I absolutely love Selmar. He is such a great addition to the chateau. The shelter he made for the peahen is so thoughtful. You & Michael make a great team. One person we miss is Marie Wiik. When things get back to normal, she should run the B & B for you. I say move the tree.

Have you thought about trimming the lower branches of the evergreen, so that you have some of the trunk showing, and then building the garden box around it? You'd still get your symmetry but could keep the tree. Plus it would have a bit more shape. Compromise?

Hope Selmar never go love him big time such a sweet personne

If you wait until fall, you can hire someone with a backhoe to dig out the tree and move it to another place on the property. Dig a large hole where you would wish it to go, fertilize/compost in the hole (use Espoma BioTone), then have the equipment dig out the tree and move it. Those types of shrubs do not have deep roots, they have shallow roots that spread out. You should be able to move it, once the weather cools down, and not lose it.

@@pollywog7318 No, they really shouldn't. The issue isn't how hot it is now, it's that it'll soon be hotter. The tree, as big as it is, will need time to settle in and get over it's shock. If it gets hot too quickly, it'll kill it. If you move it in the fall, the temps are lower, the water evaporation is less and the tree has time to settle in and get over it's shock before it takes it's winter snooze. Most growers will say to only move trees in the fall.

Selmar is so kind to have built the shelter for the sweet peahen. Also, as I’ve watched all of The Chateau Diaries from the beginning, it’s been so wonderful to see the names of the patrons at the end of each vlog grow from a few names to so many! 🎉

First the shovel handles, now the peacock shelter!... Selmar (if we ever get back to normal) I hope you realise that you're going to need protection from Stephanie's next female WorkAway volunteers. :P :D :'D

Greetings from one of England’s oldest colonies Newfoundland.Of course we are no longer a colony we did become a Dominion before we agreed to join Canada and we are now their 10th province.I have been watching your channel through the pandemic. I just love it; it’s so bright and cheerful and it always makes me feel good. I am older than your mother, I’ll be 83 in August and I was also a psychiatric nurse. I love gardening though I am not as able to do it as your mothers. I have lived most of my life in an old Victorian house and loved it. I love to watch you decorating. You make it look so so easy. There are a lot of I’s in this comment but I must say watching you living your life in that château completely fills me with joy. By the way,you were so lucky to get that Gardener. I have not caught his name.There is nothing it seems that he can’t do. He just fits into the château. Yours is the only channel where I watch the same video over many times. Keep it up ...it’s wonderful. Selman....now I know his name!

But you should make a room of all the treasures from the house, including the wallpapers in each room. Maybe a before and after photo. Create a table or a divided table. Mark a map showing where each room is in the house. Maybe a history of the “room”. If you made it into a book, you could put dried flowers around everything! 😉❤️

I've used coins as shims to level a bookcase or dresser. Perhaps that was the reason the coin was under the cabinet. I like the idea of dating it, though. Another fun vlog. I am so excited for baby peacocks.

I have to tell both of you, I’ve so enjoyed your vlogs during this pandemic since I’ve discovered them. I’m a critical care physician and facing covid daily at work with all of the fears and realities has been taxing. These vlogs have been a ray of light and LIFE and joy. I love gardening, I love history and your joie de vivre. I now have an inexplicably strong craving to drape everything in toile.

No, Stephanie! It's you who is magical! I'm rewatching older Diaries because I've just lost my Uncle this weekend to Covid and I thought I know what will lift my spirits! Stephanie and the Chateau Diaries. I became a Patron as soon as I was able to get employed when restrictions lifted and I've loved that I get to be a super small part of the big changes that are happening there. Although I do love the other chateu channels you are magical and your spirit means a lot more than you'll ever know to so many! ❤️ There is really something that is indescribable about this and the way that you edit makes us all feel that we're there with you!

I posted this on Michael's channel as well: Do you love these guys but hate adverts. I watch these videos several times over by having them playing in the background on autoplay while I wash dishes or some other task. I can hear them but not really as I concentrate on my housework. Then when the jobs are over, I grab my cup of coffee or tea, head for the couch and watch the videos for real. It is satisfying knowing that I "watched the adverts" multiple times through. I live in the NC Blue Ridge Mountains with the loveliest of waterfalls and blue vistas but the beauty of France is amazing as well. These channels provide Beauty and the best of humanity. Arranging my day so that their "watching adverts" many times over is a very small price to pay for the joy!!!

Love the 'brooding' Peahen and the shelter Selmar created for her...Experts say protect her and the nest from other flock etc. Place in large dog kennel or ? for her protection.

those trees dont stand up well to being replanted sadly..i did that to two we had and they went into shock and withered away..I agree with Isabelle , it should stay where it is..its already a good age and someone with topiary skills could make something fabulous out of it.

