The Chi Ceti Incident or The Battle of Chi Ceti, whatever you prefer to call it, was a small confrontation that took place in the system of the same name, during the beginning of the Human - Covenant conflict.
In this battle two ships faced each other: the UNSC Commonwealth, a heavy frigate commanded by Captain Wallace; and, the Implacable, a Covenant light cruiser. A fairly discreet combat, but of enormous relevance to the conflict in general.
Derived from 3 main reasons: it was the first battle of the SPARTAN II against the Covenant using their MJOLNIR armor, it caused the first of their casualties among their ranks and allowed them to discover energy shield technology on enemy ships.
