It's 1993, i'm 16 years old. I was driving back to school from eating lunch at Mr Gatti's Pizza, and this song played on the radio. I instantly liked it. After school, I went to Circuit City and bought the Cranberries CD. I still have that CD.

A great reaction, songs by 'The Cranberries' which I recommend are: "Pretty", "I Still Do", "Uncertain", "Ode To My Family", "Daffodil Lament", "Salvation", "I Can't Be With You", "When You're Gone", "Forever Yellow Skies", "Ridiculous Thoughts", "Free To Decide", "Animal Instinct", "This Is The Day". There are many more but these are good ones to continue with.

I liked them, they're first album was pretty good anyhow. They sound very similar to an English band "The Sundays" from the late 80's.This song came out right around the time of the music industry trying to commercialize the porgressive, punk and alt rock genres "the great musical dying".

There´s a lot to say about this video and references. The concept of the video is inspired by art filmmaker Jean Luc-Godard, especially in his 1965 film "Alphaville" (you can find it on KZread). The video was recorded in Los Angeles and sought to honor all of the filmmaker's artwork. In addition, the context of the music is very clear: all the characters are in the same hotel, looking for a partner. Men watch "semi-erotic" images of a stripper, which seems to refer to the male illusion about women and sex, while women make up in the mirror trying to look like sexies. But Dolores, who naively seeks a partner in this context, just watches all of this. It is clear that her romantic vision is different from this social context, it is more naive. That is why she sings about betrayal (I swore I would be true and honey so did you / so why were you holding her hand?). This context of relationships based on image and stereotypes is exactly where Dolores doesn't fit. In the end she returns to her room alone and closes the door. I needed some time to understand the message of the video. It is not obvious. There are several artistic references (for example, the video stripper is the famous Blaze Starr, star of the 1950s). Watching for the second or third time considering all the points and the loyalty message is charming and profound. More here: www.imdb.com/title/tt7019132/

This song, about an adolescent girl who feels used by a guy who professes his love, and then gives it to another, without declaring his intentions clearly. It’s an experience most of us have experienced, and it leaves one feeling betrayed and used, a fool. Knowing that Delores wrote this song directly from her own life’s experience makes it even more touching and sad, almost mournful. This is a very meaningful song. RIP Delores. Your impact will never be forgotten.

Probably the first song I’d heared from them and has a special place in my heart. So wish I’d not not turned down an opportunity to see them live around 10 years ago - about the time I developed tinnitus and stopped going to gigs. Now I wear ear defenders and can enjoy gigs again, sadly not the cranberries:(

I love the Cranberries music and this video in particular but not because I understand the story behind it. For me, it's more about the artistic stylisation behind it. I also really like the photography of Anton Corbijn, who did the photography for the U2 Joshua Tree album. Something about the stark black-and-white imagery appeals to me as a photographer.

React to Zombie, powerful, powerful song & video. 1.5 BILLION views on KZread. Context: IRA carried out a bombing in England and two boys aged 3 & 12 were killed. Delores wrote the song out of a sense of hopelessness and frustration that the majority of Irish people thought this was wrong but had allowed themselves be cowed into silence. Watch it through in one go, no stopping. Review/react at the end. Very important for this video

@@MrLeadb1 Nope. Cranberries guitarist Noel Hogan wrote the music for this song before Dolores O'Riordan joined the band. Originally, it had lyrics written by the group's first singer, a bloke named Niall Quinn. When O'Riordan auditioned for the band, she had some ideas for the song, and after she was hired, she wrote her own set of lyrics, turning it into a song of regret based on a soldier she once fell in love with.
