See I feel that too. That's why propaganda has been so fierce and unrelenting. Trump and the MAGA machine of right wing news and politicians that is marching us towards facism has been so successful in spreading the fear of leftists to their supporters that they don't even see or care just how much democracy is eroding before their very eyes. If your opponent is not just wrong and different from you but actually truly deeply EVIL and in league with Satan and will literally stop at nothing to take away everything you hold dear.... Then democracy isn't a safe form of government anymore. Because a true democracy always leaves the potential that your EVIL opponents can still regain power and carry out their EVIL plans. That is the point of this project and the point of conservative propaganda. The day is coming when people in the GOP will openly and full-throatedly say the only way to prevent elections from being stolen is to stop having elections all together. If the people we want to have power can take hold and consolidate power then the only safe course of action is to exterminate or at least subjugate those who oppose us. Trump doesn't believe in or respect democracy. This is obvious to anyone paying attention. He praises world leaders who increase their power and silence those who try to check their power or criticize their decisions. This is the type of leader he wants to be. American fascism also gets my attention as a british person - I do have american friends but on my front it’s likely that Labour will get into power next and they are trying to do New Labour again, with the Leader of Labour being extremely subservient to USA interests and foreign policy, and our left has been dragged so far to the right that they are just going to maintain the status quo until the tories regroup and get into power again. There’s a guy called Nigel Farage that is probably the man most singularly responsible for the current overton who very well could rejoin the tory party and become the leader, and he’s tactically a lot more sound and intelligent than trump or boris johnson. The US has really been the most active manufacturer of fascism in history. The fascist problem wasn't resolved after WWII. It was instead weaponized by the US/NATO countries against socialist states. The post-WWII hegemonic liberal capitalist order in the West has been keeping fascism like a rabid dog on a leash to sic on disobedient countries (mostly in the Global south) but they don't realize that by not addressing the issue of fascism in a meaningful way it doesn't remain contained only to the periphery. Somewhere around the 1:20:00 mark, a Hasan reads a comment stating the project 2025 document talks about setting up camps/who to send there (presumably concentration camps?)... I ran a word search in the "project 2025" PDF on "camp" but couldn't find what they were talking about. Does anybody know what page this is on, or what language they use to describe it? Or if this is even true? I'm doing an outline doc about some key parts of project 2025... Specifically how it relates to trans and LGBTQ people. But the document is like 900 pages, so if anybody can point me in the right direction, that would be a huge time saver :)

Maybe try the search term "detention centers" or "encampments" - maybe even "internment facility" or "segregated neighborhoods". There's a whole list of terms they could use to avoid using common language that people would automatically associate with a fascist takeover, so they likely avoided the use of the words "concentration camps".

In 1976, it was a non-starter for a candidate to call himself a socialist. Forty years later, Bernie Sanders did that and became our nation’s most popular politician. I can’t credit the hapless left with that. It seems to me we can thank Republicans for having effectively redefined socialism as meaning _anything_ that benefits the working class. Bernie is, at least in practical policy terms, merely a social democrat; running in the Democratic Party primary, he could appropriately have called himself a New Deal Democrat. That’s not actual socialism, but it’s a big change from the Cold War that now the word is for most Americans not a boogie man against which to slam the door, but one that gets a listen to what’s being pitched.

Now is a good time to take some firearms safety courses and embrace your 2nd amendment right to bear arms. If you're in a marginalized community you're at risk and you have the ability to defend yourself. Get educated and be prepared. These people prey on the weak but crumble like any other bully when their targets actually challenge them. Im speaking purely from a self defense perspective and as hopefully a deterrent from future incursions.

This is much like the aphorism "it takes one generation to create a fortune, and three to destroy it". The paleo-conservatives created these principles in order to control the population and prevent a larger, more helpful (i.e. socialist) government and economy. A tiny handful of true believers who were permitted in symbolic leadership roles, but kept far from positions of real power and responsibility. It didn't matter if these principles were true or not, because they were ntended for the consumption by "little people" and were merely a means to an end (low taxes and high shareholder value); a justification for their hierarchy. The next generation of conservatives, however, allowed a few true-believers in leadership roles, because it made more an easier time in purveying these ideas and policies. After all if these principles weren't true, then why would conservatives"rise to the top" in stations of the meritocracy they rightfully ruled-over? These new leaders often brought along followers who were reliable voters, but they demanded direct action and voted accordingly. Finally, we arrive at the final incarnation. The third generation; populated only by those with religious zeal for conservatism. The implementation of the original principles that have become the only and actual goal. Low taxes and high shareholder value, are indistinguishable from the conservative principles they can cite from heart. Absolute, wild-eyed true believers and dedicated cult members, who've purged anyone with lingering doubt. They are 100% the holders of Truth, because anyone who thought otherwise has been purged from their ranks ass heretics and BINOs, believers-in-name-only. They've never entertained any alternative; having grown up listening to their half-believing grandparents, and reluctant, but adherent, parents. It's where we are now. They are the most dedicated, true, but they're also the least productive and least capable of true leadership. They have no real impediments to their power, yet their program is threatened pervasively. They're completely unable to strategize, because they've never once contemplated the "other side"; the embodiment of "true evil". They've never been tested, because their material wealth has raised them in indolence and prevented them from having to be told "No". They have no imagination for creating new strategies and implementing new programs because they're so dedicated to their religion. The means has now become the end.
