The clone troopers at the beginning of Witches of the Mist look different because they are Rupublic Commandos. They were first introduced with their own FPS video game and they've been featured in different books and comics set in the SW universe. They're interesting because they have their own personalities and style that make them stand apart from the other Clones.
21:58 “I wanted to keep it hush hush” I could tell as soon as you saw Savage stand up from that table lol.

God, I freaking love how Count Dooku's fighting style is literally just classical fencing with a lightsaber. It's so elegant but also so imposing, the way he manages to defeat his enemies without even breaking from his composure and his fancy fighting style. He doesn't really get too many chances to show off his skills at their fullest extent, but every time he does it's such a treat.
@gazzamanazza4pm

In universe it's flavoured as Form II, or Makashi, the Contention Form. It was the second lightsaber form created and was developed as a counter to the basic fundamentals of Form I by introducing a focus on dueling. Dooku is a master of it. Edit - I just saw some of your other comments, so I guess you know this already. Oh well.

Oh yeah, we are getting into the juicy stuff
George Lucas's daughter who has appeared in some of the prequel films wrote this arc and she also wrote some upcoming big episodes in this series and she also wrote the Dark DIsciple arc. I think she has said that Ventress is her favourite character.
Yea, count dooku used force lightning in the live action movie on anakin in that cave at the end of attack of the clones.
The show definitely gets darker after this arc, specially the episodes featuring Savage and his "long-lost brother". Excited to see what you think of the rest of the series :)
This is where the show gets from good to great! One my fav earlier arcs too.
The events in this episode is a huge domino effect for this series, as well for Rebels, Solo and The Mandalorian

