I think what killed soaps was when many of them increased their number of weekly episodes. The quality went down and the storylines got more unbelievable.

Haven't watched Emmerdale since the village held a pride event. There were literally more people in my local supermarket at 9:30 pm, than live in Emmerdale village

They wrote two gay characters out of Emmerdale then promptly brought two new gay characters in. A random woman turned up and she happened to be a lesbian so a new partner for the lesbian vet. WTF?

The television producers seem to have an agenda. Despite the negative affect on viewing figures they continue to do it. They have forgotten they should be entertaining their audience not promoting this nonsense. As for the 3rd commentator saying soaps reflect society- I am 64 years old and I have never met any real life characters with such bizarre lives as seen in soaps. It always makes me laugh when after a particularly unrealistic and ridiculous episode a comment pops up-"If you have been affected by what you have seen ....etc etc."

Great question. Answer. 1.Race swapping and gender swapping existing characters. 2. Screwing around with existing mythology to push a progressive agenda. 3. Rewriting history in your stories specifically to push a progressive agenda. 4. Overselling female empowerment by creating “Mary Sue” characters. 5. Inserting sexual identity politics into story lines that have ZERO to do with sexual identity as though 1 in 4 people are from the alphabet community. 6. Blaming whites for all the problems on earth. 7. Inserting progressive political ideology into children’s stories. Does that help?

I watch tv and film to escape the real world and all this woke politics. Now it's entering my escapism.... it's exhausting. Can they just maybe not.🙄
