Zatanna also appeared in Season 8, episode 17 of Smallville, played by Serinda Swan.

I have always seen her in media like the animated films but knew nothing about her and wanted to know more. She definitely sounds like a character I want to pick up and read

You literally said she doesn't say spells,only to reiterate and say she speaks them,just in reverse. How embarrassing I'll correct you real quick. She doesn't have to say them out loud,nor in reverse,she only does so to help her concentrate,because her spells are powered by both her concentration and her own belief in what she can do. Basically,it's a flex and a way for her to kick your ass even harder lmao

@@21Handguns what are you getting at? Dude, I understand how zatanna power works, but her's is more of manifestation than "azarath metrion zinthos"(an actual spell). She literally just speaks things into existence(that's how powerful she)and needs a way to control herself,else the scope of her power would be more than she intended to use, hence the limitation of speak it into existence, and doing so by saying the sentence backwards(an emphasis to the concentration aspect of her powers), else she loses focus and uses more that she Intends to use. Do you think an ordinary magician would be able to absorb the upside down man and impose consequences on him? There's a reason people keep comparing her to Wanda. It's because they both do the same thing. They don't do spells, they speak into existence. And I know zee doesn't have to actually speak them, but she does do it for a reason.

@@21Handguns are you dumb?😂 I'm really perplexed and fascinated by you. We are literally saying the same thing ffs. Zatanna is a daddy's girl and a legacy character, hence her story had been largely revolved around her father. Zatanna can will anything she wants to, if she believes in herself. Hence, the all powerful mistress of magic. With this kinda power, she need limitations and focus. Limitations by saying what she wants to do, holding back the larger scope of her power, and in a way for her to believe in herself by hearing herself will her magic. Else, no belief and she can easily be defeated. That's the fun of her character. It leaves for her to be interpreted in your own way. You can either see it as her being weak, like a lot of people who make the claim that Wanda could easily defeat Z Her character had largely revolved around being a daddy's girl and wanting to do him proud, hence this internal struggle of being her dilemma in her self belief system. Backwards talking system was taught to her by her father to help her increase focus, as it was a method used by Leonardo da Vinci, great grand father or something (I think). Dude, I understand how zatanna's power works. I am a fan of her. Don't understand what you're trying to get at.

Her dad was on Stargirl, but I never finished to see if she was hinted at.