Hey, Imon! NIGHTSISTERS: The origin of ASAJJ VENTRESS revealed! A Dathomiri Zabrak by birth, she is raised by the Nightsisters. Given as a slave to a Siniteen master as part of some bargain, his death at the hands of Weequay pirates triggers a Force-manipulation detected by Human Jedi Master Ky Narec who takes her as a Padawan until Weequays kill him, too. Enraged and adrift, she auditions for Dooku as his assassin and he takes her on as a Dark Side adept. Her AUDITION for Dooku as well as her starfighter with the hemispheric fan-sail are both seen in the non-canon 2003 Micro-series. The INTRODUCTION of MOTHER TALZIN and the NIGHTSISTERS of Dathomir. The INTRODUCTION of KARIS and NAA'LETH. Naa'leth is the one with the bow. The NIGHTSISTERS were first introduced in a 1985 made-for-TV movie called "Ewoks: Battle for Endor". The cult was founded by a rogue human female Jedi 600 years before "A New Hope". She settled on DATHOMIR, a world rich with Dark Side energy that manifested as a green ichor called The Water of Life. She lured the human female colonists away from their families and formed the first Nightsister clan which continued to grow with new recruits into the cult. Fear of the cult eventually conferred a haunted reputation on the witch-world and enabled the Nightsisters to lay claim to the planet as their own trading their power for favors and influence. ZABRAKS like Jedi Master Eeth Koth and bounty huntress Sugi call IRIDONIA their homeworld. At some point in the past, pirates brought Zabrak captives to the Nightsisters to sell. The clan purchased the males, set up a compound for them at some remove from their Temple and interbred with the fiercest. The offspring were Human-Zabrak hybrids known as DATHOMIRI ZABRAK such as Darth Maul. The female children replenished the clan and the male children were sent back to the compound. All Zabrak Nightbrothers and Nightsisters on Dathomir nowadays are of this hybrid variety. THE WATER OF LIFE is a powerful green elixir with the consistency of ichor whose most crucial ingredient is a hunk of flesh from a titanic crustacean-like leviathan known as the SLEEPER. Residing deep beneath the watery pools in the Nightsister Temple, it is ancient and can manipulate the Dark Side of the Force. The Nightsisters must dominate the beast and force it to tear a piece of its flesh off to use in making The Water of Life elixir as a rite of passage. Failure to subjugate the beast to one's will results in the beast subjugating the initiate to its will pulling them into the pool to feast on them in its lair. Not every Nightsister initiate survives. THE WATER OF LIFE is clearly inspired by Frank Herbert's "Dune" whose very own Water of Life is the death-vomit of a drowned baby sandworm used by the Bene Gesserit witches as a psychotropic narcotic to unlock genetic memory. The liquid is lethally toxic but a recipient trained to control their own body's metabolism can convert the poison into the consciousness-expanding narcotic. Obi-Wan Kenobi loses the body armor and takes on the ROBED APPEARANCE he has in "Revenge of the Sith" from here on out much like Anakin did last arc. Excellent THREE-WAY Jedi duel between Obi, Ani and Asajj. Excellent FOUR-WAY duel between Dooku, Asajj and the Nightsister duo. George Lucas' daughter, KATIE LUCAS, wrote "Jedi Crash" (Season 1, Episode 13) with Aayla Secura, "Sphere of Influence" (Season 3, Episode 4) with Riyo Chuchi and "Assassin" (Season 3, Episode 7) with Aurra Sing. With this episode, she formally takes over the authorship of Asajj Ventress. MONSTER: The INTRODUCTION of SAVAGE OPRESS voiced by CLANCY BROWN, a sci-fi mainstay known most famously as the Kurgan from "Highlander". I feel for the man Savage once was. The Nightsisters turned him into a brute! As a Dathomiri Zabrak, he is a hybrid with a heritage of Force-sensitivity but the transformation ritual imbues him with Dark Side energy that enhances his sensitivity. The INTRODUCTION of BROTHER VISCUS and the NIGHTBROTHERS of Dathomir. The first mention of DARTH MAUL! This episode demonstrates the absolute MATRIARCHY of Dathomir. It is revealed that MOTHER TALZIN is INDEBTED to Dooku for some past service he performed. Delivering Savage clears her of the debt. However, it also sows the seeds of Ventress' revenge plot. Talzin has agreed to betray Dooku in order to aid a wronged Nightsister yet has no qualms about doing harm to a former benefactor. Is it just that loyalty to the Sisterhood trumps all other relationships or could there be another reason why Talzin wishes to destroy Dooku? The answer is revealed in the "Son of Dathomir" graphic novel as part of Season 6! DEVARON is the homeworld of the Devaronians who look like horned demons. The slain Jedi Master was a Roonan named HALSEY and the slain Jedi Padawan was a Nautolan named KNOX, ill-fitting names for the exotic duo making them sound more like a country music group! Halsey & Knox! Lol. KATIE LUCAS again writes the episode. WITCHES OF THE MIST: VENTRESS' PLOT to avenge herself against Dooku comes to an exciting climax in this episode! Cameo appearance by DELTA SQUAD, the Clone Commando unit from the 2005 "Republic Commando" video game, transporting the corpses of Jedis Halsey and Knox back to Coruscant from Devaron. The four-man squad consists of BOSS, FIXER, SEV and SCORCH. Toydarian KING KATUUNKO returns after his last appearance in "Ambush" (Season 1, Episode 1). Dooku apparently held a grudge after the Toydarian king rebuffed his offer to join the Separatists. SAVAGE has been fashioned into a blunt instrument filled with rage so he quite naturally turned on both his abusive masters. Another great THREE-WAY JEDI DUEL and THREE-WAY DOOKU DUEL but the only casualty was one of Savage's horns! I love how the battle droids are just tossed around like rag dolls by everybody! The first glimpse of DARTH MAUL since "Phantom Menace". MAUL LIVES!!! KATIE LUCAS again writes the episode.
I don‘t even know why, but Dooku just absolutely DESTROYING Ventress twice despite being outnumbered, while remaining absolutely chill the entire time brings infinite joy to me. He is just too cool.
I love Dooku's Makashi choreography in this episode. Originally they didn't place as much emphasis on the personalized styles of each duelist but here it's on full display.

The planet Dathomir and its Nightsisters were developed by writer Dave Wolverton for his 1994 Star Wars novel "The Courship of Princess Leia". After this they made various further appearances in Star Wars media, and it was their inclusion in "The Clone Wars: Jedi Alliance" video game which inspired their appearance in this series.

