Hey Linus... finally... after several years of HDR being on market, you look into this topic. I highly recommend you do an expenatory video about HDR for PC. There is tons of interesting topics. For example, first thing DP vs. HDMI specifications. (4k@120Hz with HDR on max on DP 2.1, only 60Hz @4k with HDR for HDMI). Then compare it to what companies advertise (144Hz @4k, but only overclocked which means your display brightness will be dimmed, which is super annoying for HDR screens and makes the point of HDR useless). Then, how do you play 120Hz/144Hz @4K? Only a few games will be optimized enough where this is possible. Then, have fun digging into HDR support on Windows 10, with 2 screens, with 2 different resolutions and 2 different VESA HDR standards (let's say, HDR 1000 @4k and HDR 600 @2k) then play 2 videos with HDR content on both screens and change from windowed to full screen and back. Well, maybe you don't want to waste yourself and you don't dig into the HDR topic :D

Just from what I've seen in person, HDR 400 is good enough for most people, especially at an entry level cost, and HDR 600 is great for enthusiasts all around. HDR 1000 is nice, but can be way too much sometimes, especially when I'm not trying to blind myself when gaming/ watching things in the dark. Just my opinion of course, and I'm sure there's a million reasons why I'm actually wrong!

That's not how it works though. Real life is not too bright or too dim. Our eyes change and adjust as needed. So when you create a cg image it's your job to make it correct. If you make the outside bright what happens if I focus on it? You'd be stopping my eyes from adjusting to the bright light because the lightest pixels would be clipped. They'd be gone, all turned to white. Your eye could no longer adjust because it's physically not present any more. You can't get it back by closing your eyes a little, it's just gone.

I could've gone for something else but for less than £300, it seemed like a good deal. The downside to this particular model is that it can't do Freesync with HDR turned on but seeing how it's only a HDR 400, it doesn't bother me that much.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding HDR for a display. I have a photography background so it's possible I'm seeing the same words but means different things when it comes to delivery and creating imagery. He compliments one screen for having blinding highlights while having detail in the shadows. But I thought the main purpose of HDR was to lower the exposure of highlights, ex) making a white sky blue by underexposing, while increasing the exposure of shadows. In photographs/illustrations you typically have to edit/color correct or bracket two to three photos together to achieve this. This actually lowers contrast but provides much more vibrant colors.

Yesss...Gotta set it to 20, gosh! And if you're using HDMI, gotta look out for the HDMI black level setting. (Although HDR support over HDMI is limited anyway, so yeah)

Sadly on that line of Samsung monitors, any setting besides 13 looks like complete garbage. 12 and below washes out hard and causes off-color blacks like blueish or greenish blacks, and above 14 crushes the blacks heavily.

It's pretty easy. See the thumbs down icon just below the video to the right? You just have to click that.

I did, but not because I'm an asshole or a troll, I've been watching Linus for years and love his videos, but I just dislike for that dumb aspect ratio. So don't put me on the same bag as trolls or assholes lol.

Maybe people disliked the video when they watched the first 30 seconds or less of the video? Think before you write.
