That’s because the shit was not grown by them, hella white label, just grabbing hella random packs from anyone they could try to call runtz. The runtz people never once took the time to come with a real strain, literally jumped in to the market through Mylar bags a good name and then ran into real business problems of having to come with high quality material CONSISTENTLY. Big Bern has said multiple times as has anyone else involved, you have to come with quality genetics consistently. Then you have the point of this story which is just arguing over merch numbers. These dudes half assed a brand and now it’s watered down and anyone with a runtz glow tray is looked at like an idiot. Especially considering there are tons of them coming from DHgate and alibaba fakes from china further diluted the brand.

Why did Cookies and connected Cannabis co (the company who ACTUALLY GREW THE COOKIES STRAIN FROM SCRATCH) Split up? Because CCC got tired of paying Berner 10,000 a month to make Instagram posts, and he wasnt even doing that as he was supposed to be. So they took their strains, and changed the name so they didnt have to pay berner anymore. Cookies is a franchise name that is all. People pay him to put that name on a dispo to hopefully drive more business, and it worked great for a time. But when you have crappy products, sell moldy products and dont care. Charge 3x more than anyone else for the SAME exact stuff... You are doomed to fall off eventually. Look up "First smoke of the day" an interview they did with Connected Cannabis Co. Very VERY enlightening.

Got a popular strain, new strains in the pipeline, marketing and the name but don't have the license and infrastructure and distribution and storefront side of the business sewn up. IMO Runtz was a brand looking to focus on expansion, and use its creative marketing to fill in the gaps of the small markets. Their Hype does well with 1st timers, etc… breaking into a FULLY realized market such as California was never their main goal. At least from the outside looking in; I would have been more “hands on” and more realistic/specific with my priorities. How a 15+ relationship was ruined when Raybama had access to the vision from the jump is questionable. How was the jealousy allowed to fester? Why wasn’t it worked out in house? You would think he absorbed enough game to strike out on his own. If I had to guess the division boils down to Ego and Raybama believing he’s owed for all the years of the Cookie campaign

I think the weed business is like the music industry. Alot of shitty contracts or there. But if you work with the big dog, it ain't a fair deal most of the time. You can go independent, but it's a lot harder. But if you are breeding and constantly innovating, you should be able to make it. Just like underground music, you can still do alright on the street locally.

I'm glad I never bought into the hype. Even before shit was on dispensary shelves I'd hear all the local dealers talking about "I got that diesel, mr. nice guy, cookies, runtz this and that.." Year after year, As rappers were/are poppin they'd say a strain and suddenly everyone was "selling it". Its all hype if you ask me, just paying for the label.

Official Cookies and Runtz is fire if you get them from the right grower Problem is most of the cookies and runtz are being mass produced hard to really get craft quality on that scale Berner you need more quality control too many stores too quickly bring on more potheads like me to test final product make sure it passes qc whoever you got doing it now is missing the mark no need to water down the brand
