. TL;DR trash is trash

@@michaw7408 actually true stainless steel is supposed to but be magnetic, but I'm not sure about the magnetic nature of it in the presence of these super magnets that magnet fishers use. Rule number 1 of a come along. Dont use a half rusted chain you found in the water. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link. Love the content, keep it up.

a nickel counts ! i just started magnet fishing here in oakland ca . I think it was one of your videos I saw that convinced me it was finally time to buy a magnet . I only have a cheap one so far and still figuring things out . I thought I was crazy for being so juiced to find a hook or fishing lure . Im glad I am not the only one
