I'm probably an outlier, but Sonic Chronicles was my favorite of the DS Sonic games, the writing was so hilarious at times depending on what team combinations you had. Rouge: "Why would a space pirate from a different dimension talk like that? It's just dumb." Pirate: "Arr, 'tis a speech impediment." Pure gold.

If they do the Advance trilogy, they should as well do the same for Sonic Battle, since it takes place between Advance 2 and Advance 3. Battle could really benefit from being rereleased on modern hardware, be it a remaster, port, or remake, as there are some multiplayer only minigames in Sonic Battle, and since online gaming is very common nowadays, they could have those minigames be playable without relying on a link cable. I btw, really wish Gemerl would return in another Sonic game. Last we heard of Gemerl, he's currently living with Cream, Vanilla, and Cheese, all those characters, are characters SEGA isn't making much usage lately. I don't recall Vanilla being in any game but Advance 2, a very underused character. But I get that she's never been playable, she isn't really combat-suited. Even her daughter is slightly combat ready, through the power to fly, and making use of Chao abuse that is Cream's only means of attacking enemies

It was so funny, I remember having the classic collection on my DS as a kid, and loving it. Then I kept trying to find said collection for PC or my other consoles and being like "Why do I see sonic 1 and 2 everywhere but not 3?! 3 is my favorite!"

My headcanon is that the Sol Emeralds don't have special stages because those ancient aliens in Frontiers are the reason Chaos Emeralds have special stages. Like, it's caused by their subspace technology, and there's no reason for the Sol Emeralds to have that.

I just rewatched all these, it's so nice to have them all in one video! Any chance you're going to do like a "Sonic on Gamecube" video? I'd love to hear your thoughts on Heroes and Shadow

Grinding in a Sonic game aka frontiers

I wanna bring up how there was an improvement patch/mod for Sonic Advance 2 called Sonic Advance 2 SP which added more Special Rings to make getting to the special stages easier and expanded on some of the stages like Sky Canyon.

There's also something similar for sonic advance 1 and it's special stages requiring less rings to get the emerald as well, and it allows you to be able to exit to the main menu from the pause screen which wasn't in the base game for some reason, they are rom hacks/patches

I actually really liked Sonic Chronicles back in the day. I remember playing through it at least 10 times and getting all the chao. I played it so much I remembered the best accessories and chao to put on each character and where you find them.

Strangely, Sonic Rush actually gave me my interest in Sonic back. I had just got my DS and was looking for a new game for it, and since I used to be a huge fan of Sonic growing up but not getting into the newer games, I decided to just give it a go, and really loved it.

In sonic rush adventure the music on the main island evolves as u get further in the game. It's a simple melody at first then slowly the further u get in the story the more instrumentals are added. Very innovative and unnoticed

I would have prefered if Blaze was part of Sonic's group of friends in Sonic prime instead of Rouge, seeing how they adapt her rol as the princess and guardian of the Sol emeralds would hace been pretty cool.

For some reason, the drill wisp music reminds me of Cruelty Squad. That may be a good or bad thing depending on your view of that games music.

What if in an alternate timeline, there were only fewer 8-Bit Sonic games? Being: Sonic Chaos, Sonic Drift, Sonic Triple Trouble, Sonic Drift 2, Tails Skypatrol, and Tails Adventure. With Chaos and Triple Trouble having playable Amy and Knuckles along with boss Metal Sonic in every few Zones in both Chaos and TT. How'd that have been like?

I always was (and still am) impressed by java mobile games with how much they could handle for such a mindless game really..They will always have a special place in my heart. They certainly ain't great games, but they're certainly charming and gave us a look at early smartphone gaming (which I kinda hoped would stay like this, simple timewasters for if you had nothing to do). They sometimes can be really creative.

Might be worth noting that the blue spheres jittery floor issue in Sonic Classic Collection does not occur on an original DS or DS Lite. It appears to only affect DSi and later.

With the sonic rush DS games I think the idea is that the thinking was still in the 90's/early 2000s where people didn't have a huge backlog, so games sold themselves on total playtime. That's why Sonic Adventure 1/2 were so popular, people have fond memories of the Chao garden because it let them replay all the levels they liked and ignore the ones they didn't, I think the rush games are extrapolated out from that, but I don't know how well the implementation worked.

I would love to make my own version of this compilation, but almost all of the games are in order of release. With it being slightly edited to transition to the next game. While any unused content of the video could be put at the end as a bonus features.

Chronicles would have gotten a sequel if it had been for Krazy Ken Penders, who did the Archie comics but they had a conflict going to court over his created characters and storylines. Chronicles featured such a storyline and even selling Chronicles itself was stopped.

Never in my life did i know that Sonic Colors had a version on DS that resembles Rush. Wild.

@@CeHee123 nope. Winter has no screen rubbing. The ice rink has you mash the shoulder buttons instead. Likely cause a lot of ds' were ruined from all the scratching on the original

Great video! Sonic definitely has been all over the place in his history, but, then again, so was Sega. I'm curious just how many times Sonic 1 and 2 (Mega Drive/Genesis) have been ported? I'm pretty sure they are some of the most ported games in video game history! I've played a handful of these portable titles and they do range from good (or mediocre) to not-so-good. I did have a Game Gear growing up and my parents did buy me a copy of Sonic Blast when I was a kid...But I'm still wondering what I did wrong to deserve it. I was a good kid. 😔

For generations 3ds, the classic stages being copy-pasted isn’t as bad as it sounds since classic in gens 3ds controls more like the genesis games than the HD gens version does, you can actually roll through loops without losing all your speed and falling off halfway through

I honestly have a soft spot for Sonic chronicles, I’ll admit it’s not the greatest rpg ever. But I did enjoy that they made an rpg with Sonic and his friends and I still have the Nintendo power poster for this game

and you two can make road out of nowhere 3 for your crash bandicoot bridges sequel.

Sonic Battle's fights being inconsistently hard is supposed to push you to grind for more skills. Emeral doesn't just get copied skills from the friends, he also has legendary moves that make him completely over powered. Remember I got incredibly lucky with one of my first being Sonic's hold down spin attack mixed with Chaos's making an attack that's as fast as Sonic's but with the area of effect of Chaos. That was just broken and it seems all legendary moves are like that. You just get them by constantly re-challenging people.

Is it just me or are the portable Sonic boss fights very reminiscent of Kirby's?

I just had a dream where antdude made a video about every single game in the play store that was themed around catnap (from poppy playtime chapter 3) (i don't even like poppy playtime??), throughout the video, he got more and more addicted to the games, sounding less and less sane and spouting random gen Z bullshit, I think it sorta became a documentary about antdude's friends getting worried about his behavior with quick sections of him talking about a catnap themed game There was a game that was a GTA clone and was branded as being catnap themed when it had nothing of him, idk how the video ended cuz i woke up before it ended

SEGA had the master system still running in other markets and MS and GG are very similar so it was easy to convert them and the MS ones are better usually because your field of view is bigger.

I beat sonic colors on da as a kid who didn’t know how to play video games and I didn’t even know I beat it I just knew that when I finished some stages they would talk

I only knew about the sonic collection. I never got passes sonic 3 and knuckles’ knuckles part. I somehow beat sonic 1 in 2 tries, Sonic 2’s final boss was the only hard part.

I was always jealous of my cousin cuz he had Sonic Rivals and never let me play it. Glad to know Sonic Advance was better anyway
