The whole jazz band killed it; sounded stanky and looked gritty in all the right places; the passion showed through in every one of the musicians movements, facial expressions; you all ere the epitome of the way it ~feels~ to play a gritty blues/jazz chart; us midwest classical kids with no swagger are taking notes of THIS video of how it feels to be in the pocket but ALSO to LOOK like the coolest jazz musicians ever ~bravo to you all in the back! We band nerds see you all lookin fine and cool and perfectly jazz I’ll sexy~ Thank you to all artists involved!! Super inspiring to see artists of different specialities work so damn well together.

I remember watching the 1985 Shug Avery and being taken in by her beauty and attitude. Then I saw this, and I swear I was speechless. She brought a whole new light on Shug Avery, and OMG that entrance is the best!!! They stuck pretty close to Shugs original dress, but this took it a step further and... wow. I caught myself singing this all day today. Red is a color that commands respect and attention here. OH and to see her walk right past Mister and go right up to Celie was the best end to this scene!!!

I had never heard her sing and she blows the roof off with this song!!!

One of those rare instances where a story is consistently done justice. The Color Purple is an amazing book, an amazing film, and an amazing musical both on-stage and on-screen. Now all they need to do is make it a tv show 😜.

Just saw the movie...this was excellent! Yes, Taraji gave a great performance and her singing was on point on “Push Da Button”🎶🎤🎵💃🏼. I can’t wait to purchase the soundtrack and DVD. Shug Avery showed out in this wonderful reimagined Color Purple Musical!!!! Thank you to the entire cast👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽Fantasia par excellence made me cry a few times during her performances, Danielle, such a beautiful voice...ladies and gentlemen hats 🎩 off and a standing ovation!

@@ColoringKaria Their marketing strategy may not have been top tier but WB tried to push it as part of the Wonka, Aquaman big 3 holiday releases. I saw it twice and it's just crazy that it's already available for streaming. People have got to stop pigeon-holing movies as "Black movies" just because it has a leading Black cast. That definitely played a part in its underperformance as well.
