As Bhante said at minute 19:52 _"Whenever you choose to act you will do so in regard to how you feel."_ That is why it is important to understand not only feeling & perception but also mental volition. _When the nutriment 'mental volition" is fully understood, the three kinds of craving are fully understood. (SN12.63)_ The Blessed One explained it with the simile ... _Then two strong men would grab him by both arms and drag him towards the charcoal pit. ..._ With Metta 🙏🙏🙏

Thank you Bhante, these Dhamma discussions are greatly appreciated. It is sad how misguided and foolish many 'Buddhist practices and traditions' are in the present day.

I just recently stumbled upon this monastery via KZread and I'm very grateful for these teachings. I'm planning on taking a trip to Nilambe when my circumstances allow. I will reach out via email to see if it is possible to drop in and drop off some dana, if you need anything specifically that I can bring in from the United States I would be happy to include that in my plans. Thank you Bhante! Sadhu For the teaching Bhante! I will quote what you said in the video. You have said "you think you act only when you are kind of aware of what you want to do but even now while we are talking my hands are moving my feet change position all of these things so the body keeps acting in it's own domain in it's own regard but you regard that as seccondary to my action that i choose to voluntarily volitionaly perform its other way around the only reason you can choose and perform things with extra layer of volition is beacuse the body allows you. "Sitting scratching the body does that on its own" My questions is the following = you talked about how the body acts on its own how would I see this in regard to the mind and thought how is the mind acting on its own in its own domain ? and how am I putting my intentional action that I choose to perform first and ownership and what and how that intentional action is seccondary to how the mind acts on its own. I will quote what you said in a video and ask a quesiton. The choice that you can excercise over the organs lumps of flesh of your eyes is the choice within that domain you can choose not to look at this to look at something else but you have no choice about looking as in seeing the domain of the seeing you are subjected to it you have no control over it what is the characteristics of being subjected to things even if it is pleasant it is really unpelasant beacuse of the fact that you are subjected to them you have no say in them you are opressed by them your sense of ownership is seccondary to the thing being given in the first place. you said we can can choose to not to look at this and choose to look at that but "seeing" is inaccessible to us, what is the domain (as you described seeing) that is inaccessible in the domain of the mind and thought and what is the the choice I can perform within the domain. You said that we should have clarity in regards to all of the 6 domains because without clarity we assume. With Metta Sadhu Sadhu Sadhue

So from my understanding of this point of view is that the Mahasi Sayadaw technique of Satipatthana Vipassana is obsessed with what's in the foreground of the mind and not in the peripheral which is the background/root of actions. Therefore observing what's within the domain of craving/sensuality cannot lead you to what's beyond that domain (non-craving). Is that correct? If this is so then the correct method would be to observe the motivation behind each action . Is this correct? but this is not easy since the background of the mind is not very clear

Mahasi noting method is to train the mind to observe accurately what is happening. So for example, you don't get carried away by reliving past memories, but instead note that you are only remembering. Buddhism is about the training of your mind, there are many methods to do so
