Orlando is a breakthrough theatrical spectacular that showcases graceful dolphins and false killer whales, a rainbow of exotic birds and an entire cast of world-class divers and aerialists draped in elaborate costumes. The vivid imagination of a young girl sets the stage for an emotional adventure to experience the power of the sea and the elegance of flight.
I recorded this family video on November 4, 2010 at the Orlando, Florida SeaWorld with a Canon HV30. Tilikum is the subject of the documentary film Blackfish. SeaWorld in San Diego is fighting AB 2140, the "California Captive Orca Welfare and Safety Act," would end performance-based entertainment for all 10 orcas in the state.

    +Lola Amor Libertad I recommend you don't watch the "documentary" because it's been debunked multiple times and proven to have taken many of the interviewed people's statements out of context to make it seem like something entirely different was said. Educate yourself on your own and learn the truth instead of watching a biased and horribly made "documentary" like Blackfish.

    Wow, now that's ignorance. As far as I know Blackfish has been awarded. And it's mere logic to acknowledge the suffering of mammals thorn apart from their families, enslaved to perform unnatural tricks, in a limited space.

    Lola Amor Libertad You clearly think just because a movie has gotten an award that makes it legitimate. No. "Documentaries" like Blackfish make their living off people like you who will blindly take whatever they throw your way. Second, are you aware that most of the orcas/dolphins currently at Sea World (or most aquariums for that matter) are not taken from the wild, but rather born in captivity? They know nothing of the outside world.

  • @MrBetoup

    ***** They're still wild animals, they still have their instincts. Less than 1% of wild orcas have dorsal fin collapse (which indicates stress), but when it's about whales in captivity, 100% have it! 1.5 acres of water (or even much less) is nothing to creatures that swim 120 km a day in the wild. If you want to read more infos about it, you can start here: www.seaworldofhurt.com/features/ten-things-didnt-know-seaworld/ And of course check if the informations are real, if you want to. :)

    I personally am furious that these facilities exist... These animals are brutally taken from their natural habitat and traumatized, they're abused to learn tricks in captivity, there's no escape from the chlorinated water, that their sonar signals bounce endlessly back from the tank walls at them, causing 24/7 pain and disorientation, they cannot exhibit natural behaviors in a tank, they suffer greatly shortened life-spans, as well as grief from their pods and longing to be in the wild.

    I manage a project to monitor wild dolphins. I was curious to see the comments on this vid. If the dolphins were genuinely unhappy they would not participate, they have that level of intelligence and behaviour to make up their own minds what to do. The truth is they are incredibly social animals and recognise humans as one of their own, that's why they get along so well with their trainers. I suppose the issue here is one of captivity and welfare. These dolphins look healthy and happy to me, though in an ideal world the best entertainment is to see them in their natural habitat and environment. As for any animal suffering its more likely the human animal than the dolphin animal in that respect!....

  • @ivorclark2523

    ***** This is a very emotive subject and its not just about dolphins, there are other intelligent creatures used in a similar way in circuses for example. I agree dolphins should be in their natural habitat and viewed as such. I was only responding to the various comments other people had made. The question is whether these particular dolphins are suffering due to their captivity, it is not as thought they could be easily released back into the wild such would be their attachment to people. My project is ongoing NE Wild Dolphin Monitoring Project which you can Google.

    Evan Michael NE Wild Dolphin Monitoring Project. You can google that or find our group page on facebook. Of course wild dolphins behave differently because they have not been "domesticated", its like wolves vs dogs, but there are still common instincts. There are arguments for and against these kinds of shows. Personally I'd prefer people to see the animals in their natural habitat.

    Do you even KNOW how almost ALL of these dolphins are obtained by sea world?? Not breeding, but capture. They are herded by boats into a cove, which is then net off, and dolphins are then selected (separated from their pods), sold to marine attractions to live in concrete tubs, separated from their friends and social life a lot of times, and then live short of their life span by many, many years!! And if they are bred, most dolphins spend their entire lives with their mothers, but sea world separates them when they are usually two or three. This is NOT ok.

