For anyone wondering the same thing as Danny at 1:07:40 , while Danny didn't react to the explanation of this part, the sub explains it a bit better anyway. When Dazai is talking about the letter and saying 'I predict you won't kill me, you'll tell me where the info is, etc' he also says this: 'And when you leave this room, you'll walk and talk like a little rich girl. You know my predictions always come true, after all' So when Dazai says "you know you're forgetting something, Chuuya~" he's referring to the last part of his prediction that Chuuya didn't fulfill just yet. Dazai basically blackmailed Chuuya into it by promising to erase any indication that Chuuya helped him escape. ALSO Dazai DID laugh at Chuuya in the manga at that scene

Okay, I'm extremely late to the game for this to apply to me but I'm pretty sure that the experience of thinking "Who the hell is Chuuya" is an essential piece of the Bungou Stray Dogs experience, because at the end of the volumes of the manga, there are little profiles for each of the characters and Volume 2 has Dazai's which lists his dislikes as "Dogs and Chuuya Nakahara", even though Chuuya's first appearance isn't until Volume 3. Sidenote: Chuuya's own profile is at the end of Volume 6, and his only dislike is Osamu Dazai.

@@eldritchcupcakes3195 oh sort of! kishou taniyama is the vocalist of grandrodeo so if you think about it i guess chuuya does sing the openings for seasons 1, 3, 5 and dead apple. but i was thinking more along the lines of actual in character singing.

the perspective is still definitely off, but chuuya is a pretty short little guy at 5'3" while dazai is 5'11"

It's just one of those shows that doesn't really have a plot till chapter 537124642781684 but even then, the plot is just kinda being ignored and so it's just kinda there. AND IT'S INCREDIBLY GOOD AT JUST BEING THERE!!! Same thing wich Black Butler, it has no real plot (well, atleast a plot of wich we don't know of) till volume 13 (chapter 63 or smt idk) but even then, I don't really see the plot activly being a part of the whole story (like they don't activly look for the guys that killed Ciels parents) BUT IT'S STILL VERY GOOD AT EVERYTHING ELSE!!! Like ig you could kinda call it a... well fk up slice of life?

I think the reason that Dazai doesn’t have a gun is specifically for the reason that he would kill himself immediately if he had it aka it was confiscated from him 😂😂

39:06 It's because Dazai is a suicidal menace in society that both the ADA and PM (specifically Chuuya) need. Giving Dazai a gun isn't a good idea as he'll just kill himself with it.

"this show's gonna make me cry over this character at some point" bsd in a sentence frfr

a lot of small details about the characters quirks and stuff can be found looking into the authors and their works. heavy trigger warning for a few of the works though. fun facts i think are somewhat relevant: •dazai osamu in his book “no longer human” classified himself as a clown often making jokes and quips at his own expense. i think thats the main reason he is so ridiculous in the anime. •dazai constantly discussed the ideal kind of woman with other authors. if anyone is wondering, he liked glasses and brunettes preferably shorter than him. •chuuya nakahara was actually a lot shorter in reality. like 153 cm. the anime actually made him taller. •one of tanazaki most well-known works is about a man obsessed with a young schoolgirl named naomi that he grooms into being his ideal type of woman, western and confident, only to be overwhelmed by her later. •a lot of the characters are reversed idol wise. by that i mean, in reality dazai osamu was obsessed with akutagawa, edogawa ranpo with edgar allan poe (hence his pseudonym), and chuuya with arthur rimbaud. opposite of the anime.

@@yasminemaamoun8543 a lot of pseudonyms are used to reflect the author’s views or interests. notably in bungou stray dogs is the character q. • kyusaku yumeno roughly translates to “a person who dreams”, stressing the “person” aspect rather than man or woman because he liked the anonymity that could come with androgyny hence why q as a character has no clear gender/sex.

I know it doesn't excuse it but the reason Atsushi didn't do much during the Azure messenger arc is because it was actually a light novel he wasn't in. The novel actually takes place before Atsushi joins the agency and is about how Dazai joined the ADA (which also means that nobody knows how anime Dazai joined up with them either???)

On another note while the perspective is in play it is true that Dazai is a lot taller than Chuuya fhdjs Chuuya is like 5'2/5'3 and Dazai is 5'11.

I never cared for Itona in Assassination Classroom, but he seemed to be Danny's favorite. I love Ranpo and his sassy little know-it-all attitude, while Danny doesn't like him. I just find it really amusing.

I had always seen Dazai everywhere but never knew where he was from or even really his name until I watched bungo stray dogs. My immediate reaction was “this is where he’s from!?”
