I’m here of course because I’m hyped for the new musical film version coming out this Christmas! Oprah’s involvement and the cast are two things in its favor. Especially Fantasia as Celie and Danielle Brooks as Sophia! I’ve never seen this musical before. But I watched the 80’s movie in Quarantine! So to me, seeing the movie and the beautiful story of sisterhood reborn will be redemption for me as a 30 year old musical theatre geek who’s made the magic of the theatre part of my life since the mid 2000’s! And boy does Oprah continue to look beautiful?

We spend so much time on Oprah in this segment. This is about The Color Purple Musical. She only put her name on it. Give more props to the cast and creators. Oprah has done her work in the movie. That’s it.

Yea, but she’s not the one who made it about her. Oprah clearly gave the props and accolades to the cast.

It’s her love for Celie’s story that should always matter!

I love how Oprah allows her platform to push other people on the front line. This is what success is about… reaching back and helping someone else have the same success. ❤

    How come Whoopi wasn't involved?

Good question. She wasn't anywhere close to the show. I don't even know if she saw it. She and Oprah were estranged at the time, so that could have been an issue.

Happy GoLucky And the "estrangement" was a big old nothing. Oprah thought that Whoopi was mad at her for some reason, while Whoopi thought that Oprah was upset with her. Both of them were going on what other people had told them, and both of them were wrong. All that time they spent disconnected could've been prevented with a conversation.

But oprah had her 25th anniversary with the cast of the color purple movie back in 2010. The broadway play that orginaly stared Fantasia Berrino as Celie didnt start til 2006. So from 2006 until 2010 i can see where Whoopi and Oprah were not in contact but afte oprah had the movie reunion they squashed there roomers then and there. Then earlier last year Oprah had Whoopi on her Life Class episode about Whoopis life amd career. So i would love to know why Whoopi wasnt involved in the color purple as much as Oprah. At the end of the day they are the orginal actors that gave that Movie life. I love that movie, Book and Broadway play. Ive seen thw play twice so far once with Fantasia Berrino and Recently with Jennifer Holiday as Sofia.

That entire issue between them really was an eye-opener. It showed me that Oprah isn't as evolved as she acts.
