The Country House at Home with Oliver Gerrish
The current situation has stopped many of us being able to travel. The country houses of England have been under dust sheets for months on end. We came up with the idea of creating tailor-made video tours of these magnificent buildings and collections, along with the owners and curators, for clients who miss the experience of these places. Architectural historian Oliver Gerrish will lead a tour of your chosen house, as well as particular aspects of their architecture or collections that fascinate you. Our tours are designed for museums, patrons’ circles, presents for loved ones or for general interest. Filmmaker Freddie FitzHerbert will edit the films with your logos and branding as part of this bespoke service.
We hope you enjoy our sample film, which showcases three houses - Chillington Hall, Tissington Hall and Wentworth Woodhouse.
The variety and scope of English country houses is almost infinite - we look forward to sharing it with you.

Hello beautiful ❤️
Looking forward to learning more from these splendid English Country Houses, so glad that these homes have been recognized as architectural wonders.
Thank you so much for creating this series! I very much look forward to watching more.
Just watching this series for the first time love the English country houses. Thanks for sharing!
I am amazed at the beautiful Churches and homes in England that the British seem to ignore. We would love to have just one of those beautiful places here.
Maravilhosa !!!! Watching from BRAZIL🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
this houses and today are incredibles. can you imagine in 16th 17th century what was then???? when all the materials the concrete the bricks the stone the wood the glass was handmade.
Great videos! Although I’m from the US, my ancestors on both sides were aristocrats from England who settled in Virginia in the colonial period. My mother’s ancestor Thomas Ligon was from the same family as the Giffards at Chlllington Hall. His great-great grandmother Anne Berkeley Dennis/Denys was the sister of Thomas, 5th Lord Berkeley, ancestor of Barbara Throckmorton who married into the Giffard family and you referenced in your video.
This is a lot of fun to watch & the houses are lovely. Thank you for this brilliant take on the country house
Very interesting. I love docuseries like this. Hello everyone from Canada
Thank you from Australia - WELL presented - great stories - MORE Please !
Delightful host and wonderful sites
Here in the States we call rooms like that Railroad cars.....or just Railroad. I have always been fascinated by the English Manor Homes and Castles as far back as I can remember. I would love to visit England one day and see some of these for myself.
Finally oliver something worth watching thoroughly enjoyed your videos.
Wouldn't mind getting some aerial video of some of these houses. I've just been shooting ones around Northamptonshire at the moment. Nice video. Very interesting.
What a fantastic idea. Well done.

Terrific! So informative and entertaining! Vignettes of family history, plus some architectural history - wonderful!
Chillingham Hall is such a lovely house! Walter Giffard, first cousin of William the Conqueror, is my 28th great grandpapa. Great to see the family still surviving and doing well.
I love this not just for the homes but to “meet” the owner/ occupiers who seem very much to be just regular people which I hope they take as a compliment. And anyway… the only thing anyone can “own” with respect to real property is a temporary use right that remains valid only as long as one lives.
Una belleza todo muy bien cuidado y el paisaje parece de cuento gracias por su video Sonia Guerrero de Argentina💝💝💝🙋🙋🙋🙋
Really nice videos, very well put together. I really enjoyed the online tours! Best of luck with your project.

@@olivergerrish7680 you are so welcome. It's a real art to bring buildings and stories to life in an engaging and inclusive way. I hope you have more up your sleeve in the months to come. Telling and sharing stories is the stuff of dreams.
I'm sorry to see the number of videos reduce! Hopefully they will be put back up - or perhaps replaced with new ones? It's really interesting to learn about these wonderful places.

Pukka English gent! Lovely. So sad that the politics of envy destroyed so many of these houses as working estates and homes, and drove many owners to sell to the National Trust. My great-grandparents were respectively cook and gamekeeper on a large estate. They had a wonderful life, according to my grandmother, who spent her summers with them.

@@MsArishiaNishi "Equity?" like in the Soviet Union, Cuba, North Korea or China? I take your point, but let's not whitewash the fact that it was the post-war Labour government's mission to ruin anyone who owned land and one of these lovely houses. Lucky for Jeremy Corbyn, his family hung onto their lovely, large, countryhouse. Which he seems to have had no problem with inheriting.
@hunterluxton5976

Not quite. It's not the politics of envy that destroyed them, but the buffoons who own them can't afford to run them. They are then sold to the National Trust. May be consider where the wealth came from in the first place.

@@hunterluxton5976 History cannot be erased,,nor can some kind of utopia be created simply by destroying that which was, by our modern reckoning, ill-gotten. That is the way of the Maoists - back to "Year Zero" and erasing history. The "buffoons" who had custodianship over these estates and houses employed entire communities. The post-war Labour government set out deliberately to destroy rural Britain, eliminate the agrarian way of life, and create a state that ruled and ran everything. Using death duty and high income tax, they achieved this. The result is the mess that Britain is today.

Fascinating historical gems come through. Just wish a few more subtitles, or rather the interviewees' names could remain on screen a little longer.
woud have preferred having much more footage of inside features and appointmets, as opposed to outside ontent. overall, however, tere is a good bit of interesting material.

I think they should paint the columns outside Chillington Hall to make it look nicer....as the saying goes first impression's count.
Excellent. Love it. Maybe a 1 hour show per house!!
Wish you had done more videos.
Be more Darcy, less Bingley, especially in the intro. That would be a winner. Although, I love the content. The house is beautiful, the decor is sublime, and the family history is real a life timeline of current times. I love the whole estate.

Thank you and you are correct; I did NOT know that one didn't necessarily require a title to be considered aristocracy. I knew about wealthy commoners (Bess of Hardwick?) but that people like that were not allowed to have certain privileges.

now compare them to inner city living accommodation in the poor regions towns etc.........and never forget that the poor people built these buildings etc,,, the poor shaped every stone hauled every rock, stone etc. . now the poor people have to pay to even view or park . ..
Would be nice if FOR ONCE one of these programs would spend the time actually showing the house, walking from room to room, instead of blah, blah, blah, Lucy Worsley, blah, blah, blah. I suppose that is too much to ask for since there are formulas to follow.
