@Alex-mv3ig

0 pCloud might be one solution as it is fully encrypted and works as a network drive (so it doesn't take space on your phone or pc). Only thing is that they require an email, and they don't seem to accept anonymous payments like cryptocurrencies (I might be wrong).
Hey Techlore, great video and content as always! I would love to see a video ranking the most popular smartphones brands on those Type 1, 2 and 3 you did, from most to less private and secure.

I sure learned a ton. Instant subscriber!
Love those guides! I really get frustrated because none of the phones supported by Graphene and CalyxOS are sold in my country.
Great comprehensive Video, thanks!
Eye opening, thank you!
THIS IS... 1 of the best videos ON KZread. EVERYONE SHOULD WATCH THIS. Quick ?... who's this guy in the beginning of the video you said did a Ted's Talk!?

Great video, thank you!
Mate, you've really just enlightened me.
Superb Analysis and guidance.
When i went from ios to android the first week after tinkering i had most of the 3rd base stuff covered. Android is good as there are just swathes of settings to play with
Man I've gone far down this rabbit hole, but I think it's good. I'm realizing how insecure all my data is and it's gonna be quite the challenge to get it back under control 😂

Some other things not mentioned -sensors off-in developer options if turned on it disables camera and microphone sensors so they won't work.. -work profile-apps like shelter can be used to create a work profile in which apps can be installed and they can't access personal apps and can have separate password/pin with separate accounts and contacts
@DiscipleofChrist101

Please elaborate on the latter
Another well produced and comprehensive video. I would be interested to know where you think methods that create false tracking data fit into privacy protection. Examples are the FakeGPS android app, the makesomenoise website, or just entering a fake name/DOB and disposable email for none financial sites & services. If we can corrupt the data that companies hold about us then does that improve privacy and security?

@clocked0

It was critical ages ago, at this point it's almost (if not already surpassed) the point of no return. Facebook has your profile even if you have never made a Facebook account, shit is that fucked up ATM. Not to mention NSA mass surveillance programs as leaked by Snowden..
You can also customize tracking your device sending by installing XPosed framework. It lets you tweak information that applications collect and sending.
Good tips! I Used to have instagram but then I got an ad that said: "Do you have tape over your camera? Try these lens stickers instead.." How did they know I have tape over my camera lenses? :O Also: What are some more options for "zone 2" phones?
It was wonderful thank you very much
This is an amazing channel.
could not live happily without you!
Wow..so much information.
This was great thanks
wow, this is amazing
I don't suppose you'll be doing a Mac OS privacy guide will ya? :) With you and The Hated One's guide's btw, I just bought a Pixel 3a and am going to switch over to Graphene! Cheers!

I think it would be a better idea to have different videos on security and privacy and talk about them in separate videos.
If an you took an IPhone and an Android and put them both all the way into Zone 3 which would be more secure out of the two....Or would they be about the same. It seems like Android could possibly be more secure considering the ROM options such as Graphene or CalyxOs with their customization options. I already have a Pixel so I'm deciding if I want to ditch it for the Apple ecosystem or not.
Hey Techlore could you check out surfeasy Lenovo is want a VPN and I tried to find couldn't find and it's a paid version
I use via browser for some searches, it's less than 1mb and doesn't keep any records. Can you review it?
I wanted to ask:Does Tor browser Alpha give the same security and trust as Tor
Thanks Henry sir your work is appreciated on this channel.
15:00 i just use the stickers on bananas and apples, good for environment and has a tropical vibe
Anyone have anything to say about all these forms of privacy and security for mobile devices with the advent of imsi catchers (a.k.a. stingrays)?
Hey techlore what's your opinion about the vivaldi browser?
My phone says (Terms of Use) govern your use of Lg electronics. Govern my use. What's going on there?
I have an android phone but I am very worried abut data harvesting without my consent. I know that I can't turn it off completely but I made firefox as my standardbrowser (don't use google anymore) and disabled all biometrics. It isn't to much of a hassle for me and lets me feel a lot saver
6:25 another thing about firewalls on android. I know atleast for me on lineageOS I can just deny 4G, Wi-Fi, and VPN usage for any app within settings. So yeah netguard might be useful if you're on cellular data a lot and want to make sure as much as possible isn't phoning home in the background, but also a vpn or tor may be preferred.
@techlore
4 жыл бұрын
Yep! GrapheneOS specifically has network perms which really removes the need for Netguard unless you want something with more features
Waiting for thiss....
hi there, how do you stop google piggy banking your vpn , please reply.
Is there a good order to do these things in? Like can app A see that youre taking step 1 2 and 3 and then use that info to keep a more watchful eye on you or "flag" you
Can i get graphene on Samsung a70 please help me as i am thinking to get a custom rom
If I download Tor from the play store, or a foss app from Fdroid, won't I still be spied on from the phone's software? Using a non de googled Android
How can we know if some government people are spying my phone illegal because I have a doubt my ex is still tracking my phone can you please tell how to know that???

