The Code of Silence Gang

Mistrust of outsiders and authority came natural to the ethnic neighborhoods of Boston, but one in particular stood out for their strict code of silence. During the 1980's a group of criminals took advantage of the community's code. #boston #gangsters #mafia #organizedcrime #bankrobbery #thetown #benaffleck #irish #charlestown #massachusetts #ireland

Where are you from? I’m from Lynn. A lot of your things are really accurate. I did almost 15 years in state prison, probably another 10-15 in the counties, mostly Essex, but I’ve been to Suffolk, done a few years in Billerica, started my stint in Roslindale at 13. With that said I have been drug and crime free since 1/13/17. Completely turned my life around. So, I know many of those guys. I’ve been with Raymond JR. in Middleton in 1992. Jack Salemme in 1999 in Middleton on 240D. And Frank Salemme in Walpole in 2018. Stevie Flemmi in 2003 in 10 Block Walpole. To name some. Been with the Hudson guys, I was close with Shawn Fritz from Charlestown up Norfolk. So I’ve heard true versions (at least the way THEY tell them) off some big stories. Not name dropping, just telling you where I’m coming from. Love your content. Btw, Gloucester. Huh? Okay, I heard that slightly into this video as I write this. New sub, so I’ll be watching!

At 2:10. The "Stop Snitchin" t shirts actually started in boston... This page is so great, man. Im on a binge. You, and others doing this has opened the door to document so many word of mouth stories that can be found on the internet, but are buried so deep. Its great that youre putting them on youtube, before theyre gone forever. Every story could be a movie. And even tho crime is nothing to be proud of, its disrespectful how people laugh when these stories of boston and the surrounding area are mentioned. They think theyre made up, because they werent brought up in pop culture as often as other american cities.

Literally we used to fight and most of the time shake hands after not get carried away in a box.

Charlestown didn’t hold the patent on the code of silence. I grew up in Worcester Ma in a tough Irish Catholic neighborhood in the 60’s. We NEVER called the cops! The first reason is because they were useless, and there was a better chance of the caller ending up in jail than the perp. And nobody trusted them to do the right thing anyway. Our credo was keep your head down, mind your own damn business, stay out of BS that don’t concern you, and take care of you and your own. Snitches got stitches, and ended up outcasts in the community. And as a community, we were better for it. Malevolent behavior didn’t go unpunished. Things always had a way of playing themselves out. One way, or another.

Nothing but facts here! I went to middle school and high school in Charlestown. In the schools, whites were the minority. Most of the whites guys who were my classmates ended up either transferring to a private school or dropped out to sell drugs. No in-between lol. Only 1 graduated with us.
