🙏 Pray this chaplet incessantly... whoever prays it will receive great mercy at the hour of death. Priests will recommend it to sinners as a last plank of salvation. Even the most hardened sinner, if he prays this chaplet only once, will receive graces of my infinite mercy.

The Chaplet of Divine Mercy is an exceptional prayer, since it was given to us by Christ Himself. Sister Faustina heard it for the first time in the interior of her soul and prayed it when in a vision she saw an angel who had come to earth to punish humanity for its sins (Cf. Diary 474-475). The next day, the Lord Jesus explained to her in detail how this prayer was to be prayed and the great significance it has (Cf. Diary 476); in subsequent revelations, the Lord conveyed to her the promises He had attached to the confident recitation of this prayer.
At first Sister Faustina prayed the Chaplet alone, and she did so in various situations: for example, accompanying someone during their agony, during a great storm asking God to calm them down, to beg for rain. In 1937, Father Sopoćko sought to obtain the imprimatur for this prayer and then, having obtained it, printed it in Krakow, by means of holy cards with the image of the Merciful Jesus and in the booklet Chrystus, Król Miłosierdzia (Christ, King of Mercy). The text of the Chaplet was widely disseminated after World War II. It has been translated into many languages and published in many countries by means of prayer cards and booklets or else in devotional prayer books. The Marian Fathers in the USA contributed greatly to this great diffusion, as they have published materials on God's mercy in many languages and have also made every effort to have these publications printed in other countries as well.
