@@Rat-Builder The "I've never had one fail" is because they aren't bringing it back to you. Every single technician has had things fail. Sometimes it was your fault, sometimes it's a bad part, sometimes it's random. There isn't a ton of room for error on bearing preload. I've seen a lot of diffs destroyed because someone thought they could feel what was correct. The pinion is the easiest to correctly set, so why wouldn't you? Even the Dana axles with shims are quick to get right. The fact that you even had to state you did at least one thing correct tells me all I need to know.

Yukon is a third party purchaser. What that means is that a lot of store fronts don't but enough volume from say Spicer to get the price down. Yukon builds a list of people like this then they put in a large purchase order for optimal pricing. Then resells them to the people on their list with a small mark up. All this is drop shipped to the customer so the actual Yukon I think is actually a couple of offices with no warehouse which is how they make money. The reason for explaining this is so those who don't know now know that everything from Yukon is coming from the big brand manufactures like Spicer, Eaton and so on. Unless things have changed recently there should be no cheap china junk. This should be all the good stuff made in the U.S.A.

I’ve bought lots of Yukon gears , lockers and master rebuild kits for off-road and drag race applications as wells as street vehicles. usually come with timken bearings (made in USA) And I’ve never seen a gear set or carrier etc not come packaged / labeled by Yukon. However the incorporated address is that of Randy’s ring and pinion / Randy’s world wide auto (10411 airport rd Everett wa 98204) so who knows but it’s always good stuff

Boys boys boys. Carrier jig starts with pulling the pin, finding a 3/4 all thread rod 36” long, some coupler nuts, and grade 8 or higher washers in the right diameter to sit on the carrier housing axle portal. From there you should be able to figure out how to press and pull carrier bearings with ease. I’ve also adapted the same jig for a pinion by welding the old pinion nut(NEVER REUSE) to one end of said 3/4 coupling nuts to extend the pinion threads via all thread so a second coupler nut, a washer, and pipe could line up on the all thread to press pinion bearing.

Every now and again Matt you do something that makes me think "hmm, not just a pretty face is he?" A lot of mechanics wouldn't know how to lap a diff and will through their entire career without doing one. Not many who can design, build and then set up a fabricated suspension system either, especially using string lines and squares. Me, I would have gone for ARB Airlockers rather than a Detroit style of locker, I like the control I have over when they are in and when they are out, no sudden surprises.

I wish I had half the knowledge as you guys and was lucky enough to have a dad that could teach me half as much as Matt has taught Rudy. While Matt was teaching Rudy something useful I was learning how to weigh and sell drugs definitely something I’m glad I’ve never used in life. I’d much rather know how to do some fab work. Matt did encourage me to spend a thousand dollars and buy a welder setup to start teaching myself on and I’m getting pretty good (okay halfway descent) good enough to build my daughter stuff and hopefully teach her one day. I have much more to learn hopefully I’ll get a plasma cutter this month I definitely under estimated the amount of practice and knowledge it takes to be good at welding. Matt deserves a dad of a lifetime award or something I don’t even know him and I look up to him and hope to be like him one day.
