God, we need a sequel to this game. It is the first, only, and best tank sim set in the Star Wars universe. Piloting the TX-130, AT-XT, and LAAT was an absolute joy. The unique missions where you got to drive the Speeder Bike, STAP, Maru, and AAT were excellent as well. What I would do is expand the range of vehicles you can drive for each type of level. Add the AAC-1 Speeder Tank, GAT, Dark Acolyte, and AAT for tank levels, the AT-RT and AT-ST for walker levels, and the ARC-170, V-Wing, Y-Wing, Delta-7, and ETA-2 for gunship levels. Maybe create some new tanks and walkers just for the game.

I used to play this on the Gamecube when I was REALLY little. I didn't understand how to play, and I found it boring because of how vehicle-centric it was. When I was a kid, all I cared about was playing as a Jedi, so I would just play Geonosis Academy and sometimes the Multiplayer modes. I remember being disappointed that your characters were so small on-screen in the in Geonosis Academy. Seeing this video is actually kind of surreal because I have no recollection of the campaign AT ALL. I must not have touched it when I was a kid. Once Lego Star Wars 1 and the Battlefront games came out, I never looked back. I might pick this re-release up to relive the game. Keep up the awesome content, Flandrew!

it's probably just being a kid and growing up with starwars but I still feel the Clone wars is majorly underused for games. As a "galaxy wide conflict" it feels like we only get like 5 planets with some cameo appearances from 3 others. It's why I feel that things like Galactic Contention for squad, Almost any Arma 3 starwars mod and the clone wars era in the battlefront games are so loved but we constantly get the Empire vs rebellion as the main focus when the Clone war is an infinitely more interesting era.

That's the game from that (IRL) timeframe that I liked the LEAST, and this is owing to a lousy Christmas in which it was the only (gaming-related) present I received. Cleared it in a day and went back to my other games. Eventually gave it a second chance and tried to clear it 100% but one of the Raxus Prime secrets (from its second level) drove me nuts. I eventually got the other two games (Bounty Hunter and Jedi Outcast) later on: Bounty Hunter a few months later, and Jedi Outcast... some eight years later on a two-disc collection for PC; and the PS4 remaster some two years ago.

This game is a prime example of just how well Lucasfilm was streamlining the continuity between the movies and the Expanded Universe. The game connects directly to Ulic-Qel Droma, the protagonist of the Tales of the Jedi comics from the 90s, which also connected to Dark Empire through the planet of Ossus (the original planet of the Jedi). Exar Kun was the antagonist of those comics, and was featured in the Jedi Academy book trilogy. The Tales of the Jedi comics are also the backstory for the Knights of the Old Republic games, and you can find items related to some of the characters. Furthermore, Jedi Academy, the game, features Marka Ragnos, another Sith from the Tales of the Jedi comics. The Jedi Academy game was the last in the series of games with Kyle Katarn (Dark Forces, Dark Forces II, and Outcast). Dark Forces II featured the Valley of the Jedi on Ruusan, which was related to Darth Bane creating the Rule of 2. There was even a comic series, Jedi vs. Sith featuring this battle and the Sith thought bomb that trapped all of the Force spirits. These stories were exceptionally well done for the most part, and it's impressive how well Lucasfilm managed to pull off tying them all together in a way that made sense. If you haven't read these comics or played these games, they are well worth the time.
@yarpen26

Truth be told, the respect was mostly unidirectional from the game writers. Book authors largely refused to acknowledge game events until well into the 2000s (I remember the fandom going wild over Kyle Katarn finally getting a single damn mention in one of the NJO novels). I think the problem was that while many books were written by big names in the fantasy scene, those authors were typically boomers who looked down on video games. Mysteries of the Sith, for instance, had so many references to the Thrawn trilogy (granted, the Noghri being humongous beasts wasn't the best take on the source material), but nowhere in the books could you ever hope to find anything on that Rebel base from the beginning, for instance. It just never happened. There was just a lot of ego going on there, and not just against game devs, but also against each other. What I hated about Zahn's writing in particular was just how obsessed he was with his own small circle of characters and how he had them talk shit of other people's creations (like Pellaeon calling Daala an idiot in the Hand of Thrawn books).

This game is why I like vehicle games. The Jedi tank controls sure aren't great and a few moments but the vehicles, fair levels (eh Raxis Prime and Rhen Var) the HUD, the set pieces. The arena/multiplayer maps. It is good in some areas. Stretching hmm not good. Save states yep. Didn't remember ghr lasers being that good even in Battlefront 1&2 I think they twraked it there or its a bug in this emulated version of Clone Wars. I never played the academy mode but did the others in Force Unleashed. I only did the arena Thule Moon one and a few other maps. Ah PS5 struggles at some points sigh as usual with how the emulator goes.

This game is 60fps on ps5, it's standard for them to put old games to 60fps. Even Lego Star Wars 2 PSP port they put on 60fps(because of how easily PS5 can handle it)
This was my battlefront on GameCube before I got my ps2 a few years later. Still a fun game.
took me back 20 years to my first gamecube, had this and rogue leader. Amazing time
I’m old enough that nothing can be “BACK” unless its in Pog form.