Every time I see mummy I feel like I want to run to her and give her a really big hug. She brings so much joy to me l, she’s so bright and tenacious ♥️♥️ She’s as young as my grandmother but she’s so much more active

I think Selmar is one of the kindest people ever.

I just want to say thank you very much Stephanie and Micheal for all the work it takes to make your vlogs. I now know how time consuming it is especially when you have to drive country roads in all kinds of weather just to upload a vlog when all I have to do is just sit in my dining room with a cup of coffee to watch . You deserve all the patrons and well wishers for all your hard work. So once again thank you and please say hello to all your family and friends that are on this journey with you. I appreciate all of you and look forward to the next story.

What a fun vlog! I love the treasures you found in that one room - the old wallpapers AND the coins!! I'm so excited for the pea hen and her babies!! And the lovely shelter that Selmar made for her!! I literally stopped the blog and ran upstairs to tell my daughter (she loves birds, is heading to university in the fall to study wildlife biology and conservation and eventually one day get into ornithology). I'm glad to see mummy has stayed humble with all her fame ;-) Thank you for another wonderful video!!

Turning that big bush into a topiary creation is an awesome idea! Topiary is a lost art form but there are still Portuguese landscape artisans who can work their magic on Isabel's beloved bush. Oh, PLEASE do it! It would be a beautiful surprise for mummy and I would love to see it in a future episode. If you decide to do it I will donate $100 towards the project. FYI: Though I have a thoroughly French name, I was born in Portugal but live in the USA.

Bonsoir! What an adventurous day. I think you may need a freezer to stock all the extra vegetables from Le Jardin d'Isabelle! You will have lots of bounty to can/preserve and herbs to dry also. Then you can serve your own produce each year--Sustainable LaLande! The amazing Selmar's discovered coinage is quite something. And the beautiful wallpapers! Bless the sweet peahen. A joy to watch! Do you know what? I am watching this with a beautiful smell of a letter from Chateau De La Lande! Oh the smell.. Roses, or something, i got my nose buried in the envelope! I’m 15 and I draw builds for a architectural company that specialised in restoring old buildings i have designed the restoration of a few buildings my favourite design was the cathedral in Cambridge were I live it took over 2 and a half weeks to design but now it’s finished it looks so great I have stayed in a few chateaus before mostly for business but also for holidays and both of yours are on my list I would love to give you my drawings I have made of your chateau but till then stay safe well and bringing these truly amazing buildings back to life

I love that all the different roses from Michael’s chateau will now be at La Londe also! How did Mummy get so great at gardening? You can always remove the tree later, if the peacock sculpture turns out to look more like a pidgin. Haha! Love, love, love how thoughtful Selmar was to build a little shelter for the sweet peahen! I hope her eggs are safe from predators? I wondered why the chest had to be removed from the bedroom? Very cool to find hidden treasure though! How fun! These vlogs are so stuffed with great info to enjoy and comment on that I sometimes actually jot down a few notes! Isn’t that crazy? I’ve never been like this over any show ever! Hahaha! TCD or bust! ♥️

Isabelle is such an inspiration to me (and Stephanie 😊). I watch the videos in between dealing with my mini Chateau, I mean quaint cottage and garden. I work, I rest, I work I rest. Long may we live to see mostly finished projects 😊💕💕💕

Love you "Mummy! " I am seventy-three and love gardening as she does. Always wanted a green house so I really enjoy watching her enjoy her green house. Nothing beats watching vegetables and flowers grow that you planted.

We all need an Isabelle in our lives.

I love how excited you get over fabrics and wallpaper! I have the same feeling at the misery picking out beautiful flowers.

Isabelle, I love your ethik mentions due to the tree. Even Diesel and the roses love the shadow on it's side. Sometimes the sparkle of something not perfect let the beauty (of the garden) grow even bigger and breakes the boredom!

If the tree can't be moved maybe consider planting a similar one in the same bed on the opposite side and doing a similar topiary on both sides, so as to keep the gorgeous symmetry in the garden. But, of course the tree could be moved as explained by other viewers, with a mini digger, or like Selmar said, cuttings could be planted in another area. Whatever y'all decide, Isabelle's Garden has become one of my favorite sites of Lalande!

“Plants wait for no one!” Please turn that box tree into a topiary! Wonderful idea.

Isabelle is Queen of the Garden! That bi-color Rose is SO Stephanie!!! That boxwood is a real treasure! A topiary is an inspired idea!! If you still wish to move it I would highly recommend moving it in the fall on an overcast day before a good soaking rain.

In Canada, kids play hockey on neighbourhood roads and call " car " when a vehicle is seen approaching. The kids scramble off to the side and resume playing when safe. Uploading vlogs on a French country road reminds me of 🇨🇦 children having fun.

I ship you two, sooo much. If you are just friends I love this ship even more! X

I just can't believe nobody asked Michael Petherick to do a peacock sculpture with the boxwood! We all know he absolutely would've done it to perfection!
