I am now 51. I have loved The Church since 1984, when I first heard their song on San Francisco's alt radio station. I went back to their earlier albums, spent my 1980s adolescence impressed and besotted with their music. At 17, I was inspired by their lyrics. My twin sister was playing them on her alt radio college radio show at sixteen. I saw them live in California when I was 18, and I spent decades still in love with their music. Fast forward to 2022, my 51-year-old twin and her boyfriend (another alt radio dj way back when) ran into Steve on a coastal walk near Sydney. Kismet! The love for this music and celebration of Steve's music continues!

Man alive, is there any other Australian band who releases consistently tripleA music decade after decade? I just keep buying their records. I remember walking around the Yarra River in Melbourne when the Commonwealth Games were on and Under the Milky Way came on and it was like taking LSD. My darling son, who passed away, always bought the CD of musicians he admired, so they got their reward for their genius, and I do the same. I ordered the CD so I can listen to Hypnogogue on youtube with a clear conscience. And I'm doing it now. Thank you Church for making the world a better place.

I listened to this song and watched the video to go with the song a year ago. I was just happy that The Church was moving forward and making new music and enjoyed the song and video for what my first impression was. There was alot of mystery trying to figure out what this mini-movie was hinting at. Then came 2 songs that seemed like unrelated pieces of a puzzle...until I got the album and found that Hypnogoue is a concept album and somehow this whole album tells a story. Incredibly ambitous and very good. Then about 9 months later I witness The Church concert live and Steve Kilbey tells the story of a down on his luck, drug-addled post-pop star that lives in Antarctica in the year 2054 that is intending to ungo a think-tank mind-altering process to help him write more songs. Sound like an amazing idea...or is it? Or did Steve Kilbey actually already undergo this process and write not only The Hypnogogue, but also wrote the book Eros Zeta & the Hypnogoue and another 15 track soundtrack album to go with the book! When listened to and absorbed as a whole with the 2 albums & the book it is not only THE most ambitous work that The Church have ever done, but with the new configuration of the band it is now obvious to me that this recent chapter in the band's history is up there with their best.

Not that I've hung banners or taken orders, but rather assuming I were joining a band's military, I concur it would be The Church (whether 2022). The melody in the video is wonderful, the video lovely, and SK's voice and bass sound great. The Church's retrospective Deep in the Shallows had me back in your ranks again whenever I craved the steady psychedelia that your boys create. As a magnificent shock, I was glad to find the plan of your 1981 record, presently on Bandcamp (and somewhere else). It confirmed that Mr. Kilbey is back in business, and even better, that he was never gone in the first place. Streaming his Instagram feed put me in the quest state because nothing else but The Church proves your brand of mystery and, sometimes, hellfire. Keep us posted, gentlemen, but remember your wear when you leave. Like generally, soon.

Thankful to God for music, its been a true healer in my life.
Steve still producing masterpieces after 40+ years. Quite impressive.
sublime Steve, Tim, Ian love this evolution, look forward to catching ou in Melbourne town, masterful on all levels, great cinema concept
Great job!!! both in the musical aspect and in the visual ... I love it!!!!
goosebumps.........................
Giant and brilliant The Church!!
Stunning work all around - I was not at all expecting something that ornate and immersive. Beautiful images and music - well done everyone on this!
Know this group from my youth . Brilliant track.
brave music by a band that has nothing to prove to anyone. well done, lads

Yes! You either get it or you don't... genius music!
Fantastic. Chills…!
Coming back to this song, it seems even more relevant now. Live everyone is under a dream, has been dragged into a state of hypnosis while the strength they once had which once characterised our nation is sucked dry by a lie. We truly have been through the great reset going all the way back to the dream time. At least that's what I see
Steve Kilbey is truly a Prismatic Enigma = The Church never disappoint me, ever.
Like a great big warm sonic hug from an old friend!
Still the best band in the world. Wowsers!
Fantastic, fascinating video! Also, I can't keep waiting for the new album of The Church!
This album came out of nowhere for me. At first listen, it feels like what MGMT would make if they grew up and stopped f***ing around.
Yep. They still sound fabulous.....it's like dreaming.
one of the best bands ever!!!

When listened to and absorbed as a whole with the 2 albums & the book it is not only THE most ambitous work that The Church have ever done, but with the new configuration of the band it is now obvious to me that this recent chapter in the band's history is up there with their best.
... marvelous..., thank you!!! 🎶💜
The Church has always been a place in our hearts where love prevails over the enemy.
Amazing song and video 👏
I've always loved The Church. If I had to pick three albums from a single band as my Desert Island Discs I would pick: Starfish Gold Afternoon Fix Priest = Aura Each one is a masterpiece with its own particular character.

Very cool! 👏😎 Thank you

Caray! Que explicación tan enriquecedora. Gracias. Saludos desde BCN😉👍🏼
This is a track that would have fit nicely on the Priest = Aura LP... some very similar vibes. Classic Church.
Wow! Farking brilliant! So nice to see all of you guys. Directed by Bandit and Caino…. Now we know what you’ve been working on 🤘Thanks so much for your passion and continued contribution to the arts!!! Thank you all for keeping the church rocking after 40 years🙏🛐
This is so beautiful guys well done on another masterpiece ..So stunning and mesmerizing xxx See you Sunday guys xxxx
Steve still has the velvet voice. I've loved them since 1984
Insulated guitars, reptilian bass... the wait for new material was so worth it. The Church as a quintet is a new twist.
I’m really enjoy8n* this new song, and now a cool video too.
amazing track 💥
Thanks for your music. It is very important to me.
Absolutely brilliant, on all levels!
I like it when the old guard sound fresh and new!!! And psychedelic.
Incredible! Lost for words.
Excellent. They are timeless.
They keep moving and creating the church by far the band that is into music on their own terms not the trendy junk that is ramed down your throat in America they are the music love all 26 or is 27 album's
Awesome!!!
Wow. Wasn't a huge fan of the last album, but THIS... this is excellent! Can't wait to hear the whole album!
Saw them perform this earlier this year in Phoenix, they sounded fantastic, the stand-in drummer killed it. This version sounds a little different than the live version. Great song, looking forward to the album.

That was excellent! I have been a fan of The Church since the early '80's and I have never heard a bad Church song.
Unjustly slept on, amazing.
They've come a long way since that unguarded moment a lifetime ago.
Fantastic clip and song.
Brilliant as always, doesn't surprise me when it comes to these guys. The track and imagery, very nice. ⭐
After many, many years, Finally, your back!!!!!!!!! When I say "after" and "many" I don't mean years; actually decades...
This grows on you … the intensity . Even with a different lineup it’s still the church … a la Pink which one is … hah …. But Jeffrey Cain makes a great difference he knows the sound and history and yet is progressive . Perfect add … it’s like the Isidore awesomeness added in . Tim sounds great . Ian rocks , welcome Ashley … keep rocking in the wasted world !!! Light is essential
Psicodelia oscura, te envuelve y te engulle conforme avanza la cancion. Una obra de arte!!
Stunning as always. Great music 👏🏻
Here for the audio moreso than video. An unexpected surprise in my KZread feed today. Australia's Marillion, really. Led by a Roger Waters type with an occasional Robert Smith mood.
Great video and wonderful song! Thanks for continuing to make great new music! Looking forward to the album! (also: Nice haircut, Steve! Looking good!)
