The new one would've been decent if they respected the artistic integrity and story of the original movie instead of believing they can somehow do it better. That's when things can sometimes go right but often go very wrong. The original has a very realistic nature feel to it. When the creatrix speaks to them, it's through butterflies or lightning strikes, etc... Natural things that come about in particular time that feels eerie where you're not certain if it's just coincidence or magic. The new movie on the other hand uses Adobe glitter effects that ruin the believability of the movie. I don't think they took the project serious at all.

Why are so many movies now unable to capture current teen culture? 80s, 90s, and early 00s movies both captured and inspired teens of their time. Anything about Gen Z looks like it's from a 35 year old's perspective, pasteurized, processed twice, and then run through a Disney Channel filter. The only exception I can think of right now is Euphoria.

@MB exactly I am so disappointed if you look at them girls you will think they are the Instagram girls who are trying to cast a Disney movie. the problem is that they trying to do a sequel and they forgot how the craft was. The craft did not have glitter, prettiness or childlike. the craft was organic and it was dark humor. this is the problem with Hollywood today they tried to touch iconic movies and they f*** it up 100% or try to make a sequel that don't even make sense. I'm not doubting the movie I'm just saying that I felt a Disney vibe I didn't feel that witch ritual dark vibe.

They forgot that a very important part of the success of the original movie was fashion. Amazing goth fashion + great defined and interesting characters who had strong conflicts each one of them + goth attitude reflected in their daily lives + a vibe that made, you wanna be there. I was hoping that if The Craft universe was expanded upon, it would take an even darker turn than the original. I'm fine with appealing to a younger audience, but the first movie wasn't just an easy cash grab with sparkly magic or fantasy princess level effects. The original was portraying sexual assault, abuse, broken homes, racism, mental illness, etc. It was for an audience that could grapple with the material and it didn't show witchcraft as some sort of cool club that you just got into a flower bath to initiate into. (Plus how weird is to go to somebody else's house the first time you met them and get into a bathtub with 3 people in the room you don't know, hopefully that's just the trailer's weird edit.) The witches in the original were all outcasts in their own respective ways: all of them were unconventional because they were dealing with traumas that separated them from others. They were the losers and the weirdos and the bullied. These girls look like they would be the popular antagonists. The Craft was guttural, it was sad, it was gritty but there was still a teen element to it. I feel like just from the feel of the trailer the "teen" element is put before anything else. Kinda disappointed, but hey, at least we still have the original.

If you actually saw this movie you would know that something traumatic happened to Fairuzas character in the original and one of the girls in this movie is her daughter. The original never used sperm in a spell.. this one tells more about occult knowledge. If you can decode and know the history of female and male energies then this movie was simply good and didn't need to be more. The first was older women playing younger roles during a grunge era I grew up in that era and older than you so I know . The movies aren't meant to be the same. But different like they are .

@@abepresume8132 I just don't understand the premise. It's a sequel that repeats many scenes from the original film. How does that work? How on earth do the new girls have a Polaroid of Nancy that must have been taken during the events in which Nancy approaches Sarah in the bathroom stalls. Did Nancy pause so Sarah, or one of the other girls, could take a quick pic before they got back to harassing each other. Why ignore the aesthetic of the original movie, pink fluffy jumpers, pastel shades for heavens sake and speaking as a girl I have never had a period that soaked through my panties, my denim gusset on my jeans: such that it runs all over the floor. If that happens you need a Doctor to be honest.

I feel like this would’ve been better if they: 1. Changed the outfits. The original had that kinda dark and slightly goth vibes. The remake is too colorful. I think a good modern day version of that goth aesthetic would be like alt/e girl vibes. 2. Should’ve kept it set at a Catholic school. They could’ve also played that up more in the original. 3. Honestly I think the rituals itself look great. From what I can see, there’s a lot of plants and flowers, which feels more realistic to actual witchcraft, but the special effects need to go. 4. The magic shouldn’t be so “say magic word and physical effect happens”. I think the original was nice because it built that up. It’s a lot scarier when you can’t see it physically happening in a second. 5. Should’ve been scarier. Kinda simple. Maybe more use of bugs and snakes like in the last movie? Or perhaps given the amount of plants, perhaps like implementing plants? 6. Maybe the spell book should’ve been like a website they found online? Again, more realistic to the current times 7. Doesn’t exactly feel like “witchcraft”, more like generic magic. The magic seems a bit too modern, which would be fine, but it doesn’t seem intentional. Again, using more “gross” plants would be cool, like herbs, mushrooms, roots, leaves, etc. the flowers seem too dainty.
