Had a 4.7 Dakota for 8 years. That hood slam brought back nostalgia😂

One time while I was out on a nature walk I saw Tom coming out of the woods with a grizzly bear on his back and a bloody knife in his other hand. He really loves the woods.

Same! I've always said the smaller trucks are so much more reliable than the full sized trucks and more fun to drive! The Dakota has always been my favorite out of the 3. Mainly cuz you don't see people doing much with them all that much. I see lots of s-10s and rangers but hardly any Dakota's. Everyone I talk to say they wouldn't want one but I try to tell them you find one with a 5speed and they are damn near bullet proof lol

In 2002-03 my grandfather had a silver quad cab 4.7/5 spd sport. Was a badass truck back then. For a guy in his mid 70s we had a blast in that truck.

I ordered one of these new in 2000. Wanted the V8 but they were very hard to get so I settled for a 5spd v6 magnum. These original 5spd v8 trucks are stupid rare. Oh....and I never missed a gear in mine😂

They’re easy to swap a manual in. The 4.7 is a pile of dogshit tho. The 318 is the one you want. The 360 ones are super expensive now.

I hate to admit it but ain't nothin colder than a Dodge Dakota ... I have a 00 quad cab with the 5.9 and it has no business being that fun to drive

I have a 99 Dakota Sport 4x4 in Intense Pearl Blue that had the 318 but recently swapped in a 360 from a ‘00 Ram 1500, such a fun truck!

My dad has a 2002 Dakota R/T Never see these trucks get any love so it's nice to see a video on it

nother funny detail, in Brazil the R/T version came with the 316 5.2 V8 engine, without the cool wheels, nor the rear view mirrors or sport bumpers, it never came with the 360 ​​5.9 engine, only the Jeep Cherokee ZJ Limited came with the 360 ​​5.9. 😑😑

@@Thisappaintreal So, we only received the Dakota with the 3.9 V6 and 5.2 V8 engine, and in the case of the Cherokee, only the WJ came with the 4.7 V8 engine. However, it's strange, because there were some Durangos that came with the 4.7 v8. I had a level 3A fully armored Durango. with the 4.7 engine, jezus how slow this car was due to the extra weight, and stopping it was another big problem hahaha

@@Thisappaintreal Mine was a black Durango SLT 2000. It had around 700lbs of 3A armor. I loved that car, No one tried to get in front of it, And the weight of the doors when closing could easily break a leg or arm.

Tom posting a video ragging on an ol Dakota brings tears to my eyes, my daily is a 00’ Dakota 3.9 76k original miles rotted out but can be beat off the box over and over and still have 90 lbs of oil pressure 😂😂

I wish the 4.7 had more aftermarket support 😅,I had a jeep grand Cherokee 04 with the 4.7 and I love the torque and sound from it .

This vid was for me. Had 3 of these with varying engines. All manuals. I will call it now the 4.7 is going to fail with 3rd gear. It starts slow with higher temps. The other engines are hard to kill. Love these trucks.

This is great. The 4.7 V8 finally getting some attention! My pops had a 2000 Dakota RT and we've dragged over 30 times I've beaten him in my 04 Grand Cherokee 4.7 H.O. My pops RT did consistent 7.4 second 0 to 60. My 04 Grand Cherokee 4.7 H.O did low sixxes to 60 mph with a best of 6.0 flat DRAGY VERIFIED both were stock

I have a set of 4.7 H.O. cams out of an 04 Grand Cherokee I’d be willing send. Direct bolt in, don’t need to upgrade valve springs but it’s recommended. No added lift, only more duration and they’re good for around 30 extra hp. Can also be reground possibly, Crower used to make hot cams for 4.7s but stopped

I had one of these trucks back in high school. Once i graduated in 07 i built it into a 383 stroker. That thing could MOVE! Unfortunately, i wrecked it and totaled it. I still miss that ruck to this day
