This is a truly great song deserving of every accolade. This band was way ahead of its time. Only had Heyday for two weeks back in '86 and it got stolen outta my car. Never developed a relationship with this song... Now, I am reacquainting myself with an old lover. Brilliant!

Imagine the satisfaction that must come from penning a song so mercurial, so shimmering and so melodicly perfect. I'm from Ireland, but this beauty transports me to an empty beach in Australia

Great video, one of my favorite tunes off HEYDAY. Reminds of a favorite Doctor Who quote (the Matt Smith era): 'Every story has a beginning, a middle and an end. Just not necessarily in that order.' "Already Yesterday," indeed. Trust our favorite Aussies to get the Doctor's point across before he even thought of it Well... from our perspective. Thanks for posting, stevekilbey2.

This is one of my favorite Church songs, and I'm pleasantly surprised that they made this video, as the song is not as well-known as their singles. This song is from probably one of their top 3 albums (IMHO) "Heyday". Thanks for posting!

+Bobainthome - I agree, I am a straght man however caught onto his look in 85 or so. Sort of a male Chrissy Hynde. Admittedly I tried to copy that look for a while in the 80s. I saw him live on a solo show in 2004 or something. Met him and he looked like he should be my older brother or something. Got him to sign my Art Attack LP. As it happens we still look similar in old age for better or worse, still got the long hair and sometimes grey beard. Too bad he abandoned the band. Used to think he did all the cool guitar parts in the Church (part of which is true) but Peter as it turns out is the soul of the guitar parts in it. Bless both of them. And Tim Powles who brought them back to life for those wonderful albums in the 90s.

This was on the original version of the Church's collected video singles, but for some reason was cut off "Jokes Magic and Souvenirs". I never understood why. Sure, they added a couple more tracks to JM&S but why did they cut this? I'll never understand.

amazing record. I still am amazed at the beauty and lyrical accomplishment of it - i have owned several copies since 1986.... but can anyone upload a decent sounding copy ? this is awful ..... it ruins the enjoyment of an amazing piece of work - In any case, it's a record which still amazes me.
