    It would be great if short lines like this could tie in a few passenger cars to ride along with the fright service. A whole lot of us have nothing to do and would really enjoy this

    Neat idea....And added revenue.....it be cool if they run these mixed freight &PASSENGERS trains so can lower the freight costs....to help bring more online freight Customers....There are a lot of opportunities for RAILWAYS transloads facilities Grants to build these facilities m..Be cool if they Share this Corridor with bikes for a $3100 per mile for a railway/bike path....

    For a start, how can anyone not care about a line with such a great name? I know some people have a downer on G&W lines because they all look the same, but they also always look well cared for, and that's surely very encouraging. And interesting power and beautiful scenery.

    The G & W paint scheme is nice however it would have been nice for the short lines they own to have their own color scheme.

    @@WestPac-ny9vi I would imagine its for logistics, so that they change locomotives from one location to another with only minimal repainting required if the transfer is permanent 🤔

    Awesome video of the SHORT LINES! I live 5 minutes from our local short line and I go every day to my father-in-law's house to watch it. I may be 50 years old but it still makes me feel like a kid and never gets old. Our local short line is headed up by an SW2 called DELMARVA CENTRAL. Thanks for sharing and I've definitely become a BIG fan of your channel.

    Nice video Drayton. A little history…. That is the CoG “C” line. The division connection was at Cedartown GA. The CoG Cedartown turntable is the one now in use at TVRM’s East Chattanooga yard. Also, two of the coaches on the steam train are former CoG cars, 906 and 907. They were built for the CoG trains “Nancy Hanks” and “Man O’ War”. The 906 was a Jim Crow era car.

    Two points if I may. If it weren’t for the G&W this line and others like it probably would not exist. Number2, we can thank them for maintaining these old generation engines and keeping them running so that we can enjoy first and second generation power

    I've lived in LaFayette, GA for about 19 years, since I was like 2. I remember seeing these trains many times while on daily commutes with my parents or later on my own, was always something I enjoyed watching. One of my favorite parts is in LaFayette, 102 has been sitting there for years to enjoy seeing, though it's still sad that the locomotive was retired and left to sit

    I remember at one point they actually owned the only railroad that crossed the Mexico-Guatemala border, but the tracks were in such poor shape and they did nothing about people riding the trains to illegally cross the border to the point where the Mexican authorities had actually revoked their operating charter. Imagine being so bad that Mexico doesn't want your operations lmao

    If I could give y'all a recommendation, go to Caney Fork & Western it's a short line running 61 miles from Tullahoma, TN to Sparta, TN. Their bright green engines are something to see

    Thank you for documenting Chattooga & Chickamauga Railroad. This is a neat little railroad. That transfer with the Norfolk Southern was a quick and easy operation. Does the transfer always work that smoothly every time the two railroads transfer cars?     Watching this absolutely hit me with a wave of nostalgia. I grew up right off Lytle Road, and every Saturday morning as a kid when we heard that deep whistle of the 610 or that higher pitch of the 4501, you bet my mom drug me out of bed to go train chasing. My grandmother lived one house down from the dead end that led to the tracks right before the Chickamauga stop, so we always ended up there for our Saturday visit after! Seeing McFarland Gap, the crossing right there at the back entrance to the Battlefield, even that old turn of the century wooden house were memories caught on film. Thank you so SO much for making a video about this line! It's a little taste of home.

    7:08 a very short siding, in many stations in Thailand. Sidings are longer (about 1 kilometers long at least) and is used primarily to 'reverse' the train (since almost all Diesels here are all flatnose European style dual cab cab units.)

    The way that front porch is set up with those large windows on either side of the door it looks like It used to be a general store instead of a house...at least that's always the impression I got looking at the place as I've seen quite a few old stores set up the same way.

    We rode the train from the Chattanooga station to the roundhouse and back thos summer. It was interesting to see them still operating a turn table. This year we're trying to go back to ride it to Chickamauga and explore that town. Interesting video, thanks!

    The steps on the 38 are different They appear to be almost vertical. My assumption is they were done this way to give the conductor more room to stand on the bottom step.

    Yes, Southern Railway ordered their GP38-2s with ladder-style steps so that the conductor had room to ride shoves from the step wells.

    I live in Rossville just a few blocks from this line,I see and hear it all the time. I used to live in East Lake just north of Rossville in Chattanooga,tracks ran behind my backyard.I see and hear the NS and TVRM all the time. Got pics and videos of them in my personal collection.

    Went to Chattanooga in July of 2022. I really wish I could’ve seen the C&C running or the TVRM excursion, but a bridge near Summerville, or somewhere down there was washed out and I didn’t get to see any action on that line. I’m still really bummed about it, but I got to see some other stuff in Chattanooga so it wasn’t all too bad.

    Could you make a visit to the Kiamichi Railroad in Hugo Oklahoma? It has a really interesting history and interesting connections to BNSF, UP, KCS and other short lines. Their relationship with BNSF is interesting, sharing a right of way from Madill Oklahoma to Hugo Oklahoma so BNSF can supply coal to a power plant

    Hey brother you should really come up to Wisconsin and document whatever is left of the Wisconsin central I really enjoy all the history and informed you give on your hour videos not many people have the Wisconsin central documented from origins to present day including the great weyauwega train derailment of 1996 which I happen to live through entire town was evacuated and week later residents were allowed to return for pets under the protection of armoured transport and the national guard I really think you would enjoy documenting all that history

    How can nobody care about this? It's a railroad and its just as good as any other. On the plus side, their interchanges can be done really quickly, especially involving one of the Class 1s of the US.

    Don't know why you assume nobody cares about the C&C. The rail line is owned by the State of Georgia and the State D.O.T. has spent millions on track improvement and bridge repair. The line welcomed a new customer a couple of years ago, a plastics maker, that has added tremendously to the revenue traffic. C&C is vital to manufacturers in Walker and Chattooga Counties, Georgia and the local concerns that it serves, care about it a great deal.

    Can you do a video on Wisconsin Central Ltd and how they owned operations in New Zealand? They powered passenger services in the biggest town of NZ. And actually saved Rail Freight and majorities of operations from disappearing. If you need some footage, I have some I can send over from DVD's ETC. Very very intresting. GE was their main power.

    Any news on CCKY 102? GP7 c. 1952. It's been several years since I moved out of the region, but as of 2016 it was still in service.

    102 is out of service (retired), but it still sits in the small yard at their office in Lafayette. Its still in the blue and gray paint.

    Wish they would go up to rome Georgia someday make the excursions longer also bring back the Tennessee Alabama Georgia line back to gadsden Alabama

    NS made sure to pull the line out of the ground between the Summerville area and Rome before they sold the northern end of the line. No way they wanted a short line to have access to the paper mill and power plant in Rome.

    @@cdavid8139 There are still freight cars stored on that line all the way to Lyerly. Plus the power plant runs on natural gas now.

    @@roberthagberg5482 Plant Hammond in Rome was decommissioned a couple of years ago. It is not on natural gas. The line is out of the ground from the yard in Coosa outside of Rome to the Summerville area (Lyerly if you will). Did not know they were storing cars there though. Haven't been through the area in a while.

    4:32 The two locomotives are considerably different. with the front unit is smaller, are the two engines the same?
