The Clone Wars Ep 5 (1x1) - "Ambush" REACTION!! (YODA IS AWESOME!)

I loved this episode of The Clone Wars!
Yoda has got to be one of my favorite characters. If I could spend even an hour with this man would be a treat. I love Yodas philosophy about life. This episode was so needed for me!

That conversation Yoda has with the Clones is so important to the lore of this show and Star Wars over all.

That moment when we learn that Yoda sees the clones as individuals is one of my favorites of the whole series.

And the amazing voice acting of Dee Bradley Baker, the voice of the Clones. After a while watching the series you can tell which clone is speaking without looking at the screen. Dozens of characters all literal clones of each other and he finds ways to have different personality and tone to their voices.

Yup, couldn’t have said it better myself! Between giving slightly different accents to some, to giving deeper/more gravelly voices to older clones, and lots more, it’s really fun to keep an ear out for the differences

I note how he changes Rex over the war though. To start with, Rex is the heroic leader of men; but seeing what happens to him and his brothers throughout the war, Rex becomes quieter and more introvert as he sees how wrong this whole thing is.

Yoda deactivating and disarming Ventress’s lightsabers from her hands significantly displays how OP Yoda is compared to Ventress. One of the first things a force wielder learns when lightsaber dueling is how to create a defensive force shield around themselves so that their opponent cannot deactivate or disarm their lightsabers from their hands because they’re one with their lightsabers. Ventress is a strong duelist and has dueled some of the best lightsaber duelists, but Yoda showed her she clearly wasn’t ready for his level. Whenever you see someone in Star Wars deactivating or disarming a lightsaber out of the hands of their opponent, that person is VERY strong in the force! It happens several times throughout the various Star Wars series.

Its a good point. Ventress is very formidable; but she isn't on the level of Yoda, Obi-Wan (later), Dooku or Sidious.

What makes this show great is, it trusts it's audience which was marketed to kids to understand the themes. It doesn't hold your hand.

Rugosa in fact used to have vast oceans that dried up I want to say something about the Separatists but it’ll come up later, but it’s gonna be a bit. I’ll just say that the clones aren’t the only ones you get more insight into.

Great reaction as always. As much as you like it now the series gets better as you go along, with things really becoming great by season 3. I can’t wait to see your reactions to the rest of this iconic series

I love your appreciation of these early episodes. Many people find them childish or boring (they aren't popular in general) but they all carry some sort of message. Also liked your interpretation at the end. This is how the reaction should look like. Other reaction KZreadrs should learn from you :)

I’m really glad you’re loving the show so far, this episode may be simple, but it’s so nice hearing wise words from yoda to his troops, seeing him meme on ventress, and his… Interesting battle strategies 😄 And yeah, if my memory of the lore is correct, you were right about the planet being a former waterworld, which is why it’s basically a massive coral reef across the surface. Most folks don’t notice that, so i already can’t wait to see what other cool details you notice, especially once the show starts getting more complex.

The Clone Troopers you see in this episode are apart of the Coruscant Guard a division of elite clone shock troopers organized to serve as a military police force and protect the Galactic Republic capital planet of Coruscant. These troopers would also accompany senator's mostly on diplomatic missions like we see in this episode. The Clones in this episode are Lieutenant Thire including shock troopers Jek and Rys. You first would've seen Shock Troopers in Revenge of the Sith (Clones who wore Red makings on their Phase 2 armour) they were the clones who found Anakin's burnt body and were seen in the senate looking for Yoda after his battle with the Emperor. You also saw Clone Troopers in the Clone Wars movie who came to Padmé Amidala rescue when she went to Jabba's uncle Ziro at his night club on Coruscant lead by Commander Fox. As you can see there's a lot of Clone divisions, legions, and companies all with their colours and markings something you don't see with Stormtroopers who were all white any personally from the solider was removed for a more uniform look throughout the ranks only way you could tell if a Stormtrooper was a higher rank is if they wore a pauldron the colour depending on the rank. unlike Clones the Stormtroopers could not customize their armour and many referred to each other by their TK number for example TK-421 instead of their actual name or nickname. On the topic of the episode overall this was the first episode of season 1 which as a whole isn't as good as Season 3 and beyond the last few episodes like the Clones training are from Season 3.

Hi Imon. I hope that you are well. I really enjoyed your reaction and your perspective on master Yoda. He's so great. He doesn't judge others. Instead he takes opportunities to guides others and acknowledges people's individual strengths. Thank you for being a mental Wellness advocate. I have major depression and generalized anxiety disorder so I really understood your story of doing small tasks and forming habits.

I'm working my way through _The Clone Wars_ and watching your wonderful videos at the end of each season, Imon. The lengths you could relate Yoda to your own health or struggle with depression was inspiring. Instead of dwelling on the things he can't change, Master Yoda focuses on what he is empowered to control: his perspective. He is certainly--along with Mr. Miyagi--a mentor of my generation. p.s. So far, the _Clone Wars_ character you remind me of most is Ahsoka. She is on her path too.

Awesome that you're already loving the series, it just keeps getting better season after season, as does the animation and graphics! One suggestion though for the sake of time, you may want to, if you can, lump the larger multi episode story arcs together into a single reaction, I only mention it due to the number of episodes and all the other content and series yet to come; no pressure though, having a blast watching you discover this wonderful franchise regardless.

Love Ventress, but Yoda owns her here haha. Along with the humour, action and little interactions about the clones and listening to the force; this is a solid first entry to the series. The force is the most fascinating aspect of Star Wars for me, the fact that with patience, training and listening to it, you can improve yourself. And that it is open to everyone. Some people don't like that idea, as they think it should be open only to those who are born strong in the force like the Jedi; but this was always Lucas's message, which we can apply to ourselves to try to become better people to ourselves and others around us. When you are mentioning about cleaning, thats one of the things why doing chores is important for monks (Christian, Buddhist or otherwise). The process of cleaning, tidying, not only helps improve your surrounding environment (something I struggle with), but it does help clear the mind, to reduce stress and worry, and that accomplishment when the task is complete, releases dopamine, which can help us improve our mood and get us through our day.

I think she’s on to something there with the comment about the force. I’ve had dreams that were harbingers to future events, and sometimes I have have visions of what’s going to happen while I’m awake too (if you think I’m lying, look up foreshadowing dreams and you’ll prob believe me 😂)

Some of the story arcs in The Clone Wars span three or four episodes, and are intended to be watched together in one sitting (according to supervising director Dave Filoni). Perhaps you should consider doing that when the time comes, and watching some of them like a movie! :)

Hey, Imon! AMBUSH: Originally, this continuation of the TOYDARIAN plot from "Supply Lines" was the first episode of the series to air! This is one of the better episodes of the whole series let alone the first season and is essential viewing. The RETURN of KING KATUUNKO and ASAJJ VENTRESS! The moon serving as the rendezvous, RUGOSA, once was covered with a vast ocean which has since dried up leaving dense thickets of coral exposed on the former seabed. The non-threatening BATTLE DROIDS are a movie failing. The idea is that they can be mass-produced and can overwhelm an enemy with numerical superiority but they're just spindly cannon fodder and their hijinks are childish. The SUPER BATTLE DROIDS with the broad chassis, the shielded spherical DROIDEKAS and as yet to be seen COMMANDO DROIDS are much better enemies. Not only does YODA tear it up in this episode but his quiet pep talk differentiating the clones is masterful and moving.
