The Chosen One: The Story of J.T. Thomas - Survivor: Tocantins

J.T. Thomas. The first ever perfect game of Survivor was played by him at a time when it was thought to be nigh impossible. How does one receive no votes against themselves while playing no idols and getting every juror's vote? Let's find out.

Yes, Tom Westman, Yul Kwon, Parvati Shallow, Todd Herzog, Brian Heidik and Richard Hatch played more impressive winning games than J.T. J.T. is okay. He's a great social winner, but strategically speaking, he needed someone like Stephen to help maneuver through the game.

In HvV JT took a huge risk we can say it was a dumb move because we knew more at that point than he. He was do focused on Parvarti (for good reason) that he didn't stop to question Russell, because nobody saw Samoa yet. We knew everything going on at the villains tribe, but JT didn't. So JT tried to play the hero and save Russell. It blew up in his face, but had it worked it would've been legendary for different reasons.

I don’t get the JT slander I’ve seen on other platforms. Yes, his move in giving Russell the idol was dumb, but it could have easily been one of the greatest survivor moves ever if it worked and he did have the right idea to try to get rid of Parvati plus no one had seen Samoa at that point. There was also a lot of pressure on him to live up to his title bc he did set the bar so high as Tocantins perfect game player and golden boy. For me, he was more true to himself in Tocantins and I feel like he could have gotten further in HvV if he didn’t play like a villain but I do understand why he did choose to switch how he played the game. He’s definitely a genuine person as well so I also don’t get why people say he’s very fake. Overall, anyone not just JT coming back to play the game after winning do have this unnecessary standard set by people to live up to.

JT has this charisma that makes me think he'd still win even without Steven, but I wonder if that's really true. Steven was a pretty good meat shield for JT, and his presence let everyone be ok with not getting upset at some of JT's moves lol. Sure, Steven tries to betray JT and only doesn't because circumstances stop him, but overall him and JT made a good team. Steven also didn't try that hard to actually get rid of JT, he talked about it but never really tried that hard, which I've always found interesting. Would he have voted JT out if JT hadn't won immunity, maybe, but I'm not actually sure he'd get over the guilt, if that makes sense lol. Anyway, while JT was amazing this season, I still feel like finding someone he could trust really helped him in the long run. Makes me wonder how things would turn out if he and Steven were in a Survivors pair season or something lol.

Erin her question was dumb. What Stephen did was also what Jt did, but she acting like jt didn't blindside other people. But that's how the game is played, you blindside people. If those people are on jury because of you , then that means you deserve to win.

Not even a little. Spencer didn't tell JT he was gay because he feared that JT would be homophobic. JT wanted him out (without knowing his sexuality) because of his lowsy work ethic and being terrible at challenges. The only time JT was even remotely rude to Spencer was when he told Spencer that he was on the chopping block
