This is so impressive for a percussionist, let alone a whole group of them together like that. They’re doing great

It’s refreshing to see someone leave a nice comment about the Blue Devils.. it seems there are many jealous people out there that just like to hate on successful groups.

The Ditty is a timeless phenomenon. Lines will still be playing it 50 years from now! Love it.

I KNOWTHE FORST THREE NUMBERS
In 1976 I joined a small drum and bugle Corp because I am a drummer. Little did know I was way out of my league. I had only been playing for about 2 years and there was just no way I could do the stuff the snare players were doing. So I played a bass drum. The first time I saw the Concord Blue Devils drum section play, I was so amazed. They have been doing outstanding things like this for 50 years. If you ever get a chance to see The Santa Clara Vanguard drum section, they give the Blue Devils a run for their money every year. By far these two drum corps are the nation's if not the worlds best.

This video always gets me hyped up
Why did they play the 15/16 measure in 7/8? They got rid of one shot right? I was trying to playing along and it threw me off. Thanks for the video!

I don't know for certain. What I've garnered from other comment threads is that they made that change so that (theoretically) the whole thing could be played to a quarter-note met. Perhaps so that it could be played while tracking.

YES THE DITTY!
This was the first video I ever saw on the internet in my sophomore year of high school which made me want to switch to percussion. Soon after that I was auditioning for DCI, didn’t get the chance to march outdoor but it opened the door for me to march Infinity and age out in the world line in ‘17 and go on to become an educator in the activity. Humble beginnings. Much love to this group and this activity✌🏽

Just got back from the ditty party 💀
Insane I wouldn’t know how to begin to read that music sheet!!
My high school line wanted to play this so bad, but we weren't good enough so our instructor wrote up "Ditty H20" and we sucked at that, too.

Lmao! Your poor instructor. Imagine doing all that schooling and getting a doctorate or a master's to be a music teacher, and after all that getting stuck with your group. Shit would give me an existential crisis.
Eles tocam muito tão de parabéns
Quick note: The Transcription is incorrect for this edition of Ditty. Ms. 9 should be a 7/8 bar, with a shot ending on the left. They did not have a 15/16 bar during this year. If you follow along, and slow down the tempo for the video, you can clearly see the phrase ending on the left. I'd make sure to mark the flam tap leading into that measure as well, as that kind of sets the sticking for the whole thing. (Ms. 10 leads with a left hand flam) Upvote this for visibility if you can!
I honestly do not understand how the human hand can move so fast without spontaneously combusting from the speed
PERFECTO!