Hahaha I remember that book. I am very sure that author was into BDSM or something, because there were quite a few passages in there that reminded me more of an erotic novel than a sci-fi 😂
Ventress is such a captivating character. I really wish to see her in a live action adaption. 3:15 I had not caught the remorse in Dooku's voice until your reactino (ty!) as he speaks to Ventress and abandons her, I sympathized with Dooku, sensing how he truly was fond of her but his fear of Palpatine was much greater.
Located deep within the borders of Separatist space was Serenno, Count Dooku's home planet and site of his ancestral lands. When Dooku turned his back on the Jedi Order, he reclaimed his title, wealth and territory, moving his base of operations to a cliff-side palace with a commanding view of the lush forests of his homeworld. Heavily cordoned by Separatist warships, Serenno was kept insulated from the worst of the Clone Wars battles, giving it a deceptively tranquil air.
According to the legends of the noble houses of the planet, Serenno was once a planet under the control of the Sith Empire. The eight great houses were mobilized by the House Serenno and, according to their histories, expelled the Sith forces without Jedi assistance. As a result the planet was subsequently renamed in honor of Serenno, member of the house. Later, he formed the Planetary Council and joined the Galactic Republic.
The Night Sisters are my favorite thing in the Clone Wars because I love seeing a different application of The Force. That's all it is, just implemented differently.
“I do not need my eyes to see you… Jedi!” combined with the shot of Dooku jumping down to the ground and igniting his lightsaber are some of the reasons why this fight is my favourite in the show. There are better fights, but i love it all the same.
My biggest take away from this arc has always been just how insane Dooku was as a warrior. Even as a fan of expanded universe lore, Dooku has never quite had as great of a showing as he did in this arc. He just effortlessly, systematically destroys his foes. With pure elegance to boot. God it's so satisfying.
Form II, also known as Makashi is Count Dooku's fighting style The Way of the Ysalamiri, or The Contention Form, was the second of the seven classic forms of lightsaber combat. Developed for the purpose of lightsaber-to-lightsaber combat, to address the failings of Form I, Makashi was the most dueling-centric of the seven classical forms. Relying on precision and efficiency over Shii-Cho's wild, sweeping motions, Form II allowed an initiate to defend themselves against an opponent with minimal effort, while placing a heavy focus on avoiding disarmament.
This was the beginning of the show getting better and better (with a few missteps here and there) with each season. Also this is when the show became darker - fewer "fun adventures" and heavy stories.
Redemption for Ventress? That would be crazy and probably your new favorite character! I think this point in the Clone Wars is referred to as, "Where the Fun Begins."
In the audiobook Of Dooku Jedi Lost we get to explore more of COunt Dooku's past like his friendship with Sifo Dyas as well as with his master Yod his padawan Qui Gon and his relationship with his sister Jenza, it also explores more about his home planet and explains the why he left the Jedi Order and why he became the next Count, also we get to discover Ventress relationship with her master Dooku.
2:31 not guaranteed but generally speaking the sith mindset is master trains apprentice until apprentice gets their own and then kills master to replace
Always love learning about new force cults other than Jedi/Sith, everything about the nightsisters and their magic is interesting to me.
This is where the fun begins 😫
The effect used on Mother Talzin's voice is directly inspired by the effect used for "The Voice" used by the Bene Gesserit to influence and control people in the 1984 film Dune

