I've ridden Harleys, Hondas and Kawasakis. I bought this same Bobber standard (same paint scheme as your test bike) two years ago and it is the closest thing to a flawless machine i have experienced. Incredible, Triumph hit the ball out of the park with this one. I'll never want a different bike.

@@Guy-mx4fb I have a 2018 Bobber standard in Ironstone gray and I agree with every assessment he mentioned in the video regarding its riding and handling characteristics. You could make this a first bike, yes it will fulfill that role and go on to be a fun bike later on too as your experience level rises. It was not my first motorcycle though (but it was my first brand new motorcycle), I had others prior to the Bobber that were lighter and lower displacement. This bike is good for a shorter rider, someone under 6ft like myself fits comfortably on it and I have no issues putting both feet flat on the ground at a stop, so its good in that regard for a first bike. What you need to be aware of about this bike is that 1200ccs is a lot of power and this bike is no slouch, it pulls like a train and handles very well so the temptation to ride above your experience level does exist with it and that can lead to trouble for a new rider especially. If you end up with one just take it easy until you're more experienced. You will grow into this bike, and you will get a lot of good attention and thumbs up from people as you ride it.

I am in your age group, yes the very under rated Daytona 500cc twin of the 70s was a nice machine once sorted out. I nearly bought a new one then. But family persuaded me to get a Honda K4 350cc twin. A horrible machine it turned out. Holed a piston in the first 500 miles. Faulty from the factory an useless dealers mechanics. Put it right myself, was very reliable after that. Triumph now, way overpriced an under engineered. Fake Plastic Carbs! What the heck! If you want a cheap an good twin with old style charm but reliable, try the Royal Enfield 650cc Continetal GT. Frame from Harris Brothers in England. I have the 535cc single Continental GT I bought new in 2015. Same Harris frame, Brembo brakes an Italian forks an rear suspension. Pulls like a Steam Loco, goes round corners like it is on rails on back roads. l have done a few sensible mods to it engine wise. Will will just touch the magical Ton, timed not on the speedo. If the RE twin is not for you, try the Kawasaki 650cc parallel twin, I have heard good things about it. An NO fake plastic Carbs fitted! I hope this is of some use to you an others. I love my 1982 Moto Guzzi Le Mans 850cc, but would Never buy a new Guzzi now. The Screaming Eagle has Sadly lost its flight feathers.

Whenever you mentionTriumph, my mind goes back to my high school days and a good friend had a 650 Bonneville with a kick start on it. A beautiful blue color, lots of chrome, and he was bigger and stronger than me and it took all he had to start his bike up. Very high compression motorcycle and he could do it and make it look easy. Kick start, real carburetors, that was way before they had forged wheels for anything, so he had spokes and it was an impressive bike to say the least. Triupm has always stayed ahead of the market and built a bike that turned heads and performed like way beyond peoples imagination!

Lew. Haha, thanks for that. Just for the record I don't live in Milwaukee, though I get the sentiment. I live in Australia. Oh and I'm glad you wave at Guzzi owners as I ride a 1980 Guzzi LeMans Mk2. A genuine classic, made with passion by a team of people to whom the factory (still) is intrinsically linked with the local community. It's not a totally fake (in every sense) psuedo custom bike, made by robots in Thailand. When I ride my bike it's because I love it, it has a soul and not because I'm trying to fool the general public into thinking that I've created some sort of special unique bike in my basement. Oh and by the way, having ridden for 40 years, I also still wave at anyone on two wheels. Glad to set the record straight.

@@dave6467 Dave: I wish that you lived closer to Pittsburgh Pennsylvania because I'd definitely invite you for a beer and a ride on one of our incredible roads in the area--I'd even loan you the Bobber! My current "stable" includes a 2007 Harley Custom Deluxe, 2018 Bobber, 2005 Yamaha FJR1300 (old man's crotch rocket) and 2012 Triumph Explore Tiger Explorer. I've been riding since 1973---it's an addiction that I love. Sadly, I had to trade in my 2014 Moto Guzzi California because there are no mechanics in the area for service. I also just sold a 2002 BMW R1200C because they are a pain to work on. Going into last winter, the battery went dead---I had to remove the gas tank and the fuel lines to replace the battery. The 20-year old fuel lines fell apart when I removed them. Anyway, thanks for being a good sport and a fellow rider. I've got a 2018 Bobber Black. Only issue I have is the tank size. If you do longer rides you will be stopping to fill up a bit. I ended up buying a little gas bottle in case we were out on some back road far from the next gas station. Speedmaster tank is a direct fit and is bigger if you can get your hands on one. Other than that I love the bike.

Triumph have definitely started making really good bikes again. Even their new modern superbikes are beautiful these days and I've never ridden one but there supposed to ride really well too.

I kind of dig the ammo cans to be honest. At least with the bobber seat it looks right. It's a pretty bike for sure.

Several years back I went to the home of a British man who lived in my Louisiana town. He had a Bonneville bagger. Red with white accentstons of chrome and a wind shield similar to what you can find on a road king.it was a special edition Bonneville but I can't recall what was it's sub name that it was more known as. I knew something was missing having watched through out the holidays I was missing the proverbs.

Always been a fan of true bobbers. I would always cringe when someone on those motorcycle reality shows would say they are building a bobber and then show some chopper, with a crazy rack, and longer that my truck. Just because you “bob” the fenders, don’t make it a bobber. This is by far the best looking factory bobber I have ever seen. I still prefer the look of my ‘68 BSA Thunderbolt bobber, but I am sure the Triumph is a much better ride, and easier to start (kick start only on my BSA). I am kinda glad I don’t live near a Triumph dealer, I would probably have less in my bank account if I did.