Finding a mail drop is tough. Any suggestions other than PO and UPS Boxes?
I like how just the colors how he chose for the types and how they look like the Bi sexual flag lol
I don't have a cell phone, no joke. My cell phone came out of my motorcycle holder and was lost while riding. I couldn't even find it after a Google Map Device locate told me where it was. I went round and round with the major carrier I was using and they were useless. So I ported my cell number to a VOIP service that is text capable that I use, cancelled the cell service, then I added a 4G Netgear hot spot to Mint Mobile and am getting 10gigs/month for $20. Now, I only use one of two 8" tablets that connect to my hot spot via WiFi. The tablet runs the VOIP service mentioned and I get calls and texts from my former cell phone number as well as the VOIP service original number. It's a much larger screen so it's perfect for mapping, WAZE and everything the cell phone could do but bigger and better while riding. I have it paired with the Blue Tooth 4.2 intercom in my helmet as well. I'm saving $60/month with this configuration and I'm thinking it's much more secure than having a smartphone directly connected to the cellular network as the hot spot provides some fire-walling between cellular and the WiFi side. When I hit my favorite watering hole, I take the tablet off the Ram Mount just like I used to, but now it switches to the bar's Wifi (the hot spot is on low power) and the IP address switches seamlessly and everything still works. When I go home, I turn the hot spot off as well as the tablet as the above calls from both numbers ring on my computer, desk phone and other tablet. I couldn't be happier.
Loved your video, any tips for those who use smartphones on wifi only? I have a regular flip phone which costs $30 a month and a cheap galaxy s8 i bought used. But it's hard to find phones cheap that I can use for wifi only.

What do you need a vpn? A anti virus?
What do you guys do think of ctemplar email?
I doubt about android private security ensure the system are in place
Please make a video about a good secure app that has satellite imagery I don’t want to use google earth anymore since it tracks and uses your data for malicious intent
If i can't buy a new phone, do i just suck it up and use Lineage OS?
Yes, I'm currently running GrapheneOS on this phone, but it's...too painful. More than half of my apps relied on some depth of Google Play Services and none of my home automation works well anymore. I look forward to your CalyxOS video coverage as nobody else seems to be touching that subject.
@techlore

Hope you enjoy Calyx! If you have a few extra minutes, would you mind reporting what apps did/didn’t work with GrapheneOS? We have a project covering this: github.com/techlore-official/plexus Instructions are there on how to contribute (no github account required)

How about lineage os for micro g? Then you can have "aurora store" that let's you spoof your ID for google based apps. So they collect some data but can't connect it to the user
Plzz suggest some privacy focused keyboard for android
You mentioned pixels being essentially the best phone for degoogling. That's the reason I buy pixel phones right now. I'm currently slowly removing all big data and anti privacy software from my life, then I'm going to divorce Google as the last entity who has my data.

Awesome information, but you talk and move so fast through them, I can't absorb or write them down. Why don't you write a "how to" booklet of something we could save and get back to. Just a suggestion. Thank you for the info I was able to absorb.
I feel it's a trade! You get security or privacy! Can't have both! I respect and admire all the hard work of all communities and developers, but security is definitely a problem online! On the other hand, privacy is not easy to achieve without compromising security. Open Source is cool and all but it's not magic!
