The 3.4 is actually zero interference so if you snap a belt its no big deal. Good video as always!

Yep I bought a tacoma with a broke belt. Owner thought the motor was trashed. Put a new belt on it and drove for years after that.

@@justinmatthewl same thing happened to me I almost felt guilty when I drove the truck :)..
Just as a heads up, that 3.4 is supposed to get a dual electrode spark plug. The 3.4 uses a waste spark ignition ignition system. The plugs fire on the exhaust stroke too when the cylinder that they are paired with is on it's compression stroke. Since the plugs fire twice as often, the dual prong makes them last as long as a single prong that is not installed in a waste spark application. Also, It's a non-interference engine, so pistons cant kiss valves in the event that the timing belt snaps
I know this video will be good because its Mike.

I think your suppose to use twin prong spark plugs on the 3.4 but I’ve heard guys say it doesn’t matter… there is a sticker from Toyota on the engine… love the build so far

OE plugs from the dealer are only a buck and some change more than the NGK Type R plugs.. I love NGK but you only get 17K miles before they have to be changed out. OE plugs are still like new at a 100k.. I just changed the factory plugs in my 2005 4runner 3 yrs ago at 235k. I know they was original because i got my rug from an old couple that bought it new and always serviced at a toyota dealership. The My Toyota Record shows they was never changed out! I gained 2 extra miles per gallon with the new plugs if that says anything about the OE plugs!
This Tacoma has quickly become my favorite truck on the channel! I think you should keep this one, Good budget build
I don't mind waiting a few weeks for a new video because Mike always delivers!!
I like that you work on vehicles that us everyday folk would consider buying and building. Too many channels go to the extreme where it’s not even realistic unless you have a full blow fab shop. Keep it up

ha! im just a normal folk anyway lol
Ive really started to dive into working on my own truck because of these videos. I like how you leave in the little mistakes here and there because it makes it seem so much more doable for us non mechanically inclined haha
This motor is non interference which means if the timing belt breaks you actually won’t contact valves which is nie but definitely still don’t want that breaking on you. I just did my timing belt on my motor! Keep up the good work!
I’ve also heard that the oem spark plugs on these motors make a little bit of a difference over the NGK brand. Specifically for this Toyota motor. Something with the dual electrode keeps it burning the fuel more efficiently

3 coils for all 6 cylinders is why Toyota recommended Twins should be used for optimal spark/performance
Good thing about the 5VZFE it’s non interference so you wouldn’t have to worry about bending any valves 😊
The 5VZ is such a beast you can just let the timing belt uninstall itself and the valves won't meet the pistons.
the jeep timing chain should actually be replaced at some point, they stretch out eventually. just got done doing a 4.2 in my friends CJ and the chain was so sloppy it was eating a hole in the cover
Replace the spark plugs you put in with dual electrode. That’s what these engines call for
Don't know if you're a "by the book" guy but there is a sticker in the engine bay saying to use dual electrode plugs like the ones you pulled. Just an FYI. Love the vids man keep it up!
Like the videos Mike. Always good to see someone figure things out instead of taking it somewhere to get done. Solid entertainment too. Thanks for the vids!
Fantastic job, man. Love watching your videos. Looking forward to the next one.
I have the same wheels on my magnetic grey F150. I did take a hole saw cut out the Rocktrix logo and epoxied in some custom ones a friend 3D printed. Raptor caps will also work
Timing chains break, tensioners break, it’s a lot easier to change a belt than a chain. Both of my roommates had their timing chains break before 170k miles. One was a Colorado, the other was a Cobalt.
Great video to watch, just like back in the day watching truckin' on the weekends! Making a complex task so easy and simple to do is probably the best thing to watch on KZread! Comes in handy for those who try and have troubleshooting similar tasks of there own with this model and make so thank you on behalf of those who need guidance! Great sound effects and nice cowboy hat! Lol keep these cool videos coming partner! Definitely enjoying the content! 💯🏁
Good work Mike. Lots accomplished!
That wheel/tire combo is slick! Can't wait for the next episode!
Great content as always! Keep'em coming Mike!!!!
I’d like to thank this channel for reminding me to blast 90s jams while I’m working on my bikes.

Great video dude, decided to get the same wheels on mine after this video. Just finished up putting new suspension on with a 3 inch lift and they will be the cherry on top. The money pit is deep over here.
Looking forward to this build! It's gonna be sick

I had a set of rocktrix wheels on my old jk and the wheels were the best part of the jeep. The fit and finish was awesome and they actually had great customer service when i went to order a 5th but they were out of stock on their site. They balanced well with my MT's, looked awesome, and like you mentioned were by far the cheapest thing available.
Great progress i am thinking about picking up a 98 4runner cheap this series is an inspiration
Dude keep it up! Killing it
Another great video! Well done mate!
Don’t sleep on the M12 Fuel Stubby. It gets into tight spaces and can still pull a bulls nuts off. It’s great for engine work as well lol. Still have my M18 but rarely does it need to come out of its drawer. Just use a 4,5, or 6.0 batt on it and you’ll see what I mean .
Love it! Keep ‘em coming!

I am in Vacaville. Get the proper adapter and I have nitrogen and we can re charge those shocks.

No Brewskies on this one? lol... The truck is looking good!!
I actually bought the OEM spark plugs for my brother, same engine V6, I got 6 and it costed me $15 lol Also I think NGK spark plugs you should not put anti seize
Gettin work done Mike! Supercharger in the future??
Supercharge it especially since you got a 3.4 engine the way it sounds with the supercharge is the best 💯
Perfecto el trabajo,no seria conveniente cambiar las correas exteriores o auxilisres? Excelente video ,saludos👏👏👏👏👍🍻
“Okay they are not that much lighter” 😂😂

3.4 zero interference !
What color painting the body? Toyota Orange with black bumpers and flares would be nice. Can't believe a bit of work and those dampeners look new.
If you really wanted to do it the easy you could of just unbolted the brake lines and pull the axle shafts out about 2-3 inches to get the third member out . I’ve done it without fully removing them . Just a tip

@@mikes4x4garage I think you did the right thing by leaving the leaf packs alone . It is sitting pretty nice they way it is !
Fun fact. The timing chains on the 4.0 jeep motor can fail and cause a mess. Ask me how I know😅. They are both non-interference motors though.

Your shocks are to long is what caused the bracket to crack the dont compress far enough
The différence between chain and timing belt ? The money you spend on replace the timing belt kit ! Almost 40% of the car builder's benefit come from parts and repairs...
