Chris Ruiz : How do you know the details of the ownership of that IP? Roseanne Barr may have helped create those characters, but that doesn't mean she owns the rights to the IP. She was an unknown when ABC/Disney offered her a show. If ABC/Disney didn't own the IP, they couldn't have fired Roseanne, and then continue with the show without her.

Gerald N. she owns full rights to the show. She signed them over for this show to allow her friends to continue working. She still owns the rights as a whole. She got a small sum of money for the rights for this season of the conners

Her personal politics and comments aside, she created a character that most people could identify with. The characters and story lines hit close to home for so many people, and you either loved the show or hated it. I came from a loving, often crazy, blue collar working class family just north of Toronto. Roseanne was one of the most hilarious, real tv shows and I miss it.

Roseanne without Roseanne is just stupid. Not going to watch nor stand for this show

@@thehashtager4750 Hmmm...interesting because every other source out there says that the ratings have dropped quite a bit from the Roseanne reboot. Sure, over 10 million viewers watched the first episode of "The Connors"(and probably more out of curiosity to see if they could make it without Roseanne. However, I doubt they'll continue much after the first episode or the first few at the most.). It still had almost a 55% drop in viewers compared to the first episode of the Roseanne reboot last Spring(that's very telling as it's more than half!). But hey, you're free to believe whatever you want and support it though, but those are the facts in numbers. Personally, just based on peoples' reactions and the drop in ratings, I'd say this show is done after this first season as there just aren't enough people(those who were fans of the original show)who want to watch this spin off without her, it's just not the same. Anyway, I'm glad you love it so much, but many do not share that same sentiment. Enjoy it while it lasts!-lol.

I don't think it's fair to put blame on the actors. They are workers and they need work. All of them have to struggle to get work. Even a great actor like John Goodman don't get a lot of offers. They didn't get Roseanne fired.

At least she seemed to miss Roseanne but I was not impressed with Sarah's way of talking about it. Only Roseanne will bring the laughter and ratings.

I will never watch ABC again if they don't bring back Roseanne. There's no good comments on "The Conners" so what will it take for ABC to Bring back Roseanne??

If you miss Roseanne then you all should of backed her up. You know this women for over 20 years. You know what she’s about. Shame on all of you for moving on without her.

Let's face it, Lecy Goranson hasn't had a gig worth mentioning in 20 years since the original series ended, so of course she wanted the show to continue for her own selfish and likely financial reasons. Bottom line is always the almighty dollar isn't it?

Show wasn’t the same without Roseanne. I watched the 1st episode of The Connors but not as good without Roseanne.

I hope the cast enjoys this season because without Roseanne I doubt there’s a second season. Ratings are in the toilet. It’s going to cost the network big money all in the name of liberalism. So be it the cast should of stuck up for Roseanne and fought for at least leaving a window open for her to return someday.

This is NOT the 1st time ABC has robbed Roseanne Back In The 90s Roseanne Went To The Big Shots at abc and pitches a ROSEANNE Spinoff called LEON which they turned down 2 years later ellen premiered ABC took the credit for Roseanne's Idea

Don’t grieve but act! Do something and bring back Roseanne. Don’t mean to be rude but you guys are not all that! It was Roseanne that made you all shine. Watching the Conners is like if we had to watch I Love Lucy without Lucille Ball. The only two women worth watching and were unique actresses.

I have a GREAT idea for the show. Why not bring Roseanne back (on occasion) as the family ghost who continues to impose her strong will on the family in the form of thought bubbles, dreams or Topper-like apparitions. It would show she can be forgiven, but could just as easily be written out of the show for good if she butt-tweets again. It would be hilarious and give all us fans what we really want ... for her to be included again. I'm looking forward to the new season of the Conners. Good luck. 🙏💖💋

you realize these actors and actresses were all washed up after the RoseAnne show stopped airing many years ago no one would hire them..there are only three maybe that kept careers the rest NO ONE wanted them until RoseAnne asked them to do the show

Lecy is a good actress i have seen her in movies and the one that she was so awesome in is Boys Don't Cry 1999 she played the girl named Candace.

She is talking like she already knows this show isn't going to do that well but is hopeful she's wrong. They should have had Roseanne's back, they've known this woman most of their lives. It's sad how the bulk of them were willing to throw her under the bus to save their own butts and careers.. which I suspect is going to backfire on them in a big way .

The Darlene and Becky relationship was fun and very much part of the early success but kiss it goodbye forever because you've blown it. Learn what loyalty means and remember you are/were actors not cretins pandering to liberal causes.

The cast are nothing but Back stabbed, they be Nothing without Roasann. Nope Wont watch the Conners at all.

We remember Dan as always having Rosie's back except when in real life, when it mattered the most, he let Rosie and all his fans down. So sad!

ABC did what was “politically correct”. Sometime though, it’s ok to be wrong. Roseanne wii bounce back. Too much talent there! The first episode was overkill on her absence. I don’t agree with her being fired, much less killed off so horribly.

I'd love to be in that show, I've always liked Roseanne, she was the only reason I watched the original growing up, that and she reminded me a lot of my grandma. ☺️

Still watching it. I loved roseanne, I was heart broken to learn about how everything went down. However, the story of the family is what captivated me from the get go, so it's kinda interesting to see this turn and see them address the death of a significant main character which is something not many shows get to do.

It's already been proven that Lecy Goranson was irrelevant to Roseanne. They replaced her for seasons and no one cared. Actually people were happier with the hotter less annoying Becky.

I don’t think they had to have her day off what happens if they want her back I guess they’ll figure out something without Roseanne it’s not going to be the same

From interviews I have seen it seems like everyone in the cast was not bashing her except Sarah Gilbert.

