The City - March 13, 1996

Ойын-сауық

Full episode of The City from my personal VHS archive. This aired on Wednesday, March 13, 1996.
In this episode, Jocelyn Brown's (Lisa LoCicero) birthday dinner ends uncomfortably due to the strange dynamics she and Danny Roberts (Ted King) have with their father, Lou (Robert Trumbull). Alex Masters (Randolph Mantooth) notices Jocelyn's tenseness around her father, while Molly Malone (Melissa Dye) may have inadvertently come across one of 212 Greene Street's secrets. Sidney Chase (Morgan Fairchild) and her onetime love Nick Rivers (Roscoe Born) discuss the recent revelation that she had once carried his child and her subsequent decision to marry business mogul Jared Chase (Joel Fabiani). Meanwhile, the recently returned Jared-previously believed to be dead-introduces himself to Angie (Debbi Morgan), Buck Huston (Philip Brown), and Jacob Foster (Darnell Williams), and woos Tess Wilder (Catherine Hickland). Also, Lorraine Hawkins (Maggie Rush), newly arrived from Corinth, tries to meddle with Angie and Jacob's relationship.

This show was so different from the shows that had existed since forever. I loved those shows & I loved this show. Short run, but it was all an experice. 25 years later, I see what they were trying to do. Unfortunately by that point & the reboot ABC was done. This was a fun two years. Thank you all who participated!

Don't think me greedy, but any episodes of The City online is a massive gift to the soap community. Any chance you have others you can upload?

Thank you for sharing - this show seems impossible to find 😩 but takes me back, I loved it growing up. You wouldn’t happen to have more/knew where to get it? Would love to relive it ☺️

I know I did keep a few episodes from that era, but I don’t know specifically which months. I have not watched those tapes since the original airing. I’ll see if I can dig them up.

The City had an interesting concept, just not well executed. It was like if Melrose Place and The Real World Season 1 had a kid and that kid married a soap opera.

This show was pretty good. But it certainly could have had a way better opening and definitely could have had a much much better theme song. This 1 wasn't all that great.

Agreed, the theme was disappointing even by 1995 standards. The photo collage was a cool and an “edgy” update to an old concept, but the execution was misguided. It presented the characters as happy friends living in NYC instead of setting up any actual character traits. It seemed more appropriate for a sitcom.

Someone on here did a fake opening of the show which was clips from the show, promos and featured new characters. It's definitely more soapy than this opening.

@@caderuse4596 The theme wasn't bad, it just seemed more like something you'd see on a WB primetime show.
