Unfortunately in this day and age there's a lot of noise out there there's a lot of people who think they know a lot, but don't.
Experience you can't buy. I've been trading since 1985. I haven't seen it all but I've seen a lot.
My name is Nick Radge I'm Head of Trading & Research at The Chartist. Our business is allowing everyday professionals to trade the stock market. We've got extensive experience and our clients are able to tap into that experience at a very low expense and use our strategies to help improve their wealth. The biggest pitfalls about getting into the stock market is not having a strategy at all. A lot of people tend to buy and hope or they go on rumors they just put money in without really knowing what's going to happen. What we're able to do is create strategies that are mathematically proven and then it's just a matter of following those strategies.
I'm Trish Radge I'm Business Manager at The Chartist. Nick and I started the business back in 1998. I was working for a bank that had 44 fundamental analysts and they didn't have any technical analysts and that's what we specialize in so we thought there was a gap in the market. Trish and I together created a product that attempted to fill that Gap. When we came up with the idea for The Chartist we put that course online and were probably one of the first paid courses online. Back in the late 90s with the old dial up. In 2005 we got our own ASIC license and the business has morphed since then. There's a lot of people replicating what we do but we were one of the first out there in Australia doing this kind of stuff.
We built up a huge community that followed us literally till today. I've developed a passion for the financial markets and I've taken that passion and developed it into a business.
One of the best things about The Chartist is it's a small family business so we're the same team always working together. I'm Natasha Wenke and I work for The Chartist. I've worked for them for about seven years. I'm in charge of member management. I love doing all the social media content so that all the clients are informed. My name is Craig Fisher and I'm a Portfolio Analyst at The Charist. The Chartist is a subscriber-based business with several different portfolios that subscribers can follow. I think you need to learn a bit about yourself and what you actually want to get out of trading. I started working with the charters in 2010 I also am part of the Mentor Course.
We've structured the business so that it's predominantly online. I think having a lifestyle balance is really what we do. When the weather is good fishing is my thing and I enjoy a day out of the water. I hit the gym a lot. It's kind of my meditation. You know we've built a lifestyle business. It's that freedom to go and do what you want to do at any particular point of time. You don't have to be tied to a desk nine to five or specific hours or anything like that.
Transparency matters to us. We like our clients to know that we are putting our money in the same trades that they are. Each day they can log in see which trades to buy and sell place the trade with their online broker and that's it. Takes maybe 10 minutes a day. A lot of people use that to manage their super fund. We trade the exact same portfolios with our own money as our clients do. If it's tough for them it's tough for us.
Nick's transparency and honesty is one of the main points of difference for the business. There's a lot of charlatans out there and there's a lot of people who claim that a new trader can start with just a few thousand dollars. We don't shy away from the bad times. It's all good and well when you're making money, when things get tough that's where it becomes tough for everybody and you have to reassure clients that hey, we've been here before, we've got through it it's just a matter of sticking with with the plan and we'll get through it again.
