So Bandai "kept" their promise to reprint old sets. The first wave hits the markets, chops prices in half. It all comes down to quantities, can the market absorb all the additional supply or will it take years to recover? Likely the 50% crash was more a shock reaction than actual repricing. All most suits care about is making the immediate numbers so they can negotiate more compensation there or at any board of directors that’ll pay more than what they’re making now. They do not care about the people making their products much less the people buying it. “Investors” are just a bunch of whales for them to exploit until everyone moves on to the next big thing.

​@festeezy I was with you till you said it was a kids' show. First episode was released in 1999. That would put most of the fans in their late 20s to 30s. Not many people are going to watch a back log of a 1000 shows to get into something. Their might be some kids that like the show but I wouldn't say they are in the main demographic especially in the US where it is harder to watch it. I went to a prerelease with a friend just to check it out and there wasn't anyone under the age of 20 there for One Piece and they had a 64 person group. I can't say the same for MtG and I prefer MtG.

Also…. Bandai cross stores are only selling unwrapped boxes.

OPTCG investing definitely does seem like risky business for now. Super bullish on the IP for the next 5ish years until the series finishes at least though, its popularity has grown a lot recently and Netflix seems to be investing in more One Piece media as well. Unfortunately Bandai could still tank the TCG value with reprints 🤷‍♂️

Not sure if you are aware but Bandai UK got more stock for their 3 stores including OP01. It has been over a month now and they still have stock. This concerns me!

Word is a distro had an order that wasnt paid for so they sold it off on top of the 1 case per store reprint there were no blue bottoms but this was hear say at my lgs but it doesnt help. players cant get enough product to even play. The reprint of op01 has been interesting since it's all white bottom boxes with post errata cards. While it hurts the stock of op01 as a whole I think it's a good move since it's keeping the early stuff rarer

Bandai Hobby for there other lines don't discontinue anything there are lines that are 40 years old still being reprinted today

Depending on what area you in Houston there been a nice restock on most stores on set 1 seen set 2 this week for some also set 7 been out for a week depending on the locals we area big city thou so I know its different for other cities side not there a lot of pokemon collections hitting the market there a lot of sealed booster box and etb collections in Houston and most stores ain't buying it lots of vendors have loads of singles also and no longer paying the 75 to 85% they were paying at shows

Only LGSs who are contributing with tournaments are going to get boxes. No one else will get boxes and these boxes will almost always be sold without shrink, so that they can't be resold.

GTS got product out of nowhere... just got a call with no warning, "these are ready to ship" - got a couple cases of OP01 and OP02 ... price drop will be very temporary

Tbh, the movement, at the very least, a response to the shift in meta in the east and Asian countries. The most recent sets, 06-07, didn't have any major tournaments going into set 08. Some say it's due to a collector whale, simpley buying out a product and we get priced out. Reprints of staples help. Shiny cardboard is honestly out of control. If you can't hold on to something for 10 minutes, you'll never hold on to it for ten years.

Dont always rely on tcgplayer website for the price due to supply and demand. They have lots of cards inventory so therefore the value falls, the lesser the higher or speculation pricing

you should be cautious with some of the japanese booster boxes. Many said they were repacked including some youtubers and twitch streamers where they had prove of it on video. especially on op-05.

Why don’t these new TCG’s like Sorcery and One Piece wiki articles by now? Hate to be that guy but it does help add legitimacy IMO..

I'm sick of these investor bros hording boxes then crying when the price goes down. I want to play the game and can't find a box at even close to msrp. The newest set is listed everywhere at $200 instead of the $120 msrp on the day of the release and these guys cry cause they can't over charge more.

Both Alliance and GTS received reprints, GTS received a majority of the reprints. Alliance likes to use reprints like this to reward accounts that order a lot of product from them, because Alliance has the worst wholesale pricing on products out of all legitimate distributors and this is how they try and make up for it.

Ironically, I think Bandai could print to oblivion, and it still won't be enough supply. I thought when OP04 hit close to 100 a box, we were in for an easier time to get product and at more affordable prices. However, after OP05 and everyone paid off their Christmas bills prices skyrocketed again and have continued to be high ever since going into OP07.

We see the same thing with Magic, but with the singles. For cards that are really expensive due to very low supply, any kind of reprint will crash the price.

Welcome to digimon 2.0 lol this is happening and the boxes won’t be high because cards are been reprinted. Most of people won’t open older boxes because many will chase for newer cards. Many are players and many Yugioh or other tcg moving over to one piece because of prices and tournaments available.

I've said this before, and I'll say it again: One Piece investors are going to get crushed. There's insane risk in trying to horde a brand new TCG. Bandai shouldn't be shy in printing this as much as they need to. There seems to be a lot of new players that are interested in playing and can't get their hands on product at a reasonable price. That's a problem for Bandai too if they can't get more participation from people outside of investors.

You don't need max rarity your deck to play. They'll reprint most broken cards in new set coming in few months. Rreprinting older sets will do nothing for new players outside of killing any collectors value for those cards. It'll also hit players since many people heavily invested in their decks. Welp guess what, your 100$ deck is now worth 50$. Bandai: "don't worry bro, it's ok because new people will come in and we care about them more then you".

I'll add my 5 cents here. In reality most of current meta decks are based around OP03, OP05 and OP06. These cards are still relatively cheap and boxes are available. Bandai history was always around their focus on current sets - print, release and move. Now they started reprinting older sets due to community demand that is something new. They tried something like this with Dragon Ball Masters BT10 and BT11, and I remember how many players and investors complained that they are ruining the game, and nearly 2 years later game is actually dead and they are trying to bring it on with new Fusion World. In truth reprinting old stuff is bad, and Bandai is known for reprinting all good cards in their anniversary products already, then why should they still reprint old sets? I don't get it.

The player community is growing exponentially and the lack of early set staples due to low print runs of the early sets have been crippling. You need many of those early set staples for decks and these reprints have been a godsend for players