Thank you for reminding me of the satisfaction that were those green lasers from the gun-ship. Rarely is a game weapon such pure joy.

That’s not funny it’s sad lmao
This is one of the many games that my dad and I would play together for hours, either taking turns or at the same time with multiplayer. He passed a few years ago and these videos have been a comfort for me in dealing with that. Thank you so much, Flandrew.

Well...this game was built on an earlier version of the Battlefront engine. Heck, this was the Battlefront before Battlefront. And everyone wanted a game where you are regular infantry. The rest is history. You wish was granted 20 years ago 😂
6:18 Don't forget about how you can see the dinosaurs's individual bones in their shadows
The multiplayer was so fun, especially conquest mode
Also, it's not too bizarre to have a video game sequel to a movie released a month later. Amazing Spider-Man's tie in game was essentially Movie 1.5, having an entirely different plot.
I remember this game, it was one of the first games I ever finished in one day, I liked to imagine Donkey Kong's invincibility theme from DK64 whenever my vehicle got the invincible boost
Thanks for the video i dint know this game out again!
Star Wars Star Fox Assault that has you use the Force in a tank fighting a UFO carolina reaper
Flandrew? More like Standrew, I cant stay away from this channel! Keeps the voiced away. Great video! I missed out on this PS2 game but had no idea it was the precursor to the battlefront games!
You didn’t mention the obscenely difficult twin tank battle is in the final stage. You have so many homing missiles to dodge, and the tanks know your every move! Beating them is a testament to your gaming skill.

This game is a favorite of mine. I played the co-op Horde mode with my friends a TON. Coolest depiction of the Republic Fighter Tank.
It was amazing to play this game again after so many years. Im glad you are talking about this game it seems nobody is talking about outside of Sly Cooper
The Syphon filter games are also available on ps5 now as well, it'd be awesome to see you do videos on those
Why didn't you also compare it with the back compat version on xbox series x|s?
Heck yeah. This is one of the few games my Dad actually enjoyed playing with me. We’d spend hours playing the multiplayer base levels.
I remembered this game on Xbox. Got stuck in one level where Anakin goes inside a building while Obi Wan was stuck outside fighting something.
2:37 When a Hornet lands next to me
I always loved the vehicle wave-based arena mode. I remember it getting ridiculously hard, but it might be because I was just a kid.
I saw this game in stores a lot, but didn’t know anyone who owned it. Surprised since Pandemic made so many great games that this one is relatively unknown, so I figured it was bad. I can’t definitely see how it laid the groundwork for their (much better) later Star Wars games
I remember Star Wars: The Clone Wars because it was bundled with Tetris Worlds in some original Xbox console bundle. I had a launch Xbox, so I didn't get that one. I did see it in stores all the time, usually bundled with Tetris Worlds.
Hope they also include the episode 3 game and possibly even the sidescroller version of it. Some of my favourite oldschool starwars games.
The cool thing about conquest was that captured bases spawned npc units so it was MOBA like in a way too
Now can we get Episode 3 re-release for the ps5!?! PLEASE!?! If we can get this we can get episode 3!
I just bought this PS2 game a few months ago to play it for the first time ^^
This game was actually my introduction to Star Wars as a franchise. It was the multiplayer game of choice for my friends and I, even if I was never able to actually beat the game. Damn Protodeka or whatever it was called.
Great to see all these classic old Starwars games coming back 🙂👍
This was one of the last games I played together with one of my best buds before he took his life a few years later...RIP Tony.
This was my first star wars game love it to this day
My question is, how does this compare to the Enhanced Xbox version on Series X and S? Which one looks or plays better?
I loved this game to death back in the day, just wished we could get rouge squadron 2 and rebelstrike from the gamecube.

Miss the 2000s game dev horniness. It was silly af but at least was honest. Much better than the crap they push out today to appease those who don't even touch these games to begin with.
This game is actually in my top 3 Star Wars games. Always been a hidden gem for me. Always loved playing it and getting all the challenges completed. The variance in gameplay with all the vehicles and character was so cool. Love this game
I always regretted not finishing this on the OG Xbox as a kid!!! I had fond memories of it though! I legit had no idea that Geonosis area mode existed 😂 I’ll have to pick this up eventually! Bummer about the cutscene stretching but it’s nice to see the game on modern hardware!
I loved this game growing up, and this was the game that made me want a 'horde' mode in Halo. We didn't get it until Reach after Gears of War popularized the idea.
1:42 I see that's where Ben Swolo got his genes from
The republic walker at-xp I think it was called and the ift-x tank are among the most badass vehicles ever in Star Wars imo, def gotta buy this and take a trip down memory lane. PS the geonosis arena was AWESOME, still remember that back in the day ❤
I would loved to play this game again.
I love that it is back again
My childhood!
I wanted to play the Jedi academy mode so badly as a kid but didn't have a second controller
Back when they released it as part of the last batch of back compat games on Xbox a few years ago. I had to buy it for that nostalgia. Plays well too on Series. Auto HDR / FPS Boost to 60 FPS and higher resolution(textures still look the same)
I really would love to try this game, I tried to play it on the 360 but unfortunately the backwards compatility was removed. But since I have an Xbox One, I might give it a try since I remember wanting to play this game when Episode 2 was released into theaters.
I have this game on GameCube and it has four player split screen. Which is pretty cool.
If you are wondering "but when does it come on Xbox" - It already is and has been for a while now.