Thats true. The concept of the force seems to be taken from The Voice as well anyway.
23:15. That's what he wanted to do with Obi Wan as well. Remember in Attack of the Clones he tried to convince Obi Wan to join him.
If you play at the games "Fallen Order" & "Jedi Survivor", you are going to Dathomir. And sister Merrin is a nightsister. They is a lot of backstory about "The Clone War" ^^
This shows how good Dooku really is. Despite being pretty much 90% blind he still successfully fought off three of them and ejected them from his house. He would probably be more than a match for Sidious if they fought head on. He may be weaker but his fighting style and pure skill would allow him to match up to make up for his lack of power. Him, Mace Windu, and Yoda are the only ones that could realistically take Sidious in a head on fight alone. Also Savage Oppress is incredibly dangerous. He was very likely force sensitive already and was able to put up a decent hand to hand fight against Ventress. And after he was juiced up from magic he was thrust into the dark side and given easier access to it's power because of how his mind was altered. He was bulked up to the point where he could take regular Jedi on and tank blaster shots without breaking a sweat. His potential was significantly magnified by the night sisters magic as well because with a short span of time of training he was able to fight off Anakin and Obi-wan and escape. He is a massive threat because of his immense brute strength, brutality, and unnatural potential. It's very likely that only Anakin's potential surpasses his. Some complained that he beat those two Jedi way too easily considering he had no sith training but you don't need training in the force to kill a jedi. He comes from a warrior clan where they are all battle hardened and train all the time. Meanwhile many of the jedi saw little battle experience before the war. He is more than capable of taking out two low tier jedi after he was juiced up by magic.
You would enjoy the Star Wars novel, "Dark Disciple" with Ventress, Dooku. It's one of the best that I've read.
She really said heart eyes for savage 😂
20:36 😂😂😂 As someone who grew up with this show it teaches a lot of good and bad lessons, especially about patience.
Savage Opress ate those droid’s bullets 😭
Serenno was ruled by Count Gora. Shortly after the birth of his second son, Dooku, Gora realized that the boy was Force-sensitive; due to his hatred of them Gora quickly contacted the Jedi Order and then left the boy alone in the forest outside of his palace to die or be found by the Jedi seekers. Gora subsequently refused to speak of Dooku. As such, his other two children, Ramil and Jenza, and the wider Serennian public were initially unaware of Dooku's existence. Gora's rule was unpopular for many Serennians due to him often laying off workers and replacing them with droids. The unrest even led to a protest in 82 BBY at the Funeral of Countess Anya, during which Gora almost ordered his Security Droids to fire on the protestors until Dooku intervened. This intervention unwittingly revealing Dooku's identity as Gora's son to the Serennian public.
In an old comic a poison dart was used on Dooku. He simply shrugged it of and told Jango that it had been quite some time since he had to use the force to cleanse his body from a poison. Maybe the poison in this dart was powerful enough to kill a normal person but they knew it would only be enough to dull his senses
Around 23 BBY, in the great hall of his castle, Dooku tasked Asajj Ventress to go and find his sister, Lady Jenza. For her to find Jenza, she looked through datapads and Dooku's journal, and learned how Dooku was before he left the Jedi Order. She finds out that she had been kidnapped and would be tracking Glute, a Crolute criminal who was hired by Raz Fellidrone. Before Ventress could get information from Glute, a sudden blaster bolt was fired into Glute's head, shot by a Republic Intelligence officer, Raz Fellidrone. He tortured Jenza to try to get information out of her to help the Galactic Republic. Ventress caught up with him and stabbed him through his chest with her lightsaber in his apartment on Serenno. Dooku really intended for Jenza to be killed, for the information she held, as Ventress was later ordered. She then said "I'm sorry" as she buried her lightsaber into Jenza's chest.
Loving this Clone War's journey Imon Snow! 😂
I remember seeing promotions for this episode in a movie theather, also the promos for Cartoon Network for these episodes got me hyped when I was a kid
Mother Talzin's appearance is based on the design for a "Sith Witch" that was an early idea for Darth Sidious apprentice in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. The design was finally rejected in favour of Darth Maul. Because some said it was to scary, and I can't imagine how a live action Mother Talzin would look like, Just a Star Wars Horror movie with Mother Talzin directed by the guy who directed The Witch.
Dooku is siddious elegant side. A masterswordsman who studies the force. Maul is siddious savage side but also his ability to plan. While dooku always plans with siddious Maul is able to scheme all by himself and manipulate others. He is also fueled by pure rage and is the most savage. And Vader? Vader is the most powerful sith ever, so siddious crippled him in a suit. He is fueled by physical pain but also the pain of loosing his wife. In siddious eyes is forever a servant because he is attached to his master, even though vader was much more powerful even in his suit. Each apprentice represents a part of their master. Dooku the one who researches, trains and learns. Maul the one with a savage instinct for the dark side and a devious mind. And vader a loyal servant who is well versed in all things military and in tune with the force like no other, but you wont see vader researching like dooku or planning to get ahead like maul. Vader solves the Problems he is presented crushes his enemies and than retires to his home to mourn his wife.
The Nightsisters are somewhat reminiscent of the Bene Gesserit of Frank Herbert's "Dune" canon.
Ventress’s fan ship and white outfit were in the 2D clone wars micro series, which I highly recommend checking out as well. It’s much shorter A single stranded jedi (Ky Narec) took in Ventress, not the Order at large. Part of her resentment toward the jedi is that they never rescued him, which could’ve prevented his death. I guess it has been a while, but Dooku has displayed use of force lightning before, even in this show Nightsister magick is the force. Just a different aspect of it “I don’t think this is for kids” 5 seasons on cartoon network 😂 (6 came out on netflix and 7 on DisneyPlus The cool looking clones are Republic Commandos. The best of the best. These specific ones are actually featured in the game of the same name Zabrak is the horn head species. Dathomirians are a subspecies of zabrak with a lot more dimorphism between sexes, compared to iridonian zabraks. So even the nightsisters are zabrak, they just look very different
The arc that started pushing this on from a good Star Wars show, to a great one. Love me some Ventress, and Dooku is such an elegant swordsman.
Season 3 was when the animation style really started to shine, just stunning
Crazy that there are three religions worshipping the same god, but interpreting the messages differently. Jedi, Sith, and witches worship the force. Where have we seen three different religions following the same bloodline?

