Forget Joaquin Phoenix´s age, which is obviously not right for the role ( he´s way too old to play Napoleon), what I want to know is: why does he play Napoleon like if he´s playing again Arthur Fleck from Joker? Napoleon Bonaparte was by all historical accounts an extremely charismatic, energetic, brilliant & shrewd military commander/statesman/ leader of men. In this movie, Napoleon is NONE of this.

Why ?? Why he play addict roles and psychiatric cases roles ??? ´cause he fit with this roles. He is addict and crazy. It’s look like they put a depressive crack addict in this role it’s ridiculous.

@@iamgermane Absolutely not, they should have gotten a younger actor and put some make-up on him for the last part of the movie where he plays the older Bonaparte, to make him look older. Digital de-aging tech is still not good enough.
Napoleon was born in 1769, he would have been 34 when he was crowned Emperor. Joaquin Phoenix, pushing 50, looked it, plump with big body did not look like Napoleon who was slim, boyish and charismatic. I admire Ridley Scott for his many movies, but sadly his Napoleon should have been played by a much younger actor.

34 in 1800s did look old for today's standards
My favorite historical figure, in one of my favorite moments. He invited the pope to Paris, which during this time was a hard trip, just to embarrass and upstage him. I wish I had the chance to go back in time and talk to the man that arrived in France a refugee and 5 years later was the emperor. A unique and deeply interesting figure in history.
Napoleon was 34, youthful, energetic, charismatic, experienced but still young enough to dare on the principle of "but what if it works?" This is the opposite of that.
Ridley Scott should know when to just lie down and give up

This scene, and the one in which Nappie is sent running with his tail between his legs while attempting the coup of Brumaire are the best bits of this movie. The rest is ridiculous!

Without a doubt, the best part of that movie! It's like seeing artwork come alive. Nice work, costume department and set production team.
The Crown Jewels of France are something to behold in the Louvre.
I love Ridley Scott but like others have said, I believe his Napoleon is way too old. Perhaps seeing he had worked with JP before in the wonderful Gladiator, and liked him and his acting then, so although it's 23/24 years later, 'plumped' for JP again. Who knows what goes on in the mind of a great director?

@@williambaglme819 That would be a reasonable assumption, unless you just looked at the other nobility in the background. They could quite literally be the same age or even older than Napoleon but still look twice as young. Stop defending this, JP is a fantastic actor, but he's just not fit for the role in his current age. These are the same defenses I saw when the Irishman came out and everybody couldn't figure out why CGI and makeup couldn't make an 80 year old look 30.
There is a Mini french Serie called "Napoleon" with "Christian Clavier" from 2002 if you peoples are interested in it, but I do not know if it's available in english, audio or subtiles.

Es de una misa bastante larga de Joseph Haydn . El nombre en cuestión es "the creación", lo que aparece es exactamente el final de toda la obra
It appears that everyone who commented on this clip will not be watching the movie. Good thing the streaming sales will cover the 200 million production budget. The worldwide appeal means less than 25% of viewers and their cash came from the U.S.
Napoleon said it like this *“I found a crown in the kennel; I cleansed it from its filth, and placed it on my head"*

IT WAS A MISTAKE OF JOAKIN PHOENIX TO ACT IN THIS FILM. AFTER JOKER, WHICH HAD SUCH HUGE IMPACT, HE SHOULD WAIT FOR THE SEQUEL JOKER 2, AND THEN MAKE ANOTHER MOVIE. EVERYBODY WAITS FOR JOKER 2. A "NAPOLEON" IN BETWEEN BLURRED THE IMAGE, AND WAS CONDEMNED TO PASS UNNOTICED. JOAKIN S MANAGER SHOULD HAVE WARNED HIM...NAPOLEON WAS AN INTERLUDE (A WRONG ONE) BETWEEN TWO JOKERS.

No, it is not. The portrayal of Napoleon is pathetic; he always looks bored. I feel sorry for Phoenix but this is definitely not a part for him. The gross historical errors are definitely not to be forgiven. It is not enough to try to create showmanship if you are making a historical film, especially when it is based on a character as charismatic and skilled as Napoleon. Those who appreciate this film really know nothing about history or even less about Napoleon.

@@HextorBane So, if you like the movie, than your’e stupid ? Maybe it requires more than juste looking at inaccuracies. What Napoleon said about his battles, his campaigns and his works are full of lies, nurtured by propaganda and his will of power. Then, it’s not awful to me that representing Napoleon according to his point of view is full of nonsense. Somehow, what Ridley Scott showed us could have been how Napoleon described his life. Again, it requires more than juste saying « It’S NOt HiSToRiCaL » ! If you want to learn history, go get a nice book or a dedicated video, but not a movie from hollywood.

Well, that didn't happen. It was agreed long before the coronation that Napoleon would crown himself and the Pope agreed (not that his disaproval would have changed anything). Napoleon certainly didn't snatch anything from anybody's hands during the coronation.
Months after the release, I'm still disappointed by this movie. It promised to be really good, but Scott ended up trolling us all, giving us 2 hours of Napoleon and cringephine arguing in bedroom, and 0 real story. As an history student, this movie hit me harder than my father (negatively)
