Honestly with as much drama as Dallas has had this offseason regarding contracts and their star players combined with their roster not being as good it’s not that outside the realm of possibility they could be significantly worse. Idk about worst in the division that’s pushing it but they certainly could miss playoffs have a down season

I'm hoping we're out of the tunnel. I actually had to stop following them those last 3-4 years of the Snyder era. Because of the disgusting things that happened under his watch. Probably would've kept following if it was just the play but both was awful time and was just thinking why am i still watching them. Happy to wear my Washington gear without feeling gross.

The latest episode of Commanders Log, the team's own documentary series in the same vein as Hard Knocks, showed Josh Harris, Adam Peters and Dan Quinn working very closely in the draft process, and it gave me a lot of hope to see the guys at the top being actually in lockstep after years of just... absolute horror under Voldemort. Jayden Daniels was the obvious choice at No. 2 overall, but the question was how they would maximize their Day 2 capital, and boy did they nail the process. AP was steadfast against Howie Roseman's attempts to fleece him in their trade, and the additional picks netted them a top-notch nickel in Sainristil (AP had a funny moment where he pranked DQ into thinking that he was taken by the Bengals, which aggravated him to the point where you could tell he really wanted the kid) as well as a TE whom the Chiefs were really interested in... oh, and all AFTER they got Johnny Newton! I couldn't bring myself to follow the team anymore because of Voldemort, but after he sold the team, I have real excitement for their future. I don't think they'll get a winning record next year, let alone make the playoffs, because the O-line is going to suck against formidable pass rushes in the division and Jayden will have growing pains similar to Joe Burrow, hopefully without the injuries. But this rebuild will take time and I have faith that it will pay off. HTTC

Missed Jordan Magee and JJB on the draft section. Magee is one of my favorite picks, with Jamin and Luvu running around I have high hopes for Jordan being able to sit behind Wagner and really get a hold on fixing his tackling problems. As a Commanders fan some thoughts: 1. I think Brett is right that Quan Martin might get first shot at Free Safety. 2. If Brandon Coleman cannot cut it at Tackle, he should be able to move in to Guard. 3. Don't know if it was intentional but the rookie graphic skipped over Jordan Magee. Key OTA's and Minicamp takeaways: 1. Jayden impressed coaches with how he prepares for practice. 2. Bobby Wagner and Zach Ertz have leadership roles. 3. The rookies looked decent for the most part 4. Quan Martin got the most love from the coaches of the secondary players 5. The Commanders cut their kicker due to sexual assault allegations and that position remains in flux.

BTW, most of the new is because the previous regime couldn't really do new deals with the current players, mainly because of the sale, so there were a lot of guys who ended up being FAs. When you are as bad as they were last year, you don't expect to resign very many of those players. There weren't too many players who were outright released, and generally the ones that were were pretty obvious.

To me, I think this season we will probably be a 6-8 win team. We will be a team to beat teams we shouldn’t and lose to teams we shouldn’t. I think next offseason is where we are really looking for bigger names kinda like what the Texans did they went from just filling the roster with solid to good players to going for superstars and I think AP will take a similar approach.

We will see if DQ has the ability to also develop around the margins to help shore up the Commies weaknesses around the roster. At the very least that is what the new owner in Josh Harris should expect.

Chase young really wasn’t that great for us after the injury and Montez sweat ended up netting a 40th overall after 4.5 years on the team and never cracking a 10 sack plus year. Not worth paying him that when we are still rebuilding and need the flexibility of cap room. We also need to revamp, CB, OL, and QB. You can’t plug every hole in one draft unless you have an insanely talented player who you can trade or a high draft pick with no need for a QB. Unfortunately we didn’t have either so we went QB, BPA, slot CB (a need), TE (a need), and a tackle (a need)

I like their D-line for pressure though its built from the interior. Fowler, Armstrong have worked with Quinn's defense in the past. Vets along with some new faces can make for a solid rotational pass rush for this season while trying to luck on a potential starter. What I'm more concerned with defense wise is when Quinn meets McVay/Shanny type offenses who have historically lit up his defenses in the past. Hopefully DC Joe Whitt provides better answers. Talent wise I think they can play their division rivals well.

