🏜The Continental Divide: The Hard Tracks Episode 1

Фильм және анимация

After driving 23 hours straight from Tennessee we arrived in Antelope Wells, New Mexico. We dropped the bikes in Hachita, and headed south to the border to start the trail. We had about 3 hours of daylight left, but wanted to knock out the first section of off-road, and start ahead of the game our first full day. The first bit of trail was fairly tame aside from several sandy sections. There were a few rocky sections but nothing too serious. I dropped the bike about a mile from the end of the trail in a deep section of sand where several tracks were crossed. I picked up the bike, and continued on to Hachita where we stayed the night. I would have no idea what the next day would hold. Stay tuned for episode 2!

I own a red T660 as well. Looking forward to following along and seeing how the bike performed for you. I just finished a 2000 mile BDR ride and had zero problems with the bike. Coming from a BMW F800 I'm amazed at how light and easy it is to handle off road and how smooth it is on road. The electronics have been flawless so far. Very happy with the bike.

That's awesome! I dig the black and red myself. Which BDR did you do? I've been watching several and haven't seen many I didn't like. And I agree, the Tuareg has been a pleasure so far on and offroad. Same for me with the electronics as well, no issues there at all. And thanks for following along. Episode 2 should bring some more excitement. This episode was just a few hours left of daylight we didn't want to go to waste, so we hit the trail. Fairly tame but had some sand. Towards the end of episode 2 and beginning of what will be episode 3 wore me out. That was the most sustained gnarly stuff I've ever ridden. I've never seen a hard day like that on any bike. You'll get to see most all of it unfiltered as well. I don't cut the shame out haha. Helps me learn and ride better. Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy it!

Enjoying the series! Were you following a particular track - or did you create your own route?

I hope you've watched past Episode 1! 😅 My editing was just getting started. So we were following a combo of Mountainman and Cannonshots tracks. Cannonshots tracks are fairly tame, but we added in Mountainmans for the hard tracks and it's enduro style. Tons of fun. And thank you for stopping by and watching!!

@JeepinTheMost Thanks for watching! Each episode is crawling towards the good stuff. The first bits are open desert which can get a bit boring but episodes 2 and 3 have some decent action in them. I'm running a Motoz Rallz front and Motoz Desert H/T rear. They "were" awesome. I lost the rear to a pocket knife blade in Colorado, and the front to a thorn I picked up in New Mexico. Even a vulcanized plug wouldn't save it. Be sure to check out some to the Teaser videos I have up. Some great content coming up!

@@calineeeeee Thanks for stopping by! So it won't let me share them through KZread comments as far as I know, but I can guide you to them if you have a Facebook! 1. Join the Continental Divide Motorcycle Trail (The Great Divide) group. 2. Go to the files section 3. Click to download "CDR The Hard Way"gbd 4. Click to download "CDR 15x2000gpx We loaded both and saw the differences and chose the hard tracks where we could. Do you have a Facebook?

I’m really surprised you didn’t end up with bent bars or anything, are these trail bikes designed to take falls?

@catnip1171 I installed the Hepco and Becker bars and had no issues through 7 or 8 low speed drops, and another 1 or 2 intentional layovers to let some MX guys past me on the single track stuff, and then once on Monarch Pass as it was too steep to kickstand it. All good. I have seen bends and breaks with Outback Motortrek, Motea, and Heed however. Thankfully the H&B bars are tough, and also have 2 supporting connecting points at the front of the bike for equal shockload distribution. I've got episode 2 saving then uploading now. I didn't drop the bike in Episode 2, but Episode 3 will have a few drops if I remember correctly. Episodes 2 and 3 are where the real fun begins. Stay tuned!
