The 039 Elgon 4x4 challenge is a 4WD competition that takes place at the Chepkitale region of Mt. Elgon, Bungoma County each year.
Just like the famous Rhino Charge that is held annually at the Aberdares, the Elgon 4x4 Challenge is a motor sport event that entails individuals with 4 wheel drive vehicles coming down to Mt. Elgon and taking part in a string of challenges over a three day period.

Mount Elgon is a paradise untold. Thanks for highlighting.
I'm so proud of my beautiful county Bungoma. Amazing
Wish they would do the same for Lake Naivasha and Nakuru and the Turkana and Victoria, Bogoria ... these lakes look awesome at first sight, but one only needs to study the many processes within their bio-systems and see these lakes masking their deaths in beauty, slowly drying up, slowly dying.
Our beatifull mountain,
Mt elgon region is a smart place to adventure
Beautiful report. Now what we need is to have better places offering accommodation in the area. This will attract more people to experience the Mt. Elgon tourism.
proud of our home...the only problem is that the county has overlooked the place for the period from last election... the county government must work to promote tourism in the area
Great work and God bless all those involved in this conservation effort.

I think you dwelt on the negative aspect of the 4 by 4 challenge which is very minimal. The aim of the challenge is to attract people from all around the country and across to come to Mt elgon to have fun and while having fun, they learn that the forest and the wildlife need to be protected. That surpasses everything.

Them being there has also empowered the sorrounding community because they but their products. The community makes money from that. Hence, they don't necessarily have to cut down a tree to sell or make charcoal from it