There were holes everywhere and they didn't have the draft capital to address them all. Who were they going to get at edge after Darius Robinson was off the board? This rebuild will take time, and I think they got some crucial pieces to lay a foundation. Also slot corner can be a crucial piece when there are still some questions in linebacker, even though that group has been improved quite a bit, and especially in secondary.

The new owner is obviously better than Snyder but I don't think that things are going to get that much better. There was a reason that the better coaching candidates didnt want to go there. Peters may be a good GM but I thought that they wud be better off keeping Howell and trading back to get more picks. I thought Howell had a descent year considering what was around him and it was pretty much his "rookie" year with a new OC and the one of the worst o lines in the league. I think Howell will become the starter in Seattle if Geno gets hurt or they wont have a top pick when Geno leaves. The picks wernt horrible but when a team has this many holes i thought they should have taken more risk in the later rounds cuz its cool if u miss with later picks cuz u can sign a guy with 6th round talent for cheap. Also they signed Brandon McManus and im really surprised they didnt find out about the allegations before they signed him cuz teams should have someone who is plugged into what is happening with players or at least called the Jags. I do like Jayden Daniels but him being able to throw slot fades duznt mean much to me cuz the slot fade is Gardner Minshews best weapon also. I think Jayden is going to make plays but I just dont see Quinn leading this team anywhere cuz he duznt have Kyle Shannahan calling the offense

A lot of deja vu. The Commanders coaching staff feels a lot like the Panthers last year. Jayden Daniels feels a lot like Justin Fields. Bad omens.

kliff sets the ceiling super low for the commanders, kliff has to be the worst leader of men and he cant adjust good at all. if the defence figures kliff out, jaden better be able to play "hero ball". commanders will be picking in the top 8 next year, not a doubt in my mind

@@JJ-zr6fu kliffs offense is so predictable, I've watched every snap of kliffs stint in Arizona. Even as a fan, I was able to predict kliffs plays, just based on the formation. Washington fans have to suffering massive delusion if they think kliff is the solution. Kliff already was basically the offensive coordinator in Arizona, just with head coach responsibilities. There's no way kliff learned anything to be a better playcaller as a "senior offensive analyst" at usc in 2023.

Is it just me or does anyone else’s head hurt with all the stats the guys talk about? I know analytics and numbers are part of the game and discussing them matters but it just gets to be like a avalanche of data points: QBS, Bootleg Power Score, EPA, DVOA its a lot to digest. I consider myself a pretty avid football fan and I get whiplash trying to follow it all. Sometimes I wish they’d just talk ball in normal terms instead of always using the complex formulas.

Basic surface level stats don't paint the full picture. It's easy to look at basic things like completion%, but that won't give you context like adot will

Not trying to be mean, but there are tons of other pods or channels that talk basic ball, these guys love advance stats, and most of their following loves advanced stats.

I can understand where you are coming from. I personally like the advanced stats because it paints a more full picture of what’s really going on. You get to see the world of football through the eyes of coaches and GMs. Yeah its alot, but thats what makes it exciting for me. They take the incredibly mind numbing complexity of modern football and break it down into palatable stats. The stats are like vegetables, as a kid you hated them , but as you got older you started to appreciate them and even enjoy them. That said I can appreciate where you are coming from, it can be daunting at times.

I know the point of this channel is to go into the fine details. Brett spent over 5 minutes explaining EPA per play to explain why the Bills were a statistical anomaly in a video on his channel. I think this series would benefit from a stand alone video explaining the advanced metrics so casual/new fans can understand. This channel is for die hard fans, but gate keeping won't grow the channel.

This is why I don’t like fantasy. Daniels and fields are bottom tier qbs but people thing they’re better because their rushing yards count more than their passing yards in fantasy.
