I have lists of things to pack in which container (personal bag, carry-on). I photocopy it with every trip and then pick and choose what I need for that trip and cross off the items as they’re packed. It works for me.

Lots of great reminders! I have 3 spreadsheets: 1 for my packing list that I adapt for each specific trip, 1 with a list of things to do before I leave the house, and 1 with an itinerary of my trip to help with booking rides or tours and planning clothing needs. I do not shut off my fridge or freezer as there are foods that will still be good when I get home, but I do turn off my router and unplug small appliances and my computer. I am in southern Ontario and I don't have AC, but I turn the heat down in the winter and keep the furnace fan circulating when I'm away. I don't turn off the water since my hi-efficiency furnace uses water, but I do turn the water heater temp down to "Vac". As you say, lists are great but the main thing to remember is to check them! :)

Absolutely! Your approach with multiple spreadsheets sounds super organized and efficient-it's like you've got everything under control down to the last detail. 📊 Turning off appliances and adjusting your home settings is smart, helping to save on energy while you're away. Love how thorough you are with your preparations! Safe travels on your next adventure, and may your lists always serve you well! ✈️🌍

Great advice Gregor as always . Also when checking your passport make sure you have plenty of valid date on your passport before expiry as some European countries require you have so many months remaining on your passport AFTER your return home date.

Thanks for sharing your must-haves. And one big one for me that you mentioned is sleeping pills. Are earplugs for sleeping? 😴💤

@GregorBrown I usually stay away from ear plugs as they're uncomfortable for me. Just big earphones, specifically the Sony XM4's. Very comfortable. Also a battery bank. Happy to meet a fellow wanderer. New sub!

You should have many clothes checklists for clothes - Fall, Winter, Hot, Cruise, side trip, weekend, two weeks, european (need a smaller carry on for most airlines) camping or hiking along the way - etc. And then when you leave remind yourself you're not traveling to the Moon - and you an buy what you forgot