Oh boy a "View" cast member and liberalism supporter crapped up this mess, go figure.

I kept watching her eyes to see if she was blinking in code. "I'm not doing this of my free will, they have a shotgun aimed at my head" Does this look like a hostage video or what? On the other side, its nice to hear about the cast coming together as a family after stabbing mom in back and throwing her under the bus afterword to save their jobs. Real heartwarming stuff, can you smell an Emmy? I can feel some sympathy for Lecy, I don't believe that she was one of the main conspirators. I think Gilbert and Fishman will pay a long term price career wise for their treachery.

Loved watching you in my younger days

Lazy actors who can’t and will NOT be able to find any other job in the business. They hold on to their old roles because no one will cast them as most of them are B-class actors. Their excuse is that when Roseanne was fired, everyone was out of a job. Well, too bad! That is life. Find another one!!! Will NEVER watch this show. It will be cancelled soon.

The New Rosy! show is coming - ABC SUCKS! James Woods to star with Rosanne in new Sitcom - ROSY! ABC retains the rights to the name “Roseanne,” so Barr will have to transition quickly to Rosy, but what could be better than a new name to represent her new start in life! The contrast between Barr’s demeanor and “Rosy” will also be good for some laughs when, with her perfect comedic timing, Barr first spits it out to Woods during introductions, as he pulls her away from the m-word. Over the rest of the pilot episode, Rosy would confide in Woods’ character that after 40 years of marriage, she discovered her husband had been having a long-time affair with her sister. Shocked, Rosy grabbed a few things and fled. Then the star decided a little revenge was needed, so she faked her own death. (The trolling with this story line might provide Barr the real-life equivalent.) Further dialogue would include Rosy assuming Woods’ character is some silver-spooned S.O.B., only to discover he was raised by a poor single mom who gave birth to him at 15, and that he accumulated his wealth by working his way through college then investing in real estate. The episode ends with Woods offering Rosy a job as the manager of one of his apartment buildings on the south side of Chicago. Plot lines from there prove abundant, with Rosy living in the apartment complex and interacting with the diverse set of tenants. The stories could be fresh, edgy, and real, while presenting conservatives authentically. Playing Woods off Rosy would also allow for “debates” on topics that divide the right, or separate social conservatives from pocket-book conservatives and populists. Scripts could engage the left honestly, as well. For instance, the second episode could feature Rosy forced to obtain fake documents to work and survive in the city, after having complained of illegal aliens. When she justifies her actions as born of desperation, a tenant who fled from gang violence in Central America could answer with a smile. Show less REPLY

I still love the cast!

The cast should have refused to continue on without Roseanne. They didn’t and showed they didn’t appreciate what Roseanne did for their careers.

If you had listened to Rosannes explanation you would not have and should not have thrown her under the bus. You should have had her back. Your show is nothing without Roseanne.

I think she and the other castmembers are not allowed to speak up their true minds about Roseanne being fired. I don't know what's going on there, but there's much more then the world is meant to know.

Bring Roseanne BACK!!! If you miss her (as well as the cast) then SPEAK UP and tell the writers you all want Roseanne back. Not just "oh we all miss Roseanne's presence on the show." You don't turn your back on a fellow cast member that helped you get you to where you are (even now) and think it's okay. Not only that, none of you kept up with her even AFTER the fact she was written off the show. If they can rewrite Dan's character back into the script when he was suppose to be dead from a heart attack, then WHY can't the writers rewrite the script and bring BACK Roseanne's character? They could easily say it was a mistake in medical records and Roseanne was in a coma and her and another patient's records got mixed up (medical mistakes happen) or something like that? Their's all different ways Roseanne's can be brought back.

Just make it like it was a DREAM. Everybody wakes up and hears ROSEANNE in the Kitchen making breakfast and talking on the phone with her loud crazy VOICE!!! All is well with the World!!! You do a two part episode on racial ethics in America and how it has effected this nation, and how we as citizens should do our part to STOP racial injustice in America and everywhere. I hope producers are hearing this. ROSEANNE must return or it will be like eating Apple Pie without Apples!!!!! Make it happen. ROSEANNE is a Republican and she supports TRUMP, but I don't think she intentionally was trying to hurt anyone, she is a comedian!!!! We all have said things that we didn't mean it the way it came OUT or wish we could take it back!!!!!! The Woman didn't deserve to be fired for this!!! I say all this and I am a VERY proud Black Man. I am NOT a fan but this was overkill!!

Instead of "grieving Roseanne", mourn your terrible decision to back ABC's false accusations instead of believing and trusting your mentor. . Can you possibly think your loyalty to the network will pay off when your show inevitably fails? Yeah, I don't either. Too bad you didn't have the character to stand up for Roseanne, then you might have had another opportunity to ride her coattails again.

Roseanne gave what she did because she wanted to see these people succeed regardless of what happened to herself, even when she was still upset by it, and it is weird to see so many commenters wanting these people to fail on her behalf, against her own choices otherwise.

@@TheFoolintherainn it's actually a reference the commentary letters and phone calls that were sent in to the old series back in the 90's, when they had Two different actors play Becky, they made a inside joke episode about it where DJ got older 'Dan' played as the older DJ, and the grandma took him to see a shrink, because he kept repeating that phrase.

Everyone is judging like everyone knows the real story of what's going on. Just making assumptions.

I miss Roseanne, but always had a crush on Lecy and still do. Still watch but there is something missing.

I like rossane but not having her made it look like real life and as much changing they had to do we all lose important characters in our own lives but change is the difficult part and what we miss from those that leave are the hardest part of moving forward