    Really??? You obviously haven't really taken the time to truly think about the animals and what type of life they are living!!! YOU can walk away after your "amusement and entertainment", live your life as you please and will. These animals are trapped and deprived of ALL their natural habitat and behaviors. They social structure is destroyed, they die prematurely and go insane and suffer from illnesses that they do NOT contract in the wild! Shameful you are SO blind by our selfishness! People have enough "stimulation" and "entertainment" than to dominate and force animals to do stupid, fake, tacky tricks! WAKE UP!!!! EVOLVE!!!! SeaWorld only cares about the money these animals make them, they are "expendable", only merchandise and "clowns". I'd rather go to a show to see humans perform amazing things and give them my money-NOT SeaWorld that exploits helpless, voiceless animals!!!

    No. This is not awesome. I'm not blaming you for not knowing: people need to be more educated on what really happens behind the scenes, but these are ABUSED animals. They live their whole lives in plain concrete tubs, with nothing to play with or stimulate themselves with. In the wild, dolphins can travel almost 100 miles in ONE day, but an orca would have to lap his pool about 2,000 times to get that same exercise. They are placed with unfamiliar dolphins (this has caused several dolphins to kill each other in the past), while in the wild, dolphins stay with their same pods for their whole lives. Please, this is not hate, this is educating the world on what really happens behind the scenes, and what these intelligent creatures deserve.

    Dolphins are such brilliant and beautiful animals. Though I must admit, these shows are rather entertaining, especially to see how smart a dolphin is in learning and remembering tricks, they don't belong here. I'm sure their trainers take great care of them, but they shouldn't be confided to such a small tank with human-controlled resources. It hurts my heart knowing they will most likely live their life in the same place they were placed in from day one. They belong in the ocean, to be free. We've had many shows, and plenty of experiments with them. We know these creatures a lot. Now it's time to release them where nature intended them on being.

  • @CielPhantomhivexSebastian

    DuckDude23 I should have used a different word, as that's not what I intended. I'm sure with long training, they could at some point be suitable for supervised life in the wild. Or, we could cease having a splash fest with dolphins of newer generations.

    People don't get that these animals cannot be released to the wild. They don't know how to hunt and would willingly go up to people, which could be dangerous to them if the people are hunters, etc. I'm not for exploiting animals for shows, but while in captivity they need something to keep their mind occupied, and doing tricks is just that. I don't want to compare them to dogs because they're totally different, but if a dog doesn't have anything to do, they will get bored and may turn destructive.

    On the one hand, this is a beautifully choreographed show with stunning visuals and the dolphins are worthy of any star. But on the other, these poor animals are being manipulated with food and used as actors in human skits, skits that are complicated, time consuming, and need to be practiced over and over and over and over and over and over (you get the point) again to get to this level. You can just see that the dolphins are really tired of it and want the food, their movements are rushed and not timed with the music...

    There is no explanation, it is wrong to keep these highly intelligent and family orientated animals in captivity. It's just wrong. Seaworld has finally accepted that fact and will no longer capture killer whales. After the current captives die off, it will finally end. Probably 20 yrs in the future but the promise has been made.

  • @TritonsGuard

    @TritonsGuard

    Not trying to be rude, but you haven't fact checked yet. SeaWorld hasn't captured orcas in the wild for decades. All the younger ones are born domestic. Secondly, SeaWorld accepted nothing, or they would not need the force of law to compel them to stop. Lastly, Dogs, horses, raccoons, chimps, and a lot of other animals approach or surpass orcas in intelligence. Do you believe they too should not be in captivity?

  • @lightheart5340

    @lightheart5340

    Just lemme say, dogs, horses are domesticated animals and have been domesticated through the centuries hello. Barnum and bailey are phasing out elephants in their circus, I say bravo The home and best envirnment for whales is the oceans. Even the whale watching boats are phasing out because to observe in a gas and oil polluting boat is to alter the environment. We must be content in just knowing they are there...I see it as an extension of anti-whaling.. Endangered species....rhino's, tigers in captivity to insure continued existence and genetic diversity ...not for profit or entertainment. You living under a rock? In saving them, in the process.. we save ourselves.