Love the game. Been waiting for it to cokr back
It's clear to see Pandemic were inspired by the Rogue Squadron (yes and Battle for Naboo) games with how the vehicles feel, and they did a great job for sure! It's still a ton of fun to play, aged quite gracefully! Always great to see it brought to new audiences.

God this takes me back to my 10 year old self with an Xbox and constantly failing at finishing the Anakin Wookie Level Those were the days 😊
This game was an absolute baller! Weird tho to think there was a Clone Wars before Ahsoka and Captain Rex came onto the scene
it's probably just being a kid and growing up with starwars but I still feel the Clone wars is majorly underused for games.
I don't know if i beat the level on the speeder droid speeder unfortunately. 😭 The cut scenes were pretty good for there tine though.

Playing the first one recently yeah it would be funny to see him cover it with some jokes and how hmm they hold up. The bonus behind the scenes were great the game itself has ok ideas and with the partial aspects of the Lego formula. Never played Caspian at all (I did used to own LWW and always got stuck at the stealth bit with the boxes and hiding under the table/in the trunk but beat it a week ago besides a few cheats in last 3 levels) or the Dawn Threader mobile game as the console one was cancelledm
Platinum’d this in two days, what a blast! Revenge of the Sith is the dream
I've never actually heard of this game. 🤔 so many games I've missed growing up
Was literally just thinking they should rerelease this a few days ago. Haven't played it since I was 9 or 10. Now fingers crossed for a Rogue Squadron trilogy.
Good to see it coming back, remember playing it on PS2, but is it coming to PC? 😊
Hell yeah we got this gem back!
I remember discovering this game and kotor around the same time but my mushy child brain confused them both. I hated clone wars but loved kotor so whenever i booted up cw i would wonder when im getting back to the cool rpg dialogue and stuff lol.
I remember playing this religiously on the original Xbox all the way towards the last missions and then one day the disc stopped reading for some reason and I never found out how the game ended until years and years later 😢
That game is the reason i fell in love with Lego 7679.
This game was so fun. The LAAT was the coolest thing to play around in.
I’ve only seen the box in the tetris double pack, never played or even seen gameplay of this game.
This is basically how this game was remastered for the Xbox Series X|S a few years ago, with 4K textures, 60 FPS gameplay, and 16:9 widescreen gameplay and cutscenes.
this is such an insane game to port
Funny thing is, we've had that for years now.... ps need to play catch up so bad.
PS2 jank aside, I still had fun playing this again. You can get the platinum trophy in 1 or 2 sessions if you care about that sort of thing. As everyone else has said, the LAAT gunship levels are still super fun.
I hope we get the Rogue Squadron Trilogy next. Or Star Wars Episode 3
I bought this game on ps5 to play for the first time, and had a great time! Well worth 4 quid. My favourite vehicle has to be the gunship, it's so fun to unleash the green laser aimed by presumably sniper elite clones
i remember renting this game from blockbuster and playing multiplayer over my childhood friend's house
Are you gonna look at Sly Cooper too? It's one of my favourite games ever.
Whoa. This game existed!?! Never knew that….
I like how you casually passed over the fact that you fight literal GHOSTS to talk to Qel-Droma. 😂
One of the most underrated Star Wars games
Never played it. Gonna grab it now.
I wish the Dark Reaper story made into the Clone Wars animated series. One, it would have added some Old Republic material to current canon. Two, it's just a really cool concept that fits the Sith a lot more than Palpatine's bland Death Stars.
Okay, poll for the old school Star Wars gamers out here- Which game had worse on-foot gameplay- Clone Wars or Rogue Squadron 3?
In a Galaxy far far away, there will always be a clone war
This game felt like someone put Raiders of the Lost Ark in my Star Wars game.

He skipped the part where you fight ghosts in a tank by blowing up a bunch of graves (also the ghosts shoot you with a projectile that looks alot like the aat’s main gun’s projectile
It’s been playable on Xbox digital backwards compatibility for years

Yep 360 but removed them back again for Xbox One/Series.
Absolutely loved this game as a kid but could never beat the reaper without “lordofsith” cheat code lol.
Needs to show up on PC and Steam
Still a better plot compared to what Disney is doing majority of the time.
Pretty cool to see this game get a ps5 rerelease, I hope they continue to rerelease classic Star Wars titles with updated graphic!