It's far more than three. Don't forget the force existed long before space travel. Many different species in the star wars universe, especially highly force sensitive species, have an understanding or interpretation of the force and embedded it into their culture. Tails of the jedi and star wars rebels showed this a little bit.

Those "cool looking" clones are known as Delta Squad, a unit within the Clone Commandos division of the Republic military. The Republic's best of the best clone troops (and yes, they can be called 'clone troops' as well!! :) I remember a past reaction of yours where you were wondering if that was a proper term for them and it indeed is. Much like 'U.S. troops' or 'British troops', 'Russian troops', etc. It's just another way of describing the Republic army in short form, is all). The elite, top tier soldiers. Essentially, the "Delta Force" / "DEVGRU" / "Navy Seals" / "Green Berets" of the GAR, if you will. The Bad Batch are part of that category, the Clone Commandos.
I always thought Clancy Brown's more famous character is Lex Luthor, I first saw his work as Lex Luthor in the Superman animated series, his performance as Luthor is probably the best when it comes to animation and live action.
A wonderful beginning to a host of some of the greatest trilogies to SWTCW. I so looked forward to this arc. Now, I understand your use of the word 'dark,' but you may have to find new words later! And yes a kids show, but closer to young adult!!
There's Jedi, Sith, and witches
Very sad to be late to this one but I was away on a camping trip. This is where things start kicking up a notch! I remember being slightly amazed the first time I saw this when Dooku turned on Ventress, and even more surpised at how I found myself sympathising with Ventress! Her powers definitely seem to increase in this episode, but the rage of being betrayed probably let her tap deeper into the dark side. The Nightsisters are awesome, and it's great that this show brought them into a wider audience eye. In case it's not clear, their "Magicks" are a unique, ritualistic means of tapping into the Force, most often into the Dark Side. Lots of little things to point out here too as others have already, like the Republic Commandos (more specifically the Delta Squad from the game) making an appearance, but this is really the point at which our story begins to get darker and twistier. The pods you see hanging from the trees on Dathomir aren't homes, by the way. They have a... different purpose. You'll see!
"we're loyal to each other."
It isnt Magic it is just another way to use the force.
13:11 The Celestials (the Mortis Gods you later see) would be the most powerful "Jedi" ever, actually.
Savage oppress' species are called zabraks.

If you find Savage Opress attractive, it just means your a strong woman who sees his power and physique as one you enjoy on screen. The fact that they modeled these groups after cultures we know here on Earth is a beautiful thing. Dathomir reminds me of a Voodoo Planet, full of mysticism and martial arts training combined. I enjoyed the time we spent there and thought the females were very attractive! The depth that Star Wars goes to bee inclusive of all types of thoughts, beliefs and political systems, always has brought a touch of reality to the space opera in a galaxy far far away and a long time ago! Wink 😉

Ventress couldn't even touch Darth Sidious by herself, what he's really afraid of is that Dooku and her would work together. Don't get me wrong Ventress is a cool character, but she's nowhere near powerful enough to beat Sidious.
"I do not think this is for kids" Oh really? What makes you say that? 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 I say this is 100% for children of all ages. They definitely won't be scarred at all by the amount of violence and torture it shows.
Ventress gains a lot more complexity with these episodes
Can't wait for more clone wars!
It's such an amazing arc. Make sure you do Rebels and Bad Batch.
Ugh, this show is so good!
So good
I disagree kids shouldn't watch this. I watched the *entire* show and movie back when it all originally aired and I was only 8 at that time. 24 now and I think I came out alright! Haha. Without TCW, I wouldn't be nearly the kind, intelligent, thoughtful and generous, well-rounded man I am today. It's important to not be so coddled and sheltered in life. Kids need to see that life isn't always butterflies and rainbows at an early age in their development, otherwise it can be detrimental to them later on. Obviously, there's a balance and I believe TCW masters that balance to incredible perfection--minus a couple of officially 'TV-14' rated episodes that somehow made it onto Cartoon Network ;)). It's beautiful and tragic at the same time, such as life. Rest assured, it's no where NEAR Game of Thrones or Breaking Bad levels of maturity or violence, it is digestible enough within the Star Wars universe without being so overbearing and legitimately disturbing...in most ways, so it's okay lol!! And to be fair, Revenge of the Sith had Anakin literally burning alive, skin peeling off and everything, and yet every kid and their mother went out to see that and came out enjoying it greatly and having it impact their own lives and childhoods to an immensely positive degree hehe. ;)

She wasn't badly written, though a few things needed tidying up for her story to make it more engaging. I do agree about the overacting though.
