    I'm trying to figure out if he was convicted or not because it says he was convicted.

    The police officer was initially convicted, but he appealed his conviction to the US Supreme Court, and the Supreme Court held that his conduct did not violate the CFAA, so the conviction was overturned. Hope that makes sense!

    Hacking is illegal and if you don’t own the device then you need to keep your ass off said device. Stalking and cyberstalking is sin and doing so is obviously wrong. Anyone who accesses a computer without permission is committing a crime. Needless to say using someone else’s computer to commit a crime is even worse. Get ready to open your pocket book if you are dumb enough to engage in such activities.
