Just got a Volus Engineer last night and was looking for tips how to run him efficiently, great video, thanks.

A Volus Engineer gets rushed down very easily. You're most vulnerable right after you plant a Recon Mine because the recharge time is so long you can't heal. I use a Falcon to help stagger rushing enemies like Dragoons, who can demolish you in a blitz unless you can stun them quickly enough. Funny true story: During the two times I've clutched games alone against Collectors where the rest of the team is dead, I was using a Volus on both games. The last character you'd think to survive... Oh yeah, and it takes about 100 Biotic Spheres (added on top of Talon gunshots) to take down a Praetorian... "Run beachball" (Message received from teammate after everybody else was dead)

Recharge (5a) on Shield Boost plus Power Efficiency Module IV means that if you use of Shield Boost immediately upon it being available 3 times, you will continuously take 90% less damage from all sources as long as you keep activating Shield Boost as soon as it becomes available. This is HUGE!!! If you don't choose Recharge, you get about 50/50 of 75% and 90% damage reduction.

Well great, now you've gone and gotten me hooked on the Acolyte. Now every time I make a build that needs as much low-weight bonus as possible, I've always got that Acolyte. I hope you're proud of yourself.

And that recon mine can prime Fire Explosion! Also IMO I think beside the harrier, the Indra with the new High-Velocity Barrel and the Mag Upgrade. The harrier is good but this guy doesn't need grenade, and the Indra can make it stay out of supply line for a long time. Collector AR also could be good but it really need a buff.

I'm trying to make this Volus work. My main gripe is that he can't hide behind anything. I get that he can't see over high enough to shoot, but at least be able to duck behind them for cover. I get killed so often because of that. Mass Effect deserving game of the year? I agree, I didn't expect much for the multiplayer but here I am six months later still playing it and shelving other games. And yes, it was the 'O' [circle] button for PS3, you do have PS3 viewers you know.

One more thing that I realized recently is that, the Vorcha could be good against Collectors. The reason is simple: Collectors don't flank you with Grenades, they don't have grenade. Scion and Processed may have, but they don't flank you. They fight you face to face, and that means you can dodge with the low profile side jump. Looking forward to seeing you commenting on the Vorcha engineer when it comes out.

The recon mine is affected by weight but its like the biotic orbs where it will not have a recharge speed for its self unless you detonate it before the recharge speed ends but its own (say 10 sec) recharge speed will mean you can't use other abilities for 10 sec even if their cool down is 5sec Also the acolyte is really good if playing on gold with this character, acolyte, pm, acolyte= enemy dead

I love seeing Volus fight on the battlefield. Little guys trying so hard to do their part for the cause. God Save the Queen!

It would be freakin hilarious, if you give any of the two volus a claymore, because it's freakin as it is. (the midget with the blunderbuss [aka old shotgun] from Pirates of the Caribbean reference)

I did a no fitness build on this character and use it on gold and it works quite awesome, I usually put on gear that boosts shields and shield regeneration for more survivability without spamming shield boost.

I have two Volus Adept builds. One is the Biotic God and one is the Sniper. With the Sniper build, I use the Javelin. It's so fun and awesome. And yes, it is very effective.

Played a Rio Platinum today Justicar, Valkeryie, Destroyer, Volus Eng(me) and we did the thing in the crate in the back. I'd pop my Recon Mine in front of thee crate and run to the stairs and proxy, shoot(Collector SMG 1) and would do what I could while they just stayed in the crate and yelled at me. When I got overrun I would slowly retreat but would only enter the crate with them if I absolutely had to. They would yell at me because I wasn't doing my "job" as a Volus(sit in corner hit LB ever

What weapon would you recommend as a replacement for the Harrier? Haven't had any luck with the ultra-rares :(

I don't know if this was a glitch but I was playing gold geth and the rocket troopers can now cloak, they might have done that before the update but I never noticed it

On platinum they throw an additional enemy faction in every other round or so to make it tougher. So there isn't any geth farmers without some insta killer bosses attacking them

Hi there, im just commenting The way i use him, is with any good automaic gun, and the recon mine and proxy mine are key. As soonas the enemies sheilds are gone pop the mine and they al drop, couple this with proxy and you get a massive damage output, that helps the entire team out. Also you may wish to use sheild boost more effectively, the 50% DR is there for a reason. USE it, Im soory i got frustrated its just that i couldnt stand you using the volus to a poor level. ;)

I use the PS3 version if anyone is interested; VoteKratos is the name, don't gets your hopes up though because I only play about 6 matches a week. I might amp my game up during December but at the moment I haven't even touched infiltrator or engineer yet, I don't even have any worth while guns past IV :C

the only downside i can see to the voluses (or voli, i dont know) is that they cant go behind cover.

If you want a challenge try doing a whole squad melee only platinum :)

I use this with the Indra with piercing and damage an it's very effective, I play on lower difficulties so it's easy getting those kill streaks with the mine especially against geth and reapers since they're stupid and rush you so it's easy to trap them

i wouldn't recommend a level 10 melee character on platinum, kroguard or not

I be live the next character they are releasing is the geth soldier.
