The Conor McGregor Show (UFC 178 Post Press)

Спорт

www.MMAWeekly.com/ -- At a time when MMA needed a hero, in came a brash witty young man from Ireland. The Conor McGregor phenomena is "bigger than anything I've ever seen before," said UFC president Dana White at the UFC 178 post-fight press conference.
After the event, where 10-percent of the tickets sold in Las Vegas were to fans from Ireland, McGregor held court fielding questions from the punch - was it legit or not - to his injured hand going into the fight to holding the championship belt.
You would think that McGregor was already the champ and the main eventer as even the champion, Demetrious Johnson - arguably the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world - was only asked one question at a press conference for an event he headlined, only to sit in Conor McGregor's shadow.

Anyone still offended by Conor's demeanour needs to grow thicker skin! He just does what the best of the charismatic sports stars have done for years. Ali, Mayweather, Sugar Ray, Eric Cantona, Shaq, Hopkins, Maradona, LeBron... the list goes on All these men created a hype train for themselves because they were confident in their ability. Like Conor, they could all back it up because of their talent. Its showboating, its entertainment, its buiness... it makes us watch. But the one point you need to remember is that they can do this because they are damn good.

I didn't know this dude before I seen him on Worldstar today but now I'm officially a fan. Mayweather is my favorite boxer that fights right now so of course I like trash talkers who knows how to use their personality to make money. Really smart men. This guy is really humble though and I can tell. And that suit is definitely some shit I would wear. My style.

The Mccgregor show, we got Demetrious Johnson there, which Connor pays respect to him, and Dominick Cruz. I saw it in him from the beginning, hes just knows how to play MMA game so well. He said it himself "Get in, Get rich, Get out." He says what hes gonna do and he does it. The man!

It's so strange to see that this kid would be the one to topple everyone off. Bring in most PPvs and become the biggest MMA star ever. Yet he was so much more humble, eloquent in his speech and down to earth. Then fame hit him (i'm not saying he's a totally different person) But in this particular case you'll notice how much has faded and new persona arrived. This is what fame and money does to people. I'm not a mcgregor till i die fan but it's iconic. Something that struck me was his line: I am cocky in prediction. I am confident in preparation. But i am always humble in victory or defeat. This used to be the case, but not anymore i feel. I really hope he comes back humble and more real to what he used to be.

After McGregor dominates Aldo there will be no more doubt. There isn't a Featherweight in the world that could beat Conor, barring some freak accident or lucky punch. The Lightweight division is another beast. That's where he'll face equal competition with guys like Dos Anjos, Pettis, Cerrone, and Khabib.

I recently experienced a bit of a crisis while discussing martial arts with a fellow denizen of my wood, I was while I was also carrying a dozen beer in a limited edition Moosehead Lager box. A handle on each side of it, it had. To make a long story short, one of the handles gave way as I went to shake this man's hand in a farewell gesture, and a corner of the box hit the pristine clean sidewalk - der was foam foamin' - up and everything. So anyway I apologize for my carelessness to not cradle the thing under my arm, sweep some of da foamy lager into the gutter and hustle the last eighty-eight steps back to my front step, in the door and into the bathroom with the stand-up shower like a handsomely dressed ninja. Stick the decrepit, but still mostly-intact box into the stall, crank on the cold water, open the top, rescue the nine uninjured green bottles, leave the broken evidence - 3 caps, untouched and attached to their glass mouths. Being that I'm a regular, I don't fear they'll refuse to offer me an appropriate discount, and possibly notify the boys that they might want to stick with the old heavier grade containers. Anyway, here goes one of nine. Bottoms up!
