The Chute! 2018 Toyota Tacoma .... The scariest trail feature I've ever done!
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Finally got a chance to try and take my 2018 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 up the famous "Chute" at Sand Hollow State Park in Utah. Once you are up on the rock, all you see is sky and your spotters voice. Definitely a clincher but feels so good to conquer this trail feature.
Truck Specs:

Icon Stage 3 Suspension
33" Falken M/T Wild Peak Tires
17" Black Rhino Reno Beadlock wheels

Love the stripes on the bed. They give the truck a retro look. I miss my old 96 pickup.

No. Because stupid people with no skill will try it and hurt themselves or others. Huge liability.
Now that’s a reason for a 4*4. I see them used mostly for ferrying children around south west London.
A very beautiful car, a good driver but above all a rock with lines every few centimeters that did not let the wheels lose traction for a second. With this rock climbing is a game.
My first time in Nevada almost 50 years ago I visited the Valley of Fire. Three kids in a jeep with a rollbar tried an impossible climb, rolled the jeep and all three were killed. I didn't see the accident, just the bloody aftermath. Truly horrible!

why don't you find a person posting a pic of their fancy dinner and tell him about a time when someone choked to death?

It’s really bloody impressive that the car can get up that , I have too much mechanical sympathy for my car to do that to it.
I get the fascination with having a powerful truck. I used to always drive lowered sporty hatchbacks here in the UK but as soon as I got a powerful big car I can never go back. I feel like I can survive a zombie apocalypse in my big car. Just need rations and a gun and I'm all set.

Wow! Top notch driving skills and that Taco for life! 🌮 🌮🌮🤞😎👍🏻
4 comments: 1. The camera-man did an excellent job. 2. This looks steeper in the video than what it really is. 3. The driver did a good job. 4. I was once fascinated by doing such off-roading activities as well until I realized it is pointless.

life is pointless . what's your point?

Proving your point! I used to do this kind of activity with my FJ80 in Moab and in CO mountains but all of a sudden it hit me! What the hell for! Why? Who cares? It is not like I did it, the car did. 😄 The FJ80 sits in my driveway and collects dust now.

Dang! That's impressive! Price of failure could of been pretty high! Balls of Steel!
That was skillfully executed 👍🏼
All outdoor cool shit is always in Utah.

Kick ass bro love it I need to bring my Tacoma 4x4 here

"I love what ya do for me....TOYOTA!!"
Had a 2001 reg cab short box tacoma on 35s It would keep up with the Jeeps no problem. There’s a reason they use so many Toyota parts in custom rock crawler builds. I’ve had 4 Tacoma’s and went to a full size truck. I miss my tacos
Louisiana here...what is a rock? What is elevation? Is that like deep mud?

Junk compared to Gen2
@peterhoma6385
2 жыл бұрын
I have owned 1991 Toyota truck 4x4 with 22RE motor I’ve also owned , Gen1 and gen2 Tacomas & now own A 2021 Gen3 TRD OR 4x4 there is nothing “junk” about it as a matter of fact it’s the best built Tacoma to date , hardware shared with Hilux like rear axle and diff which is 8.75 inch vs the little 8 inch diff you get in gen2 Tacoma , transfer case , hubs, spindles etc. it’s smoother than Gen2 , more refined I’m getting 23-24 mpg with this Gen3 and that with a 32inch tall tire vs 18-19 mpg I use to get with Gen2 , much quieter , way better interior , Gen2 came with a 3.73 rears Gen3 comes with 3.91 rears , MTS, Crawl Control which has saved my ass a few times in some real bad off road situations. I don’t see how Gen3 is junk ? I live in the hills the BS about gear hunting that few people complain about I haven’t experienced any of that just like any automatic trans , I mean any automatic trans will down shift going up hills , not sure what the hype is all about , I test drove the canyon with 8 spd and ranger with the 10 spd I found they down shift more gears than the Tacoma did in the hills , ranger would down shift sometimes 3-4 gears , same with canyon , where the Tacoma down shifted 1 gear and it does hold gears in the hills well I drive and tow in the hills daily !

@@peterhoma6385 similar ownership different experience I guess. I've had a 72 with 20R MT, 74 with 22R MT, 09 with 4.0 AT and now an 18 with 3.5 AT. Our milage with 2nd and 3rd is reversed in my case. My (factory) 09 diff would lock like a Detroit style, in 2 or 4WD. Having to be in 4L with the 18 is useless. I'm in ND an we usually get 8 months of winter, were 2WD and diff lock would preform great at stop signs while saving gas and wear n tear. I experience the down shifting when I have anything in tow, if I try to get above 65mph. In fact I bought my 19 camper purposely at half the rated tounge and pull weight, just cause I'm safety and preventive maintenance conscious. Unless I'm downhill with tail wind she'll constantly shift 3,4,3,4. I even had the transmission shift memory reset at dealership, didn't help. Sure I could seek a tune like OV er whatever they currently have, but that's ridiculous. I guess in the end we all got different experiences n perspectives. You know, before my 72 Hilux I was a chevy guy and even though this 18 is a pile compared to my 09, I'll never go back. Tells ya something bout chevy from my perspective eh. Glad your having goodluck with yours. I will recommend my bumper and tires though. Bumper www.bumperonly.com/collections/fab-fours-premium-toyota-tacoma-front-bumpers/products/fabfours-truck-front-winch-bumper-2016-toyota-tacoma-tt16-b3650-1 Tires I run Hankook Dynapro ATM load range E. Do you have anything else to do?
What the truck is wrong with people?
Do you think a very similarly setup tacoma but with stock gearing would have the same ability to slow crawl the chute?
@oldrcrich

I'm sure with the stock gearing it would be fine but I will say having 5:29's on 33's provides more confidence :).

I have 33's but still have stock gearing (manual transmission). Pretty gutless, but I'm not a dragracer. I have to go to 4 Lo almost every time I offroad, but that said, I can go anywhere. Have climbed Wipe-out Hill, Hell's gate, Launchpad, and multiple other steep obstacles. Hoping to hit the Chute in January!
Respect
Did it once in my 65' Corvair.
Nice man.
