Most of the troops that were in the first wave were young and had never experienced combat first hand. They were used as connon fodder. 🇬🇧

Sorry. This was no catastrophe. The incredibly brave allied men got off the beach and advanced inland. The 'D' Day casualties were far, far lighter than were expected. There were dozens of hospitals in England ready to receive large numbers of wounded. The allies had prepared for 100,000 casualties and thankfully there were nowhere near that number. Any number of dead and wounded is too many, of course, but assaulting a hostile coast is bound to incur casualties.

There were two Tank Divisions in northern France fro the Wehrmacht, but even when the Invasion had started Hitler was sure that the REAL Invasion would be in the Area of Calais bec its the nearest way from England to the Continental Europe. So he denied the begging of his Generals to bring the Divisions to the Normandy. Think about what it have be if the Allies finds two german Tank Divisions as a Welcome Commitee. The Germans hadnt planes and no Army there so it was "easy" to land.

The Germans had no air force, so the results would probably have been the same. The difference would be when and where the casualties would be. By waiting with engagement, the losses for both Germany and the allies were later and further in the country.

Évidemment, il n'y a pas de miracles, c'est en grande partie une reconstitution. On y trouve quand même quelques photos prises par Robert Capa, le seul photographe à Omaha Beach. (Peut-être l'un ou l'autre reporter a-t-il filmé, je n'en suis pas sûr.) Lorsque Robert Capa a ouvert son appareil pour changer le film, un obus a explosé dans l'eau, à proximité. Le film a été récupéré, tant bien que mal, à Londres.

we studied the normandy beaches for months before D-Day, sending a sub to the beaches for scientists to collect samples of the sand and the strata of the beach, we also used hobarts funnies to take the beaches under british and canadian control, leaving nothing to chance, we tool our 3 beaches with relative ease, the yanks did none of these, suggesting they knew better, why was this??
