Okay, really love your ideas for a mystery game here. Though according to Tails Tube, Knuckles Chaotix is back in canon. I really love your story and game ideas here, But I'd prefer a larger group of Chaotix inspired by the Archie comics roster; Knuckles, Vector, Espio, Charmy, Mighty, Ray, Princess Alucion the echidna (from the European Sonic comics, replacing Julie Su- and yes, Sega owns Alucion), and Honey the Cat (replacing Saffron). Maybe start with the current trio, then as the mystery grows, the old Chaotix crew and the new faces get involved due to the plot. An expanded roster could open the door for more types of gameplay while solving the mystery. Mighty could have strength-based levels, moving and destroying large objects to solve puzzles and get through areas. Honey, a fashionista entrepreneur, could get into professional and business-type settings to question suspects. Knuckles could use his treasure hunting skills to look for clues, Alucion could use her mystical abilities (similar to her ancient counterpart, Tikal) to solve puzzles and find info. And Ray could serve as a kind of NPC messenger, flying clues and items back and forth from the detective's office, and working as a mobile save point. An expanded, switchable roster could open the door to more interesting gameplay and puzzle-solving. Also, I would have Vanilla as as kind of the chaotix's secretary back at the office, talking to the team when they come back, filing and organizing clues, and working as the host on the menu screen explaining things to the player. But this is just my opinion. I'm even working on some fan-ideas for a knuckles chaotix tv series, but that's a different topic...

Although I like the ideas you could do with more. There's a couple issues you run into when you expand the roster. The first being that Archie characters are basically untouchable after Ken Penders screwed everything up. And then when you try to fit the characters into the narrative it presents the problem of how needed are they in the story. I'm sure you could find a way to write them in and make it work, but like if I were to try and cram them into my story it would lose the focus of my story as now im dealing with alot more characters on what is supposed to be a ragtag group who struggle to make ends meet. But once you have a full team and a receptionist it changes the aesthetic. It's also to consider that they would all need unique game mechanics while balancing there screen time for whos needed where, something alot easier to do with a 3 character roster. But I do like your ideas of more characters and there is definitely a story you could craft using them all. And in a TV series it would definitely be easier to incorporate all of them into the story as you don't have to work around gameplay styles and the other things I brought up! I'm excited to hear more about your TV series though!

​@jamesstreet2188 I re-read what you had said and I didn't realize you meant meeting characters throughout the journey to join the party, like Maybe they meet knuckles during the journey at tails lab and you have to get through brawling sections with him. I think adding the roster like that could make the ending feel more rewarding and fulfilled. Your idea is great!
