My family lived in the Bukowina as Settlers under Maria Theresa for 100 years or more. German Swabians. The liberal ideals have never ever left us. The experience shaped us forever. We are forever part of Ukraine, Moldova, Romania. And Germanic. We will never forget this fundamental part of our history.
...no borders for music...goes directly in your soul.
Wonderful music coming from Heaven!! Its like coming from the mountains of my country. Jews, Greeks, Balkans are the beauty minorities in a cruel world. Thank you for miraculus music

music of my childhood and adolescence - I grew up in Chernavtsy - the capital of Bukovina - were then the best of times, and when I listen to music I remember best about. Sounds of soul and spirit, and nature. In the big city, we lose a lot - especially the connection with nature, we lose the soul This music takes us back to a natural state of

Fabulous Klezmer Music and inspires me to Balkan Dance with spirit and soul!
Well, I am from Spain (Mediterranean side) and this music helps me to get the boold circulating again after hours of study. Was looking for the Bukovina hit (you know, the disco theme) and found this. Really nice

N-oi uita vreodată, dulce Bucovină, Geniu-ţi romantic, munţii în lumină, Văile în flori, Râuri resăltânde printre stânce nante, Apele lucinde-n dalbe diamante Peste câmpii-n zori. Mână doru-i tainic colo, înspre tine, Ochiul îmi sclipeşte, genele-mi sunt pline, Inima mi-i grea; Astfel totdeauna, când gândesc la tine, Sufletul mi-apasă nouri de suspine, Bucovina mea! Incredible music for a lot of situations. I was cleaning the house when I listed to your music. You managed to take me to a mini dance even though I did not have that much time today. Go on!
music for the souls..soft and sweet
What a wonderful album! Absolutely stunning klezmer music, played with incredible soul and skill.
They have soul, feeling, not just a lot of well-intended squeaks and noise.
Great and thanks from Switzerland.....

true music to let your soul live. A full range of emotion through music.
Bravo pour cette interprétation étincelante ! et merci encore pour ce qu'apporte à nous mélomanes européens cette musique Klezmer si particulière...
Fabulous!
I love Irish rebel music i.e Wolfe Tones and somehow it always leads me on to Klezmer music. Also Baltic States traditional (esp Latvian revolutionary) music is very similar to some of the Irish rebel music. I 💚 Klezmer 🕎
wonderful distress tolerance activity! great for emotional regulation. thank you.
I also love it.
Sounds so familiar, like music from Balkans. Cheers from Serbia

Ah, shades of Enescu's Romanian Rhapsody.

Absolutely stunning album. Incredibly beautiful and soothing for the soul.
!mazeltov!

Ah, the lost homelands of Bukovina,of Bessarabia, of Moldavia and Transnistria… the dreams and musical sounds and souls of our parents.
This is one of those albums where every piece manages to convince me that it's my favourite one while it's playing, but then the next one comes...

+tsalakomeno treno This music does sound more Greek than anything else, especially the bit starting at 8:29 -- indistinguishable from a popular Greek song the name of which escapes me. Wonder how that came to be...

I know that lots of Sefardic tunes were adopted to greek words; in fact i was at a concert of sefardic music from Thesalonika last night and several of the songs they played have versions in Greek and in Ladino. Sefardic and Ashkenazi Jews intermixed lots in the Ottoman empire/ Istanbul, whose first major influx of Jews were Sefards escaping Spain in 1491, went on to become a major klezmer centre- so that influence could also explain these similarities (not to disagree with anything you've written, just adding)

A recent book Klezmer: Music, History and Memory has a chapter about the connection between Greek and Klezmer music via the trade between Moldavia and Istanbul. Very interesting stuff!

@@blakebennett5358 absolute spot on !!! Jews from all over the planet emigrated to Thessaloniki in the 15th century and remained there for nearly 5 centuries (unfortunately until the WW2). Most of the time they populated more than 50% of the whole city population. This incredible fusion of cultures, customs, languages, music, art accommodated Thessaloniki to become this unbelievable, inclusive of all, progressive city in the Balkans. What a fascinating era that must have been! Have a look in this link, it is full of real historic details and information en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_Jews_in_Thessaloniki
